Lighthouse Ice Cream — Restaurant in San Diego

I can't write enough good things about this place. The staff is friendly and efficient, which is ideal in the summer with the heat and increase of the tourist. They will get you in and out as quickly as possible with a smile on their face.

They have ice cream selections for all pallets, even for your pup! My favorite is the moosetracks. They do rotate flavors, but stay pretty consistent with their staples.

They have a million signs on the doors, but it is CASH ONLY. No joke. They have an ATM for those who don't have cash.

The prices are very reasonable considering the location and the amount of ice cream you get. I've never personally tried them, but they're known for their waffle sandwiches and I've heard great things. They do have an outdoor seating area but it's a small place that can get pretty crowded.

No dedicated parking, unless you get lucky with a spot on Newport Ave. Hands down best ice cream spot in San Diego. My favorite thing to do is grab some ice cream and put my toes in the sand...

This place has been here since 1997! WOW! Ice cream and steps from the beach. What more can you ask for? When we came, it wasn't crowded at all but still appeared to be getting good business. There are an unlimited amount of flavors you can try which is awesome. My favorite is the Mint n chip and my boys loved the cake batter and dole whip float. They carry Double Rainbow and Cascade ice cream which is hard to find supposedly. Lucky for us!

The reviews have to be jokes right? The 2 stars come from the staff being very polite and the place being clean, including the restroom. Me, my daughter and husband got the waffle sandwiches and they were, and I hate to say this, awful. I have never in my entire life been as disappointed in anything as I have in the waffle sandwich. The waffle was precooked and just placed on the iron to reheat. It was soggy and basically taste as if I was eating normal ice cream bought from the store in between 2 pieces of sandwich bread. I couldn’t eat it. I just ate the ice cream and threw the waffles away. Very disappointed. I won’t say I won’t visit again I don’t mind trying...
