Apartamentos — Hotel in San Juan

I stayed at this Airbnb and had to file a formal case with Airbnb after seeing multiple cockroaches during my visit. That’s not a fluke, that’s an infestation. The host tried to downplay it as “just one small 1/2 inch cockroach,” but any basic knowledge of pests tells you small roaches mean breeding is happening inside. I had seen 2 cockroaches at the time I opened the case, after which they had an exterminator come to fumigate. I didn’t see any more until the last day when I saw another, but I was ready to move on and I appreciated that I was at least given a partial refund and appropriate action was taken by bringing an exterminator in.

On top of the roach situation, we walked in to find an unflushed toilet (#2, that was lovely), dirty cups, and no dish soap. It was obvious the place had not been properly cleaned and sanitized. I communicated with the host politely, thanked them for responding, and even left a positive review after the stay because I genuinely appreciated their willingness to engage. I didn’t even mention the cockroaches in my review because I didn’t want to hurt their business. I wasn’t looking to start drama, I just wanted a clean, safe place to stay. But after I received a partial refund from Airbnb due to the infestation, the host turned around and left a retaliatory review painting me as petty for opening a formal case.

The dishonesty is honestly disturbing. If you’re thinking about staying here, don’t. The place is unsanitary, and the host is manipulative when held...

My partner and I stayed in #7 for three total nights. On the first day, we arrived early and I reached out to Jorge to see if a early check-in was possible. Although we didn't end up checking in early, Jorge was very responsive and was very accommodating. The unit itself was exactly like the pictures. There is a shared courtyard area with a kitchen sink, microwave and other small appliances that were left for the guest to use (plates, utensils, sun tan lotion, coffee machine, etc). We had a car with us for two nights and finding street parking was very easy. The streets are narrow so I suggest getting a smaller car. When we arrived, we didn't have all of the towels that the listing said we'd have and Jorge quickly called me and got them replaced very quickly. Jorge who is the owner of this place is a horrible host. All he cares about is you giving him a 5 star review. He manipulated us into leaving him a 5 review on Airbnb’s website in return for a full refund after we ran into issue after issue at his place. You don’t do business with people by being dishonest. If you thought our request for a full refund was unreasonable you should have said that and we would have left early. Please don’t believe all of the reviews for his place on Airbnb. The only plus is the location. The shower was dirty, the roof was leaking leaving a large puddle of water in the room and bathroom, coffee maker had old molded coffee, microwave was a fire hazard because it was outside and filled with rain water, the front door keyless entry was a joke because we got stuck twice.
