TRULY Mediterranean — Restaurant in San Francisco

Oh no! Heed caution. I ordered delivery from Uber Eats. The food arrived quickly and great driver, so no issue with the delivery.

The food on the other hand was just got good. I ordered a ½ pint of hummus, two pieces of pita, the lamb skewer, and the lamb shawarma. The hummus was topped with oil and about a ½” of sumac. The container of hummus wasn’t full. The hummus itself was good, but the overdose of sumac was odd. I’m glad I ordered pita as the hummus didn’t come with pita. Who sells hummus and no pita? At least note it on the menu. The pita I ordered arrived cold and wrapped in foil. The food was hot to the touch and the pita was ice cold and dry. I’ve had Mediterranean food delivered from other places (Oren’s is the bomb!!) and it arrived soft and warm. Other places it’s lightly grilled or tossed in the oven.

The lamb skewer and shawarma were different. The skewer came off the skewer. The lamb was chewy but has a good flavor. It had very small pieces of bell pepper and raw onion. Who eats raw onion? Not grilled nor marinated.

The shawarma plate had shaved lamb cooked until the moisture was all gone, one raw onion sliced (nope not grilled nor marinated), yellow rice (tasty), hummus, tabouli salad, and lots and lots of sumac. The restaurant must of gotten a pallet of sumac at a killer price. Again no pita with the meal.

If you like raw onions, dry lamb, sumac by the spoonful, and cold dry pita bread, then I’d highly recommend Truly...

I'm not sure if this is the same place that was here when I was a kid, but honestly this Tiny lil place deserves to be seen in a bigger environment! I am super picky with my food, Also I don't like a lot of tomatoes in my food just because I feel that it is too acidic and takes away from a lot of the flavors and also makes the food a little bit soggy if you're using any type of wrap, bread etc.BUT I ordered the chicken shawarma which was delicious delicious! I even didn't mind those yummy tomatoes they put in there, My husband got the lamb plate. To be honest I wouldn't mind eating lamb or goat in the past, it's just a lot of people do not know how to make it and it has always tasted gamey to me. But I tasted my husband's lamb plate And it was the bomb!! These people cook so good everything tasted and was seasoned perfectly! Ordered over seamless.com for pickup at 6:09. They waited till I came to the restaurant to check their system and start preparing the order.

Update: The story narrated in the restaurant's response is false. I plac d my order at 6:09pm and arrived at the store at 6:45pm. My friends made orders at the same time (but not using seamless.com) and they found their orders ready for pick-up at the time we arrived. And when I arrived at the restaurant, the cashier made an excuse that he did not get a notification about the order and that was the reason they didn't have the order ready. They said the order would be ready in 10 minutes. Then he twisted this story saying that the order was ready at 6:12pm (3 minutes after I placed the order!) and he had to give it away.

Regardless of the cashier's fact-twisting, the food quality was actually good and the restaurant manager offered me a free side as an apology. I was actually changing the rating from 2 stars to 5 but then kept it at only 4 because of the...
