I almost never take the time to write any sort of negative reviews because I often feel like it’s not worth the energy and I understand the impact they can have on small/ local businesses. However, this weekend my family and I brought our relatives to the beach with hopes of sharing this place and it’s amazing burgers but it was a terrible experience. It started with some confusion about seating but pretty soon it became clear that there were some racist undertones to the entire interaction. The lady working there asked to wait outside so she could count our party and then pretty much ignored us while being friendly to everyone else. We saw multiple people enter and seat themselves when she had explicitly told us that we needed to wait for her to “count us”. After seeing this happen multiple times I went in and asked and she said that there was only one of her and that the tables were not enough for our party so she was waiting to seat us outside. I went back outside to wait and when she came back out to clean everything up she again ignored us. They were clearly understaffed which I can completely understand but it was very interesting seeing how despite that she was kind and respectful to everyone that came in and us the only people of color were getting ignored. When she came out to take our order it was clear she was annoyed at us emphasizing that it would take long and reminding us rudely to put away any water bottles we had and we were more than a little uncomfortable. About a minute after she took our order a couple came to share one of the tables, we didn’t mind that they sat with us until the girl put her feet fully onto the table where we were suppose to eat, after that I went in and told the lady that I was sorry but with that with the wait, everything was else and someone literally putting their feet on the table that we were going to cancel our order. After that the kicker was that the lady who had been nothing short of rude with us came out and with a completely different attitude welcomed and took the order of the couple that had their feet on the table. I don’t write this review in hopes to damage anyones business but instead in hopes that somebody in charge might read this and think about how people visiting the area are experiencing their business. As for the lady working there I want to have empathy for the stress that it takes to be the only person working a restaurant in the middle of a busy day but I don’t think treating people differently and taking out one’s stress on customers is fair or warranted. I hope people visiting have a better experience than us as in previous years we’ve loved visiting this place
Added after owner response. I want to clear a couple of things up myself if I counted us wrong I apologize but as for the other things you have written they are not “the facts”. When you asked us to put our water bottles away we started to put them in our bags despite the fact that we literally saw people with big jugs of water inside of your establishment. When you came out to clean the table we tried to help by stacking the treys that the other group had left and we put everything together for you. In regards to the order time and cancelling it had been not even 10 minutes since you came out and told us that our orders would take a very long time that we came in and cancelled the order and based on your own words there is absolutely no way you could have had the food ready in that time. I also tried to be as kind as possible to you and I did apologize and explain why we were leaving, although out of your control having people put their feet on a table to eat was our last straw. As for the reviews I was speaking about reviews I have written if other members from my party wrote something too that's on them. I have seen numerous times that when people write a negative review the response is always defensive and frankly rude. Read moreI wish I could start by showing the screenshot, that says this is a family-friendly restaurant pub and grill. Honestly, the two ladies working there right now make it anything BUT family friendly. (I will also add that the Big kahuna and Big bopper burgers have teamed up. Big bopper is cooking the food while the Big kahuna serves the jello shots and drinks.) The Big bopper burgers and food was AWESOME AND SO WERE THE FOLKS THAT SERVED THEM. The big kahuna, however, could really stand with a revamping of workers. The two ladies that are there are not happy, they show it, and unless they see big wallets they really have nothing for you. At the time we entered we were the only couple that had kids, and we were met at the door by a brunette that said we'll come outside and serve y'all. There were plenty of people in the place and plenty of tables open but we were told to basically wait outside. We were literally helped once when our drinks were brought to us. However all of the drinkers with non-children tables were treated very well, socializing, fraternizing, laughing.... But it when it came to the kid table 😕😕 shame on you ladies. And a big shout out and thank you to Big boppers burgers for the awesome food. I am glad however we set the tone of kids being welcome, because when we were done a few couples asked if it was kid friendly and we let them know it sure was.....annd the next three tables that walked in..❤️ all had kids. Read moreI'm following up on this. The only thing we were told while he stayed in the restaurant waiting was it will be a little longer. Not until after he left did they finally tell us the printer broke and didn't print his order at the fryer section of the kitchen. They finally brought it out, but it was a few minutes after he left. The staff was nice and friendly, but gave absolutely no info why our food was plated and served separately from his until after he had already been up at the promenade for several minutes.
Never again!!!! They served my wife, my daughter, left me hanging. Served everyone else. Still left me hanging. Get it together people.. You people should be ashamed of your service..
1 Response from the owner a week ago I'm sorry for your bad experience Chad. I did try explaining to you that we had something come loose on our kitchen printer & the cooks had not gotten any of the orders that had been sent in. Your food was brought out seconds after you left, with more apologies. It had nothing to do with our service, just technical problems. We got the orders out in order of how we put them in, your wife & daughter got food from a different area of the kitchen, therefore it did come out before yours. Perhaps try being a bit more understanding instead of leaving such a negative review....
