Las Puertas Cafe — Restaurant in San Juan

This is a MUST! I was staying at the Urbana Hotel so very convenient. The empanadillas were good, I had a ground beef and a cheese & mushroom. The pina colada... THE BEST! Made with 151 rum!! I went on Friday and was so sad that it wasn't open any other times during my visit, just for the pina coladas! The owner was very nice, and gave great recommendations of his products that were all spot on. I originally ordered the pizza empanada but he let me know it's a basic cheese and sauce so it seemed like he really wanted to make sure his customers fully enjoyed their food instead of just paid for it! We stayed at a VRBO right across the street from La Puerta Cafe, and I have to say, the whole experience was incredible. The food was absolutely authentic, (just like grandma’s). The mojitos here were amazing, best on the island. The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic, from the music, to the customers and even the chicken that walked free range, gave this place such charm. What a find! It's a pretty simple formula here. Order a cool drink, find a table, and enjoy the chickens and roosters while looking at beautiful murals while enjoying the outside air.
