I stayed at the Candlewood Suites for a work trip, and unfortunately, it was one of the more frustrating hotel experiences I’ve had in a while.
It’s clear this location is geared toward long-term, blue-collar workers — and to be fair, most of the guests I encountered were respectful. But the environment feels completely taken over by that crowd. If you’re not part of one of the large crews that regularly stay there, expect to feel like an afterthought.
I had issues from the moment I checked in as part of a corporate stay. The front desk seemed confused about the reservation, and there was little interest in resolving it efficiently. Customer service overall was lackluster, unless you appeared to be part of the regular working groups they cater to.
My room had a door that wouldn’t latch securely and a shower with almost no water pressure — both of which I reported, and neither of which were ever fixed. I felt ignored.
Combine that with loud hallways, the ever-present smell of sweat and takeout, and common areas that feel more like an employee breakroom than a hotel, and this just isn’t a place I’d choose to stay again.
If you’re in a heavy labor field and traveling with a team, maybe it’ll work for you. But for corporate travelers or anyone expecting even basic hotel-level service and maintenance?...
Read moreWe stayed in the 2-Queen bed suite with kitchen. The room was clean enough and the kitchen had much of what you would want, except an oven, not even a toaster oven. The point of getting a room with a kitchen is so that one can make a meal if one wishes. Not so easy here. The coffee maker was small--one cup, with only one pouch of regular and decaf. Again, with a suite and kitchen one would expect it to be available to serve more than one person. The TV was small and placed far from the beds so that the picture and sound were small. But, the real problem is the age and condition, especially in the bathroom. The plaster was cracked. The tub surround is fake, plastic tile.Normal sound, such as footsteps or conversations from the hallway and other rooms, was loud. This is an aging and not well-built hotel. The lobby breakfast area is very small and dark. There are probably better hotels with suites at about the same price. Skip this if you have the...
Read moreI stay in so many hotels, as I am sure most of you do, and this is a great place for many reasons. The location for one is easy to access and extremely easy to navigate. The parking beyond bountiful. I drive a rather large Kenworth Box truck so I have to be mindful of this factor. There is definitely shopping nearby with an entire mall directly in front of the hotel, a Dollar Tree to the left and a Harbor Freight to the right of the building. The staff are absolutely amazing and extremely personable. The room was fantastic in cleanliness, size and comfortability. I usually stick mainly to H.I.E locations due to free breakfast and a pool/ hot tub for when my little one travels with me but I chose this place based of reviews alone and it did NOT disappoint. It is hands down the best Candlewood I have ever stayed at and it definitely not the mundane basic norm I am used to. I definitely recommend this place to any and...
