We arranged a 3 month stay at Ghost Hill Campground to begin in early April. The website misrepresents the campground by showing pictures of what appears to be retired couples enjoying a quiet evening on a spacious lot with grass and trees and serenity. Upon arrival we were shocked to find the campground a vast, densely crowded city of motor-homes packed like sardines in an infrastructure of crushed stone roads and RV lots as far as the eye can see. I talked to Susan a few days later and asked if we left early would we be able to receive a reimbursement. She said if we left by April 15th, she would reimburse us half of our payment, since they have a long list of people waiting to get into the campground. We jumped through hoops to find an alternate living arrangement and moved the RV out on April 12th. We talked to Susan that afternoon to let her know we were off the property and how she wanted to handle the reimbursement. Susan now changed her story and decided that they were not going to reimburse any funds. I pleaded with Susan that we would have not gone through so much trouble and additional expense if she had told us that from the beginning. Susan denied she ever offered anything. We could hear her husband berating her in the background. A truly sad place and sad situation. See actual photos below we took at the campground. This is a place for folks looking for a long-term low-income environment to live. All...
Read moreThey call it ghost hill for a good reason, its a scary place. We booked by phone for its convenient location &price. I got the feeling we were the only vacationers there. After begrudgingly helping me line my camper up in my space he was at my drivers window for cash payment. After leveling the camper we had to walk in Georgia Red Clay too hook up water & electric which were on the wrong side. The sewer was up hill. Figure that one out. Next there was really no room to open the awning, nor would I want to due to the sewer smell. When we were leaving I had a damaged TV antenna laying on top of my camper. The Santa looking dude came and threatened me that if I HIT HIS WIRES MY INSURANCE WOULD HAVE TO PAY! Which is kindof a given, but i didn't appreciate the threatening tone. There were campers on cinder blocks, campers with window air conditioners. Campers that obviously had not moved in a long time. On a more positive note, Stone Mountain Police frequent the campground to use the bathroom. This is not no, ...
Read moreI stayed here for a month with my brand new 5th wheel camper and I had to leave because of the conditions. The 45 plus year old bath house was a mess. Paint was chipping off the walls and floors and they have a infestation of water bugs. 75% of the campers are permanent residence for a lot of men in this campground. You'll never see children or females staying here. Pros: Basic TV reception is good with antenna - I could get 60 stations because Atlanta is so close by. Cons: $450 - $500 average cost per month which is high for these conditions/surroundings. This campground has NO WI-FI or CABLE TV or LAUNDRY ROOM or SWIMMING POOL or CHILDREN'S PARK/PLAY GROUNDS and the owner(s) don't except any credit cards, they except cash $$ ONLY. Owners/Managers are hard to get a hold of. Recommendations: I would recommend planning your stay at the Stone Mountain Camp Grounds or Stone Mountain Heights RV Park. I hope this...
