I had the pleasure of finding Salüt during my trip, and loved it so much, I changed my itinerary to come back before my departure flight! Not only is the food insanely delicious, the owner, Nicole, is the sweetest, most humble person I have ever met. She is so kind and personable, she made me want to eat there every single day. She also gives great recommendations on what to try/where to go while there. I absolutely love that her place is vegan friendly, and that there are actually indulgent vegan meals to eat, not just a salad! So, fear not, fellow vegans, there is food here.

She made the best cappuccino with just the right amount of sweetness, and did not use any of that processed cane sugar stuff. The coffee was so great that I even purchased a bag of beans to take back home. I also enjoyed the guacamole toast one day, and two other visits I had the vegan sandwich with avocado/hummus instead of chicken. The sandwich is huge and so very filling that honestly, you just don't miss the sides we're used to eating for the sake of extra food in the upper 48. The bread is local (she told me about my meals), toasted to perfection and sprinkled with herbs. But, the flavors! My goodness, the flavors!

I don't care where you stay in Puerto Rico, find a way to visit Salüt at some point during your stay. Be sure to ask about the "date-treats" (she makes this sweet treat with dates and chocolate that will blow your mind). I promise you, the food and the service are...

From the moment you walk in the vibe is amazing, holistic, wholesome, clean, inviting, and lovely. The staff and owner (Nicole) are knowledgeable, personable, friendly, conversational and informative. The options are so delicious it's hard to decide what to try first. The Mushroom Chai was my choice of warm drink and I will definitelg sip on that cup of sunshine for the rest of my stay. I had the Tropical Guac toast and OH MY GOD! Culinary perfection! The rich flavors, texture and fresh ingredients (shrimp, pineapple, avocado, herbs and other magical ingredients) on the local made fresh sourdough bread hit such a perfect note on every level. Stayed there having conversations with Nicole and decided I wanted a smoothie to go by the end of it. I've never been a pistachio gal but decided to try something new, since everything here had been flawless thus far. Let me tell you it exceeded ALL expectations! It's vegan and oh so thick, rich, creamy, flavorful and soul nourishing! Grabbed up one of her healthy treats (Snickers bar & Twix Donut) and to go as well and these are made with no grains, sugars or wheats. They are vegan, diabetic and health nut friendly and also every bit of amazing and very filling! I will definitely be returning on a daily for my healthy and delicious start to my day. So glad I found this quaint and amazing "hole in the wall"! Highly...

As a foody in withdrawal after a year of sorting out a bean allergy, a Boricua chef friend of mine introduced me to Nicole and her new, vegan cafe bistro, Salüt. What a convenient spot for delicious and healthful food—farm-to-table fresh ingredients—on an easy to park side street a short Uber drive from the port!

Nicole heard of my bean issues and steered my friend and I towards the Vegetarian Guacamole sandwich on whole wheat sourdough toast, to avoid beans, and it was incredible. The mushroom latte was mildly sweet and delicious. On my 2nd visit, I had to try the matcha latte because the mushroom had been so good. I’m surprised the matcha latte was perfectly lovely to drink with housemade almond milk and cinnamon sprinkled on top. I’m about to dig into a (just for me) vegetarian sandwich! Don’t miss it when looking for healthy eats in San Juan. Come meet Nicole for an amazing new friend in...

Salut is attached to the hostel I stayed in San Juan and I can't recommend it high enough for a delicious, easy bite! The pistachio dream smoothie is absolutely delicious!! They also have many vegan friendly options! If I'm ever in San Juan, I am stopping by ASAP! Their baked bites taste homemade and their guacamole bowl/toast are a treat! Their space is also very lovely and clean; and the staff is so friendly! The only critique I have is that they usually have only one staff member working so it's not a quick bite place, but it is worth the wait!
