Just stopped into this store front in strousburg on 616 Main Street. Very nice inside, rustic but small. They had an art event at the time of our tasting visit. But everyone was pleaseant. The wines we tried were white, hard ciders which they had three for tastings and 2 reds. I prefer whites. Their wines all smelled lovely but drier then I like for my taste. The people are helpful that tend to you however they don't sell the hard ciders or sangria to take home at this tasting location which is what I wanted after opting for the 8 tastes for $10. We wanted to buy to share with some family members later that evening. I was told I could go to the location where they make the hard ciders and even discussed the jug cost and refill cost. Because we were disappointed they didn't sell it at this store She stated that the hardcider location would be open. That the drive is only 10minutes from the Main Street store all while she was looking at her watch. It was 4:55pm. She said we could make it and had plenty of time, they close at 6pm. It's snowing so the roads are a little slick but I was looking forward to sharing a new cider with family so we drove over to the winery. Got there at 5:08 and all the lights were out. It would have been nice if they called the winery to ask them to wait for us knowing we were heading over there for a couple of bottles and a jug of sangria.
Now looking at the website it shows that site closes at 5. So the owner didn't really know the closing time and sent us farther from home on a snowing evening to a...
Read moreI have done a lot of wine tastings before and cider tastings as well, RAW URBAN has a good product for being such a new URBAN winery. I love the decorate the inside of the store was amazing and the outside as well. The person that did the taste was knowledgeable but she was the only one working so she really didn't have time to talk to use about the winery or the story behind the wine. Which I though felt sorry for her because she did a nice job on being open. But she was the only one working behind the corner. The other down. Fall was that you couldn't take any of the cider with you from that location. The wine it's self was tad pricey 38$ for a bottle of wine is a lot. I drink a lot of wine and go to a lot of tastings. I though that was pricey. The other down fall was. The sampling there wasn't any deal if you taste all the wine you get a certain % off a bottle, I though the tasting was also pricey. Usually it's like 5$ and that's no big deal this was 10$ to try 8 wines. At a .25 oz Like I said I liked there ciders I would go back for the...
Read moreMy husband and I randomly stopped at RAW to check out the wines. This is our first time in Pennsylvania and we were just driving and decided to stop at some winerys .The space is beautiful with original fireplaces, pocket doors and bank safe , we were told it was once a bank back in the older days. The lady working was welcoming and knowledge. We did 5 tastings, unfortunately and oddly my husband didnt like anything, I only liked the sangria that we tried last. We tried the sweet wines which we typically always find a few we like, the ones we tried at RAW were just not for us but I'd recommend anyone who likes wine to stop in and check it out for yourself it's a beautiful intimate...
