Hamburger Marys — Restaurant in Toledo

The Hype Was Real... Until It Wasn't I was excited to try the new Hamburger Mary's location in downtown Toledo. With a reputation for quirky entertainment and delicious burgers, it seemed like a perfect spot for a fun night out. I made a reservation for two for opening week, anticipating a crowd. A Reservation That Didn't Reserve Much Upon arrival, I was surprised to learn we'd still have to wait for a table. The hostess explained they needed to clean one, despite the restaurant being practically empty. This wait time, which stretched to 30 minutes after our initial wait in the foyer, was frustrating, especially considering our reservation. An Empty Restaurant, A Full Wait What made the wait even more puzzling was the emptiness of the restaurant. The bar and many tables were open, and it seemed there shouldn't have been a wait for a reserved table. The hostess offered no updates throughout the 30-minute wait, adding to the disappointment. Moving On, But Hoping for Improvement Faced with a time constraint for another event, we decided to forgo a table. While I can't comment on the food or service itself, the long wait time for a reservation and the lack of communication from the staff left a negative first impression. Hoping for a Second Chance I truly hope Hamburger Mary's can iron out these kinks in their new location. The concept has a lot of potential, and I'd love to return for a chance to experience the fun atmosphere and delicious food I hear so much about. I called a week ahead of our scheduled event and talk to Alexia and made reservations for 12 people I told her that we have never been there, Alexia said she would set us by the stage. She said the show starts at 7 pm. We showed up 15 minutes before our scheduled reservation only be told that they do not take reservations after 5:30. I told hostess that I spoke with Alexia she said we had reservation and we would be put by the stage. I was informed again that she gave us the wrong information. I also found out the show did not start at 7 it starts at 8. So we had to wait over an hour to get a table. Management needs to make sure their staff has the right information to pass along to their customers.

As we waited in the bar area we order drinks one of my guests had lipstick on her drink glass that wasn't hers. When we did finally get seated our server took 20 minutes to bring the water and drinks. After being there almost 2 hours we finally put our food order in , the food was okay my french fries look like they were at the bottom of the bag I had just little bits and pieces.

My husband got his drink only again to have lipstick on it. GROSS... make sure the dishes are clean before using them.

There really isn't a show per say the performers just work the floor.

I gave this place four stars because the experience started out less than par, but the management and waiter stepped up make the experience much better. We had a 5:30 reservation and were seating promptly. No server came to our table in the 30 minutes we waited, despite the place not being busy and several servers were available but just walked past our table. We stood up ready to leave and pointed out to the managers what had happened before leaving to make sure it wouldn't happen to any other diners. The managers insisted on making things right so we gave them a chance and sat back down. The manager came over soon after to explain that a waiter had taken another waiters shift and it wasn't properly marked on their table list. Our waiter Tyler came right over to take our orders and was enthusiastic and personable. Our drinks came out promptly, and I was pleasantly surprised that the food was much better than I had expected (I had low expectations since it's more of a place you go for entertainment than just food), although I'd suggest to the owners that they use larger chicken patties that cover more of the bread (mine only covered half) but the flavor was excellent.
