I stayed at Urbana Hotel in San Juan, PR for a business trip and had one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.||For over four days, there was no hot water in my room. I reported the issue to the staff several times and was only given excuses. Meanwhile, other guests confirmed they did have hot water, which made the situation even more upsetting. As a guest of African ancestry, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was being treated differently — and that possibility is incredibly disturbing.||Housekeeping was also a major issue: my linens and towels were never replaced, and I had to change them myself. Attempts to speak with a manager went nowhere — apparently, no one in charge was available during my entire stay. Communication was handled mostly through generic, copy-pasted WhatsApp messages, which added to the lack of professionalism.||On top of all that, there’s a nightclub nearby that plays loud music late into the night, making it difficult to sleep. What’s worse, other reviewers have mentioned this in the past, and the hotel has denied its existence — which is simply not true. The noise is very real, and the hotel is being dishonest by pretending it’s not a problem.||I gave Urbana Hotel multiple chances to resolve these issues, and nothing was done. The property itself is run-down and does not reflect the photos online.||If you value comfort, honesty, and basic hospitality standards, avoid this hotel. There are far better options...
Read moreThe staff was very nice at check in. I should mention that we had to check in around the corner from the hotel. Then we had to haul our luggage up an uneven and cracked sidewalk. I understood that there was no elevator but I thought the stairs would be manageable. They are so narrow and steep, it was almost impossible to get our luggage up to the 2nd floor. Going down the stairs with luggage was even worse! Very dangerous!||The 1st night there, the bar next door played loud music until 1:10 am. We were told by hotel management that they were allowed by law to play until 2am and that we could call the police if they didn't stop by then. We were also offered ear plugs, which led us to believe that they have had complaints before. We could only watch tv using the closed caption due to how loud the music was. Needless to say, we did not get much sleep after a very long travel day.||The hotel room itself was clean but bare minimum. Only a rod to hang clothes, no luggage rack (had to open luggage on the floor). It had a bed, small table/desk and TV. Only 1 plug at the bedside so we could not use 2...
Read moreVery cute hotel. A little confusing for the initial find since this is one of a couple hotels offered from the same check-in. Go to the main doors with all the logos on a small plaque across the street from the little park. Check-in was great, very professional and hospitable. The attendant offered complimentary water and walked me to my room. Showed me the access codes for the gates. 2 security access panels to get to the room so VERY safe! Room was nice. Small and kozy. Good working AC, and a balcony. The shower was hit and miss on hot water but that was already identified from a previous comment and for this to be a more local and non-commercial hotel, it was accepted. I got texts everyday offering for housekeeping to flip my room or not. Good location, half way between old San Juan district and the Condado Beach area that I was frequenting. I would definitely recommend this...
