I stayed at this Best Western for a conference last week. Upon arrival I was surprised to see that the hotel was under some pretty serious construction. This was a minor inconvenience but excusable as I understand business need to update properties. However, when I went to check in for some reason I wasn't on the list for direct billing. I called my contact and got that resolved. They noted that I had arranged for an upgraded room to a jacuzzi ocean view suite and after almost 45 minutes I finally had keys in hand. I ran to the store and when I got back, I packed all of my stuff up to the 5th floor. When I walked in, I dropped my baggage and started to look around and realized, this was not a jacuzzi suite. I tried to call down to the front desk, but did not get an answer so I headed back down to see about getting my room corrected. When I got down there, there was quite a line of people so it took awhile to get to the front. When I finally got to speak with someone (30 more minutes in a freezing hallway) I was told there were no more jacuzzi suites left. At this point I did start to get a little upset because I had booked this in advance and paid a hefty additional amount to have this amenity. After about 20 minutes they were able to get me a jacuzzi room. I asked what I should do with the keys for the 5th floor room as I still needed to retrieve my items and was told just to bring the key back down. No offer to come and get it or to assist with moving my stuff. So, by the time everything was said and done...I missed the sunset on my 1 of 2 nights. The next night when I returned from conference I walked into my room and when I walked in, I was very confused for a moment. Nothing in the room was mine-it was someone else's stuff and I quickly realized that I had walked into the wrong room. My keycard allowed me to unlock and enter another guests room. When I called the front desk, they acted like it wasn't that big of a deal. However, I feel like it's a pretty huge deal. As a woman that travels for work often and on my own, I take my personal safety very seriously. had the tables been turned and someone had walked into my room, it would not have been a good outcome. So once again, I am summoned to the front desk to change out my keys. I was pretty unhappy at this point and especially angry when it didn't feel like this was taken seriously. I took a deep breath and drew a bath-I was not going to miss another (and my final) sunset. I relaxed in the jacuzzi for hours, watching people walk by some looking up at the hotel-a lot of folks from the very conference I was there for. Later in the evening I decided to take a walk. I walked around to the promenade and was absolutely horrified when I realized that the window in front of the jacuzzi tub was not privacy glass. I had been sitting naked for all of the world to see (again, a lot of my colleagues walking by) and had no idea. I felt so beyond violated and this was the very last straw. I did not sleep well that night-I woke up regularly thinking someone was trying to get in my room...which then turned into my embarrassment of being seen nude by anyone that walked the promenade from 6-10pm. I have never stayed in a jacuzzi room, especially on the lower floors that did not have privacy glass or at very least make sure that was known! When I checked out, I let them know that I was not happy with the stay, there was no sincere apology or any sort of empathy. I also have called the General manager multiple times with no call back. I will absolutely never stay here again. My safety and security were not respected or made a priority in any way, shape or form. I did not feel safe or comfortable...
Read moreI am a fan of Best Western hotels, and Seaside. We travel to Oregon usually. But this one surprised me. Here are my reasons: We were there for 2 nights. No one came to clean our room. We didn't have those "do not disturb" stickers on our door. I think in general the quality of services is going down in the US. No wonder no tourist comes here anymore, and people are leaving. There were only 2 towels for two people to shower. And I must mention that Pacific NW is pretty humid and rainy (and cloudy). We were on first floor, and both nights, I couldn't sleep. There was a pool beside our room, and a hallway, and people were literally screaming. I don't know if Americans notice this, but they are very loud. The question is, why would the hotel want to establish rooms on the first floor and make guests tolerate smell, and noise? There was one window but that opened towards the same hallway. I wasn't able to open it because of noise, and that it was right close to the pool and not an actual outside like a regular normal window. I don't know if you have noticed this, the staff (receptionists) are disinterested and rude. I don't know if they mean that, but they are rude. Or maybe it's just a broken education system that makes people this rude, and far from professionalism. There is a chance that they don't even understand. I got this sense when I was talking to them. I also got it when other guests were complaining about the service and the staff were just acting so disinterested. Our room only had a bed, a small chair, and a small desk. No couch, and it was so small, and kind of unclean and dusty, that made me start couching. Once I talked to staff, their only answer was: we are fully booked, do you want to check out and leave? And they offered this "check out and leave" several times. I know this country is known for being so terrible to guests and immigrants. But I never believed it, until I came to this hotel. They are very rude, and they seem to have not enough education and professionalism. I honestly don't know why such a small closet size room even exists. Standards in this hotel are so low. It is very sad and disappointing. I saw coffee maker on microwave, and that on a fridge. There was no space to walk well. It was saddening. And the sadder point is that either staff do not understand what professionalism is, or just do not act professionally. Both ways, it is sad. There was a tiny bakery, and I think you should pay for it, because the breakfast is not included. It's really sad how far American hotels are compared to the rest of world. I have traveled a lot and have seen the world, unlike most Americans who have never traveled anywhere expect for Cancun. My advice: avoid this hotel. No matter how much you pay, they are going to treat you badly if they want. And they are rude. I don't like arguing with rude and unprofessional people. Go to other hotels instead. Go somewhere that doesn't have an excuse for treating you badly. I am never going back...
Read moreWe booked a top floor ocean view room for my daughter’s birthday. Check-in is 4:00, we arrived at 4:15, after driving for 3 hours. Upon check-in, we were informed VIA EMAIL (as we were pulling into the parking lot) that our reservation had been cancelled despite proving we had plentiful funds and a confirmation email. We did not receive a phone call, we received an email- at 4:00 (check in time). After showing the concierge our confirmation email and bank statement showing that we had, indeed, already paid and the reservation was confirmed several days prior, we were told that our room was already given to someone else (within 15 mintutes??) but were offered a different room on the ground floor (for the same price). The front desk agent seemed to do the bare minimum by offering subpar alternatives and acting as if she was bothered by doing her job. Albeit, I don’t believe it was her fault that the hotel failed so miserably. She, personally, did the best she could. Since we had traveled so far already, we accepted that room. We paid a good amount of money for a sea of grass view in a hotel undergoing extreme renovations, and no privacy from the visitors wandering nearby. Luckily, we were offered a discount and delayed checkout- we did not utilized the delayed checkout due to their proven shoddy business practices. We were awoken early each morning (around 6am) by loud noises on the ground floor we were assigned, directly next to the makeshift front desk. Breakfast is not complimentary and not cheap. TVs provide basic cable but are not “smart” and cannot connect to devices. We mostly provided our own toiletries and towels as what was provided was insufficient. There was no fan in the bathroom, the dishwasher was unsteady and unable to be safely, and there is no air conditioning. The clumps of hair were so apparent in the pool that I did not feel comfortable allowing my daughter to swim in it. Maintenance and cleaning should be done regularly. On the upside, the room was fairly clean, and the location was satisfactory. It is my belief that the hotel would make more money from last-minute reservations rather than pre-booked reservations and that is why our reservation was cancelled. Lastly, the GM here seems to praise good reviewers and discredit valid concerns made by dissatisfied guests, rather than acknowledge areas in which they can improve. This is our 4th stay at a Best Western location and there have been nothing but problems, so therefore it will be our last. If you’re looking for an oceanfront hotel while staying in Seaside, I would implore you to look at ALL...
