I have very mixed feelings about this motel. There are some positives and some negatives and I will share them on this review. First let's go over the negative things about this motel and our room specifically. The first impression when walking in was a little hard to get through, literally. The front door is very difficult to open and had to use some jiggling and a hip bump to actually get it to open. As soon as I walked in the room I was overcome with the stench of a wet dirty ash tray. Most of the solid surfaces like countertops and nightstands were clean and appeared newer but the aging wall heating was extremely dirty and in need of some maintenance. Now for the positives. When you open up the curtains, especially in the corner room like we had, the view is spectacular. You can see up and down the entire beach and all the way to the promenade circle. Just sitting near the open air window for some fresh air and watching the world go by was quite entertaining. The proximity to the boardwalk and the beach is great I don't think it can get any better you are able to enjoy your time out in the sand and then walk right into your room and get cleaned up. All things being equal if we didn't have this corner room I probably would reduce it down to two stars The corner suite really makes up for a lot of the deficiencies here. One last little thing to note there is a sign at the front that says no pets and an hour and a half before check out time the cleaning person came into our room to clean apparently and had two dogs with her which I thought was kind of strange. Would I come back to this motel again? probably not, but for the price and if I could get this room I may do it again.

We stayed for our 12th wedding anniversary. The manager was very kind and sweet. Staff was nice. The motel was in the middle of getting renovations done. We did not care for such high beds. It was hard to get in to. The TV was on a coffee table. And it was not very far off the ground. It was Hard to see it. The 65" TV was great after we moved it to a higher table. The room was clean and sanitary. Loved the carpet 😍. The color in the room was very nice. Can't wait to see it after renovations are done. We get the best view. We had a corner room. The view was the spectacular. We got the junior suite. (One bedroom) there is a shower, no bath. So if you have little ones it maybe tricky. "Wish" there was a Murphy bed in the living room. So you could put a couch for some thing to sit on or find a better chair. Love the idea of the lamps and tables. The beds are new, so there alittle on the hard side. Parking lot is very small and tight parking spots.. not much room to move around. Other then that, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Ocean Front Motel. We WILL be back. Thank you. Happy married life

Stayed end of January 2021, year of COVID. They are in the middle of a renovation so only had a couple rooms available at time of posting. Rooms are all new inside. New bathroom, furniture, fixtures, carpet, flooring, paint, drapes, 50" tv etc. We had a 1 bedroom suite. The only issue was the base heater in the bedroom wasn't working but wasn't an issue for us (and the manager was having the contractor work on it as we checked out. Also the beds are a bit high but no complaint here. To those who complained about old smelling, dirty rooms, your reviews are now moot as they are being completely redone with all new furniture. For the price: No hotel in town has a pool or spa open so at least during COVID you get a new room for the best price in town for beachfront view. I don't see them changing the price much even after the upgrades so still best deal you'll get. The stores and shops are open with COVID restrictions (we were told by the Shiloh Inn everything was closed in town). So, well worth the stay and staff here is great and very polite.

First let me say that I booked this motel with no unreasonable expectations. I knew from reading reviews that this was a somewhat run-down property, with cleanliness issues, but the price can’t be beat for oceanfront location, and I’m not terribly picky about room condition. I travel a lot, and as long as sheets and towels are clean, I’m pretty content. I noted when booking on their website, that the rates are cheaper for their back-side rooms with no ocean views, but it was worth it to me to pay extra for an oceanfront room, so I reserved and pre-paid for a double queen, 2nd floor oceanfront room.

When I arrived at check-in time, the lady in the office checked me in, gave me a key, and pointed to a small concrete structure on the far backside of the parking lot, saying your room is right there. So I politely showed her my reservation confirmation, emailed to me from the motel office, which showed an oceanfront 2nd floor room pre-paid. She became very belligerent at this point, said she had no idea what had happened, but the parking lot room was the only room left and I could take it or leave it, but it was too late for a refund. She then told me it would work fine, as I only needed one bed, and I was lucky because it had a kitchen, and my reserved room did not.

Um. Sure, I have one night at the ocean, I’m sure I want to spend it cooking?? Also, the way she stressed that I was only one person made me feel reasonably certain that she purposefully switched my room because someone showed up who needed two beds, and wouldn’t take the single bed parking lot room. Because I had never said it was just me, so the only way she would have known is if she was looking at the reservation details, in other words, she knew full well she was giving me the wrong room, and was attempting to just power through it as if she had no idea.

I didn’t want to waste my one night at the ocean trying to find alternative lodging, (Saturday night in Seaside? Not going to happen) plus getting a refund would obviously be a fight, so I just took the room. Once upon a time, it was a cute vintage cabin sort of room, it is now a hot mess of cigarette stained and burned furniture, and cleanliness is not a big concern here. (One of the drinking glasses was ironically wrapped in a “sanitized for your protection” paper wrapper. What’s ironic is the glass inside the wrapper had old milk in it). However, from the reviews, that much I had expected going in. I wouldn’t have paid what I did, though, for a back-of-the-parking lot room with no ocean view.

It was in the upper 40’s overnight my evening here, and pretty frigid in the room, but I couldn’t get the heaters in the room to turn on. I slept in full sweatpants and hoodie and a hat. I turned the baseboard heaters up to full blast trying to get something to happen, but they remained cold to the touch until about 4am, when they finally turned on.

When checking out the next morning, there was a different lady in the office, who seemed to be the manager. I asked her about getting a partial refund for the rate difference between the oceanfront room I paid for, and the parking lot room I stayed in. She told me she would need to “research the matter”. Seriously?! What the heck is there to research, she had my reservation confirmation and the rate I paid laying on the desk in front of her. She said after “researching”, she would call the owners, and then call me that evening and let me know what they could do about it.

Would it surprise you to know I’ve never received that call many days later?

The thing is, a little customer service would have gone a long way here. If there had been even a small “sorry about the mix-up”, or an ethical refund of the rate difference, I would have been content and chalked it up to one of those things that happen. The management & staff handled this about as poorly as could...

The beds were NOT comfortable and did not have fitted sheets so when sleeping you ended up on the rubber of the mattress. They were also very HIGH off the floor making it difficult for children as well as those with disabilities unable to easily access the bed. There is also risk of children falling off of the beds while sleeping. Instead of having a platform, box spring, and mattress accessibility would have been improved with no platforms. The rod for the mini blinds was broken and found laying on the floor, which made for a toy for my child. The window handle itself was hot glued to the window frame and appeared rusted and ready to completely fall apart. The pieces to hold in the screen were also lose. There was absolutely no sound proofing in the rooms, and one could easily hear conversations from rooms on either side, outside on the beach, as well as outside walking down the aisle to their rooms. Despite having reserved the room for four people, upon arriving there were only 2 full size towels but 4 individual hand towels and wash cloths in the bathroom. The wifi was VERY slow and did not provide good service. As for the service provided by hotel employees, upon arriving I felt as though I was an inconvenience and while I understand there had been a passing of an individual it took WAY too long before I was checked in. Also, upon check in there was no paperwork provided, no direction as to wifi access or passwords, no information as to check out times, or any real information about the hotel (i.e. location for ice, etc.) or location. There was limited informational hand outs in the lobby for things to do in the area. While I have plans to return to the town for another stay with my family, I will be planning to take my...

Honestly it wouldn't have been awarded 3 stars if it weren't for the sweet woman at the front desk, and for the hotel making my situation better by compensating me one night out of my stay. We ended up having horrible neighbors. They got so drunk and routy I had to call the office at 10pm to see if they would talk to them. The gentleman I spoke to didn't really do much, even said he wasn't sure what he could do. Long story short I ended up having to call the police twice because they got so drunk they started fighting each other from 1am to 3am. Could hear screaming and punching and damage to walls and thrown furniture. It was horrible. My 5yr old kept waking up scared. Was hard to get him to sleep in the first place when it all just started off with them being loud.

However the lady at the front desk (and I'm sorry I don't remember your name) was so helpful and friendly and kind. She really did make our stay. The hotel room was clean and stocked. It was nice they had a microwave when most hotels have removed theirs and a mini fridge. It was a beautiful view close up of the beach. Walking distance to everything. Heater worked great. Windows got a little stuck but after a few times of opening and closing they worked just fine.

I don't understand some of the horrible reviews. Your not staying at the Ritz, and anyone that knows the Oregon coast knows mold comes with the territory. The only thing I would say they can do better at besides their night shift personnel, is to use bleach and killz around the windows more consistently. It would make a world of difference with how clean the place looks (even though I know it was clean) but not everyone understands that.

Owners... give that lady a raise, she...
