If you're going to own a Funland arcade in a tourist trap town like Seaside Oregon then you probably want to keep your amusements in working order!
At least half of the games here are out of order. The place is huge and it doesn't feel like they utilize that space very well. I can imagine some cool themes and decorations that they could add to the place but then, It's not mine. Just to have the games working so that we could have played them would have made this review a lot better but alas, our visit was quite disappointing.
They do have a pretty good selection of games to choose from but like I wrote, most of them are broken. They have a few midway type amusements too like skeeball and a horse racing game but the place just feels old and run down. The staff was nice and helpful when we couldn't get the ticket counting machine to print out or receipt. They have a concession area where you can get pizza or a slough of deep fried foods that you shouldn't ingest and beer. The bad thing is that you have to drink your beer inside of the corral. You aren't allowed to enjoy your brew whilst kicking some butt on The Fast and the Furious game.
They have the latest and greatest Star Wars battle pod and that game is a blast! Too bad it costs as much as most new cars but that raises the question of... If they have money for such expensive games, why don't they have money to keep all of their other games in working condition? This place is one of the only places to go and entertain yourself in the whole town. Some people are there on a daily basis so I know that they are raking in the dough hand over fist. I just wish they would use some of that money to spruce up their business instead of whatever they use it for. Priorities I guess.
If you visit Seaside, a stop into the Funland arcade is a must do but don't get your expectations too high. Its good for a few hours of fun especially at night when everything else is closed but in the morning, go check out the rest of the town.
Thanks...
Read moreFunland is a family-friendly amusement center located in Seaside, Oregon. It has a wide variety of arcade games, bumper cars, tilt-a-whirl, ten tiny tees golf, a whale racing game, and our favorite - Fascination! There is also a typical redemption counter where you can redeem your tickets for prizes.
Pros: Fun for all ages Wide variety of games Good prices Friendly staff
Cons: Can get crowded during peak times Some games are a bit outdated Could use a good cleaning more often than it's getting today!
Overall:
Funland is a great place to spend an afternoon with family or friends. It is a bit of a throwback to the old-fashioned arcade, but that's part of its charm. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. I would definitely recommend Funland to anyone visiting Seaside.
My pro tip is to spend most of your time playing Fascination - I don't think there's another one like it on the West coast. Then take your gaming card west, across the street up a half a block to the Bumper Cars (Scooter) Tilt-A-Whirl, Ten Tiny Tees Mini Golf and Pronto Pup stand - it's like traveling back in time 60 years and it's a ton of fun! My son and I came in to play the games and they did a great job maintaining everything sanitized. When we finished, we went up to cash in our tickets and the woman who worked there completely ignored us. Another couple was in line behind us and she called them over to help them. So we waited.
As the line started to build she asked who hadn't been helped yet. I told her that we were next in line, and she helped the people directly behind us. It was almost as if she intentionally didn'twant to help us. About 25 mins later another employee comes to help and asks if we'd been helped yet. I told him no and we finally proceeded to choose our prizes.
I felt very insulted by the initial employee because she looked directly at us constantly, but still ignored us. It's rare when I complain because I try to see the positive things, but there wasn't anything really positive to say about my...
