I cannot say enough about the incredible experience our group of six had at Kane Rum Bar during our recent vacation in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Celebrating two birthdays, we were looking for something special, and Kane delivered beyond our wildest expectations. This place is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone seeking a world-class bar experience.

From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the warm, inviting atmosphere and the exceptional quality of everything Kane offers. The bartenders—Adrian, Luis, and Tom—are true artisans, crafting each drink with precision and passion. Their expertise and creativity shine through in every handcrafted cocktail, and their friendly, engaging demeanor made us feel right at home. Adrian’s signature Thai Love Potion was a standout—do yourself a favor and ask for it!

The real heart of Kane is co-owner Tracy, whose dedication to his craft and genuine care for his patrons elevate this bar to another level. Tracy’s knowledge of rum and cocktails is unmatched, and with dozens of varieties to choose from, there’s something for every taste. He took the time to connect with us, ensuring our drinks and food were exactly what we wanted, and even went above and beyond by recommending other fantastic local restaurants to help us avoid the usual tourist traps. His personal touch made our nights at Kane unforgettable, and we were so enchanted that we returned for a second evening.

The food at Kane is nothing short of spectacular. The tapas-style, shareable plates are perfect for a group, and every dish we tried was a hit. The Pa'l Campo sliders were bursting with flavor, the empanadillas were divine, and the ribs—marinated in El Barrilito rum—were an absolute highlight and our group's #1 pick. The blackened tuna with zesty coleslaw and edamame sauce was a standout, perfectly balancing fresh and savory notes. The sliders, particularly the Puerto Rican chicken longaniza with spicy mayo, were hands-down the best I’ve ever had—each bite a burst of island-inspired goodness. The marinated pork bao buns, paired with plantain chips and a sweet rum soy sauce, were another highlight, showcasing the creative fusion that sets Kāne apart.

For the rest of you weirdos: I am an enormous fan of cocktails and cocktail bars, as well as a person who has had the incredible fortune to visit a lot of them. This review will be the 292nd that Kane has received on this platform. It sits at 4.9 out of 5. Those numbers speak to this place being criminally underappreciated.

Every single drink we had here was exceptional. And creative. And memorable, even despite the number of them that we had.

I had 3 different bartenders across the multiple trips I made during my week here (including an absolute legend named Chris) and each of them was talented, genuine, welcoming, and just generally awesome.

Oh, I forgot to mention that this place ALSO has some of the BEST food available in this magical place where amazing food is basically a foregone conclusion. I simply do not have the words to compliment Pata De Pulpo enough (and I clearly do not lack for words). I will also be thinking about the plantain chips for the rest of my alcohol-shortened life.

As mentioned (and per my claim that this place is underappreciated): I was here more than once during my week here. I walked past it several more times (always with regret, and only out of commitment to new experiences). Reliably, I could walk into this place without a single second of wait time.
