I rarely write a review, but this was the worst stay I've ever experienced. We were staying at 4-plex unit, on second floor, room 563. At first, customer service wasn't great but we didn't pay attention due to the lower price we paid compared to the other hotels that were right on the beach. Then, when we got in our room, you could definitely see outdated and smelly rooms with dirty brown carpet. The mattress on the side had yellow stains too. Again, we didn't want to ruin our vacation and dropped our stuff and went to enjoy Seaside town and the ocean. When we came back to our room at night, we saw one bug crawling on the wall. My husband smashed it and then I saw another crawling in the bathroom. I started getting uncomfortable as I didn't want any crawling on us when we were sleeping. Who knows what else is there - bed bugs? I tried not to think about it, and went to bed. The bed was really hard and uncomfortable. I kept waking up multiple times throughout the night. In the morning, I touched my daughter's swimsuit to see if it was dry and saw a bug dropped from it on the carpet. I couldn't squish it as the carpet was dark. Then I looked again, and there was another crawling inside my daughter's swimsuit. It was unacceptable and I took a picture of it. We were then checking all of our cloth, shoes, socks, suitcases. We found a few: in my husband sock, in his shoe, two in my son's shoe, two on the wall, and two in my daughter's swimsuit. My kids went to get some continental breakfast and then went back to get some more juice. They came back without the juice as the lady at the front desk said they can't get more. When we were then checking out, my kids wanted to go and swim for a few minutes. I saw the manager running out to the pool screaming at our kids to "Get our of the pool!" That's when we've had it and complained to the front desk about our experience and the bugs in our room. The lady at front desk apologized and said that it was unacceptable the way our kids were treated by the manager and that we had bugs in our room. She said that it is their policy that the pool cannot be used once we are checked out. We didn't know that was their policy, but didn't appreciate or tolerate such treatment. She said that the general manager would definitely give us a call within two hours. As we were finishing packing our stuff, the manager who screamed at our kids came up to us and started saying that they checked our room and found only one bug that was squished. I said that she needs to spend in that room more than 5 minutes in order to find more. She started arguing with us and we said we don't want to talk to her and will talk to her manager. She then said "customers are not always right". It's been 12 hours, and we still didn't receive a phone call from the general manager. I would rather pay a little more and receive greater customer service with understanding and careness, cleaner and updated rooms. This is unacceptable and would not recommend this...
Read moreWe booked this room last minute on a Saturday afternoon. I literally think that it was the last room in town so we were grateful to have a place to sleep.
Other than that, there really isn't anything special about this place. When you pull in, you can tell that it was probably a nice place to stay back in the 60's but that seems to be a theme with all of the hotels in Seaside. A mix of the old, very old and a few things new, the room was comfortable and had a great view of the beach but as far as vacation resorts go, it was lacking.
They say that the devil's in the details and that's what I look for when I visit an establishment. The photos that you find online of the rooms here are not an honest depiction of what the rooms really look like. They have done some updates. They've put marble walls in the shower and upgraded the fixtures. There are 32" flat screen TV's in the rooms but that's about it for new updates.
The walls are covered in this horrible looking texture material. The ceiling is made of tongue and groove wood slats giving you the feeling that you're sleeping under a deck. The carpets are old and dingy. The bed was sufficiently comfortable but not that great. There are no air conditioners and the room was super hot the whole time.
They do have a pool with hot tub and sauna that the wife and kids enjoyed. They are located in their own building so you can go swimming year round. I couldn't find a light switch anywhere so people have to use the sauna and restroom in the dark and they ask you to limit yourself to two towels yet they get soaked very quickly and it's hard to dry off with only two.
They offer a continental breakfast between 8am and 11am which of course is a nice gesture but when it's just some pre-packaged muffins and some oranges and bananas, you're better off going out for breakfast.
I thankful that we were able to book a room here and at such short notice but I really feel like this was a $100 per night room. Nowhere near the $230 that I paid for the one night. I would stay here again in a pinch but for less money per night, I can rent a suite at the timeshare place just two doors down on AirBnB.
After posting this review on other sites, I was contacted by the general manager of the Seashore Inn. They did not give their name or number but made it very clear that they were more than disappointed with my review. They rambled off a whole list of excuses as to why their resort wasn't "that bad" and did a lot of comparing themselves to the other establishments around town. Evidently, being slightly better than the rest makes them the best around and why should they improve as long as they are the white speck on the top of the chicken poo pile.
Thanks...
Read moreAddendum: Later that evening I went by the front desk and spoke to the young man at the desk and told him I knew it wasn't his fault and that it was an unfortunate situation.
The next morning I received a text from the front desk to come down and speak with them. The older lady from the previous day was there and a manager. They apologized again and said they would take care of the gift certificate. I was surprised and grateful and thoroughly understood that it wasn't the fault of the people at the desk. It was the fault of the booking site. But doing the right thing for their customers made me feel better about the situation and I am changing my review to reflect that. No one wants to be put in that situation, the customers or the staff.
Had a gift certificate for $200. Went online to book a room for the weekend. 500 links for every company out there to book the place. Used the first option booking.com
Site wouldn't let me use the coupon so it gave me a number to call.
It seemed to me at the time that I was routed to someone at the front desk of the hotel. They asked me specifics about the coupon.. The number, how much, ect. They said they would hold the room on my credit card and I would redeem gift certificate when I arrived.
When I arrived at the hotel I presented the coupon to a young man and he stated he couldn't use the the gift certificate because I didn't directly book through the front desk. Then a older lady came over and was clearly agitated. She was loud and upset saying that I booked through a third party site and there was nothing they could do. Maybe she was agitated because this had happened so many times before and that agitation wasn't because of me but because of the third party companies continuing to make these kind of mistakes.
The young man then called what I assume was a manager and once again said there was nothing they could do.
Nothing on the gift certificate said the reservation needed to made from a call directly to the hotel.
The front desk lady says this happens all the time and they keep having problems. This seems to be an issue with the third party companies online and how they compete for booking rights. Sometimes they are giving incorrect information and the hotel doesn't have control of what is done or said. Hopefully they can reconcile this in the future.
We drove four hours to get to Seaside and after the issue with the front desk we didn't let it innterupt the funt we had while...
