Red Robin. How I Love thee. Thine menu so large and so vast. Thine fries of seemingly endless proportion, so warm and salty to the tongue. Of all of the purveyors of fine culinary skill with meat and bun who have come through my life, you have been the steadfast, reliable one who has never let me down.
(Ok…enough…I cannot keep that up for an entire review)
Being a fan of Red Robin, it was just a matter of time before my wife and I made our way here. It was a Sunday and the restaurant wasn’t very crowded. To be honest, we were looking for fish and chips and when we did a search it came up as a menu item here. But, hey, it’s Red Robin!
To say that Red Robin has an extensive menu would we be a huge understatement. Pages and pages of burgers and sandwiches and salad and drinks flashed before our eyes. It had been a while since we at ate Red Robin, so we wanted to choose wisely. In that vein, my wife ended up with a seafood scatter while I (he who wanted fish and chips in the first place), in a textbook case of irony, got the Chicken Sombrero salad.
My wife’s seafood platter was (according to her) “Really Really good!”. My salad was mostly good. The chicken was excellently seasoned. The lettuce mix was just at the point where areas of it were starting to turn, and most of the dressing was on the right side of the plate. The slightly turning lettuce was a bit of a letdown, and having to stir the salad on the rectangular plate was a bit of a task. As to taste and heat level (hot food hot!), it was great.
Trey was our server, and he was pretty on-point. He was quick with the iced tea refills, and checked back on us with a pretty regular frequency. It seemed most of the staff who weren’t actively engaged in taking care of customers hung around the hostess stand. There are a number of televisions around the restaurant, but all were muted. The décor was definitely Red Robin, with the mandatory baseball U.S. Flag and beer and sports stuff hanging from the ceiling. The coolest piece I saw as a photo of Uncle Sam made entirely of 8-track tape cartridges.
Not the single-most remarkable visit to Red Robin I’ve ever had, but it was good. I think the lettuce on my salad tainted my visit more than I anticipated. It won’t keep me from going back, but it may prevent me from ordering a saladagain.
And now, Red Robin, I must bid you farewell until time doth pass and we meet again, perchance upon better...
Read moreGrubhub driver here. Had an issue on 9/17/20. So I get to this Red Robin, located in mall St. Matthew's, at 6:19. The guest had placed the order at 5:37. I went in like normal, was told it was almost done without anyone actually checking it, and to wait outside in my car. After seeing 3 other orders get fulfilled within 15 minutes of waiting i go inside. I ask where my order is and I'm told the same thing. This time they "checked" and came back to tell me to wait outside, politely. Again I waited. And waited....
So by 7:15 (an hour after I have been waiting) I go on for a third time, I'm furious at this point. I ask where the heck my order is?!?!?! So they finally ACTUALLY go check and someone supposedly threw the ticket out and it was sitting back there....... and they tried to serve me the cold food that had been sitting there!!! I told them I've already been waiting this long, you might as well get me a fresh order on the fly. It took me 5 minutes to receive the actually fresh order.
So all in all by the time the customer received her food she waited 2 hours from time of ordering (which her eta for food delivery was 6:20 so that was an hour and a half late). The reason I'm saying something is, firstly, that messed with my ability to make money. I should've been able to go in a get the food, deliver, go to next order. I could've completed 2-3 more orders, but no, was waiting on food at Red Robin instead. Secondly, in all of that time I didn't see a manager. It would be have been a professional courtesy, at the very least, for an apology from the manager. This isn't the first time this has happened, but the first where I didn't see, or was offered to speak to, a manager.
I'm not a regular customer. Before doing Grubhub I have approximately 18 years of experience in the restaurant business, mainly in QSR and my highest level being a General Manager. There were a few food safety concerns I saw as well, and some mask and hand washing opportunities. The staff was extremely friendly and handled the situation as best as they could, but there was no leadership so assist and hold accountability so they did their best so kudos to the two ladies...
Read moreThis is a store built into the local mall so my expectations were naturally a bit lower due to the high traffic. I was hoping to be surprised however it was as I expected.
We visited on a Monday night around 7:30 or 8pm. We were one of the only ones there at this time. I had the Royal Red Robin burger, one of their signature dishes, and my son got chicken tenders and french fries.
The place was not very well lit and likely because it wasn't very clean. The server did a decent job of taking care of us however our food came out after the people who came in after us. You know what that means...yup you guessed it, cold food. Even though it was cold the taste was ok. I wonder if it would have wowed me if it would have been hot-to-table.
It's tough to be in a mall, get good help and provide a good experience. My first thoughts are that the manager is not looking at this from a guest experience perspective. Here's what I look for.
Am I excited to try this place out? Is this place clean enough that I trust them with my food? Is my food hot and fresh? Does my food taste good? Was the staff friendly? Would I doubt a return visit?
My answers are:
Yes, I wanted my son to live it. Not really, the dim lighting really had me second guessing the problems I was already seeing. No, cold food = trash Yes, surprisingly it had a good flavor. Yes, my cup was never dry and her attitude was right Yes, I doubt I'll be back. While it wasn't Too expensive for burgers, the price was too much to eat cold and likely...
