Land Rover of San Francisco's negligence put me at risk of being in an accident. I have lived in San Francisco my entire life. For nearly a decade, Iâve been a proud and loyal customer of Land Rover of San Francisco, choosing their dealership when I purchased my vehicle and trusting them for service ever since. But what should have been a simple recall repair turned into a long, frustrating, and dangerous ordealâone that has left me questioning how a brand known for luxury could allow such negligence and avoid accountability for their mistakes.
On June 26, 2024, I brought my vehicle in for a routine recall fix. As I came to retrieve it, a mechanic drove my car down the service rampâand thatâs when things went terribly wrong. A stray bolt, one of their own, punctured my front left tire. A warning light came on immediately. I returned to the service desk, where the Service Coordinator and the Service Manager quickly acknowledged the damage was their fault. They assured me theyâd replace the tire at no cost, pending a confirmation from Michelin that the remaining three tires had sufficient tread for just a single replacement.
I trusted them. On July 12, 2024, I picked up my car, believing the issue was behind me. I couldnât have imagined that this careless mistake would continue to affect me nearly a year later.
Fast forward to March 25, 2025: during a routine service at a trusted local shop, a technician informed me that the tire Land Rover had installed wasnât just slightly differentâit had a completely different tread pattern and series number than the other three. My vehicleâs manual and Michelinâs guidelines are clear: mismatched tires on an AWD vehicle can create drivetrain stress, destabilize the car, and significantly increase the risk of an accident. I had unknowingly been driving for 5,400 miles in a potentially hazardous conditionâall due to Land Roverâs mistake.
I returned to the dealership immediately. The service coordinator and service manager confirmed the error, admitted the mismatch, and acknowledged that replacing just one tireânow with over 10,000 miles of tread differenceâwas no longer safe. They promised to replace all four tires with the correct Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 model. I was relieved and expected the matter to be resolved promptly.
Instead, I was met with more delays, inconvenience and disregard. For weeks, I waited. The tires arrivedâonly to discover they were again the wrong model and of noticeably lower quality. I escalated the issue to General Manager Ralph Colon, reminding him of my long-standing loyalty and the clear safety risks involved. He assured me they would make things right.
Then, the final blow: on April 18, 2025, Mr. Colon offered to replace just the one mismatched tireâdespite his own service staff previously confirming this was dangerous and inadequate.
Let me be clear:
It was their bolt that punctured my tire. It was their service team that installed the wrong replacement. It was their parts department that repeatedly failed to order the correct tires. It was their management that delayed a resolution and ultimately refused to do the right thing. For nearly a year, I have carried the costâfinancially and emotionallyâof their repeated negligence. In the end, I had no choice but to replace all four tires at my own expense, prioritizing my safety where Land Rover of San Francisco would not. I have since filed a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair, State of California. I am also pursuing a small claims lawsuit in San Francisco's Superior Court.
To anyone considering entrusting your vehicle to Land Rover of San Francisco: donât. Iâve supported this dealership for nearly a decade, believing they upheld the standards of the Land Rover brand. But when it mattered mostâwhen their mistake put my safety at riskâthey failed me, and they may fail you, too.
Accountability should not be optional. Safety should never...
Read moreI never write reviews (especially on Google +), but I had such a great experience buying a preowned car from British Motor Car Distributors (BMCD) that I felt like it needed to be shared. Over the past few months, Iâve been looking for a preowned Porsche Cayman S and visited numerous dealerships all over the Bay (including Fremont, San Jose, Oakland, Livermore, San Raphael, etc.). At nearly every one of those dealerships, I inevitably encountered your prototypical car salesman that makes you regret the entire car searching process (aside 1 - I donât know why nearly every salesman has to smoke and is either very bad or doesnât care to hide it).
One day, I was randomly searching some car listings on the Internet and saw that a low mileage preowned Cayman S was recently made available at BMCD. So I decided to give them a call and was connected with a sales rep named Lachlan Campbell, who was not only very knowledgeable about the car (which just came in), but also extremely professional and courteous. Lachlan let me know that the car was getting checked out by their mechanics and would be available the following day if I wanted to see the car. It is worth mentioning that at no point in time did I ever feel any pressure from Lachlan, which was unusual, as most other salesman in my experience would say something like âthere is ton of interest in the carâ or âsomeone just took it for a test drive.â
I work in SF, so I decided to visit BMCD the next day and gave Lachlan a call to let him know that I was coming. When I got to BMCD, I could understand how this place could be intimidating. When you walk in, there are new Lambos, Bentleys, and Lotuses all around. However, everyone I encountered was extremely nice and welcoming. After taking the Porsche out for a test drive with Lachlan (who was even able to tell me the remaining brake pad width), I decided to purchase the car and Lachlan and I were able to agree to an extremely fair price in under 5 minutes (aside 2 â I hate when car salesman insist on doing the supposed back and forth with their managers negotiating price that ends up taking forever). I had to leave to go back to work, but when I came back to BMCD a few hours later, the paperwork had all been filled out and I was able to just sign and leave the dealership in under 35 minutes, which is way faster than any other car Iâve purchased.
BMCD is not going to have cars for everyone, but if youâre in the market for a European preowned auto or you are fortunate enough to have the means to purchase an exotic car, I canât think of a better place to visit than BMCD. They are professional, courteous, efficient, and surprisingly approachable. I wasted a significant amount of time looking around the Bay for my car when I should have been looking at BMCD. If you do visit, I canât recommend Lachlan enough. I know some of his clients are local celebrities, but he always gave me his undivided attention. In fact, he called me the next day to see how I was enjoying the car and even sent me a letter a few days later thanking me for...
Read moreI cant express enough how fast, efficient, and convenient my experience here at Jaguar Land Rover San Francisco was with Andrew Herman. I've jumped through a couple of dealerships, BMW of San Francisco, Porsche of San Francisco, and Mercedes Benz of San Francisco. I love German cars and I've had BMW's since I started driving at 17. My dad gave me his BMW 740! which was too fat to drive around, so I traded that in for a BMW 325i, then went with a Coupe for the 328i. I finally wanted to get out of the box and feel more different. Everyone here in San Francisco seems to be the same with the Porsches and BMW's which I love. But definitely I have always been fond of Jaguar. I stumbled on this amazing dealership online when I saw they had a Jaguar XF available.I put in an inquiry and Andrew Herman reached out to me immediately to see if I was interested. My work hours in real estate conflicted their hours but he was always happy to make things convenient and accommodate, even staying a little later for me to get to see the vehicle. Booked an appoint with him easy and rushed on to the dealership. Being in real estate, I was at awww of their location. A classic and historic building that definitely blended in with the luxury status of Jaguar/ Land Rover. I met Andrew and he greeted me enthusiastically. Went straight away to look at the car and OMG! I fell in love. I was a little shocked, it looked better and bigger in person. I thought it would look like a coupe but it definitely looks and feels like I was going to a black tie event at Buckingham Palace. We took it for a test drive and man, I can't believe how much I was in love with the technology and feel also roar of the car. It took me a few weeks to give it some thought and shop around a little more but eventually I reached back out to Andrew after he offered hispersonal number so incase I want to return. We did one more test drive, this time we cruised around town, Union Square to Yerba Buena, and around my work, Financial District. We shared a few stories and Andrew was great and professional. The vehicle was a head turner, not a lot of people see a Jaguar and also just the roar of the exhaust was to die for. I told him let's make this happen and boom bam, we did it. I was not looking to drop a few bills but Andrew made me feel great about my experience with Jaguar so I shot the gun and dropped a bag. Even after my purchase, there were still a few things I noticed that just needed to be tweaked and he was happy to accommodate getting those small things serviced at my convenience. Overall, it was a smooth and great experience. Thank you Andrew, if anyones looking to get a Jaguar or Land Rover, better check out Andrew, he'll make sure you get a...
