I made reservations 2 weeks in advance for a birthday brunch 9/24/23. I did so through open table due to the phones ringing busy 3 days in a row. It also states you have to call for a party larger than 6. I had to message them requesting a party of 8. I also informed them that we would prefer not to sit at a high top due to guests medical disabilities/ activities limitation. Upon arriving I was informed they can not accommodate that, any party above 6 has to be seated at a high top or sit at separate tables.
Our reservation was for 12:00pm. Upon arrival I was informed that all guest must be present to be seated. We were waiting on 2 to arrive. We got seated around 12:23, the table was not yet set up for dining. The other tables had plates, glasses, napkins, and silverware prepped. A gentleman brought us water. The water smelled like fish. Nobody drank their water due to this. We placed an order for alcohol beverages. About 10 minutes had passed and then we placed our brunch order. Our drinks had yet to arrive at this point. Our server did state their was only one bartender, but drinks shouldn’t take too much longer. At this point there were only 3 other tables dining.
My drink and 2 others come out. The serves states the bartender was still making the rest of the order. About 2-3 minutes later our food comes out and the chicken and waffles and cinnamon roll pancakes were amazing! We requested silverware, napkins, extra plates because they had yet to be brought over. The server handed the silverware to us and asked us to pass them down because the table was already supposed to be set up prior to being seated. The rest of the group requested to cancel their drink order since they never arrived. The server walks over to the bar and says they are ready now. It was about 1:20 by time all drinks arrived. Nearly an hour after being placed.
Our server stated she already informed her manager of the issue. She reported she also asked for help and it was not being provided. She also informed us she is 19 years old and has been working there 2 weeks. Halfway through our meal the manager comes over briefly, doesn’t introduce himself, and doesn’t acknowledge the issue the server had already informed him about. He walked away. I asked the server if she in fact told him there was an issue with the service, she said yes and that because we didn’t request to speak to him directly and make a formal complaint that he assumed everything was okay. So the entire table requested to speak to him, again. He came to the table and said just that!! We then said the drinks came extremely late. He also said “when drinks take that long, they are being made with love”. We then stated we didn’t even have an opportunity to order another drink, and he with a straight face said “why not”. We said, because it would take another 45 minutes. He then followed up with “it gives us more time to hangout with you ladies” This manager, Maher, was extremely unprofessional. He never apologized or truly acknowledged the issue. He said “let me see what we can do to make this better, but with alcohol, we don’t like to discount or comp that”. We were NOT asking for a discount, we simply wanted him to acknowledge the terrible service. He never did! In fact, we could see him and the bartender chatting and pointing at our table. By this time, we are the only people seated except for 1 other table of 2. Our server then informed us that the bartender is saying she never took that long and she doesn’t know what we are talking about. The young lady was so upset at this point. She said she was being blamed for the whole thing.
Then it took the server and manager over 45 minutes to get the bills. We sat their just waiting. The server checked in with us to inform us the system kept crashing. The manager took of $10 for each person who ordered a drink. This was nice and appreciated. Again, this was not our goal or focus. We simply wanted the manager to acknowledge the terrible service. At 2:20 we finally left.
The food was great, however, the...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at The Brim House in downtown Toledo at the Renaissance restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.
From the moment we walked up to the restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly face, despite arriving late and potentially going over their closing time. Paul, our host, warmly welcomed us and escorted us to our table, offering us drinks along the way.
While it was dark when we arrived, we truly appreciated the ambience the following morning during breakfast. The restaurant boasts a stunning view of the river and the bridge, creating a picturesque setting. The overall atmosphere of The Brim House is warm, inviting, and exudes a sense of hospitality. Friendly faces were everywhere, making us feel immediately comfortable.
Our waiter, Connor, greeted us with a genuine smile and proceeded to guide us through the specials of the day. He took the time to explain the origin of the wine we ordered, as it was from France. It was refreshing to have a server who went beyond the basics and provided us with interesting details. Connor's recommendations for our meal were spot-on, and we decided to order everything he suggested. It was clear that he had a deep knowledge and passion for the food.
The quality of the food at The Brim House exceeded our expectations. We didn't anticipate such remarkable flavors and attention to detail in a restaurant located inside a hotel. Each dish was cooked to perfection, with the right temperature and an exquisite blend of flavors. The price we paid for such outstanding quality was truly a bargain. In fact, I would have gladly paid a higher price for the level of taste and presentation we experienced.
The customer service at The Brim House was second to none. This dining experience ranks among the best we have had in Toledo and many other places we have visited. The staff treated us with the utmost respect and made us feel welcomed and valued throughout our entire meal. Their friendly and welcoming demeanor added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience.
In conclusion, I highly recommend The Brim House at the Renaissance restaurant in downtown Toledo. The food quality, the reasonable prices, and the exceptional customer service make it a standout choice. Whether you're a local or a visitor, The Brim House is a must-visit destination for a memorable dining...
Read moreToday I was extremely disappointed in the service at brim at house. I previously went with my boyfriend about a month ago and we had a great experience and great service. It started at the valet where we asked about free parking for dining at brim house and the valet man proceeded to say “I have no clue you’re gonna have to ask inside”. we said ok and proceeded to walk in, we asked the host and she was unsure about the free parking as well and referred to her co worker who told us to give the valet a code when we leave. she then sat us and our waitress (who did not introduce herself, young and long blonde hair) came over and brought us water, while she brought that I put my drink order in and she ran off before my boyfriend could say what drink he wanted. She came back with my Diet Pepsi and asked if we were ready to order, I got the chicken and waffles and he got the steak and eggs and a mimosa. My food was decent, however the breading was falling off the chicken and his steak that he requested medium well was well done. We didn’t complain about the food at all as it was not worth it. Our waitress didnt check on us or ask how our food was not one time. She brought the check while we were still working on our plates without asking if we wanted anymore drinks or anything and just said (no rush) and dropped it and walked off. at this point we are irritated so my boyfriend put the money on the check, and when she came back I asked her what time they close, (knowing they close at 2), she stuttered and said “uhh 2, why did you want something else?” I said no and she took our plates. Keep in mind we were sat around 12:40 and our check was brought to us at 1:05. we are young and my boyfriend is black this gave the impression she rushed us out off these factors assuming we wouldn’t tip her well (which obviously after that we did not tip well at all.) I’m not sure if she was told by her boss to give us our check but regardless you don’t treat paying customers this way. I used to be a server and I know what good service is. We headed out and gave the valet man the code which he didn’t even need to punch in the computer which threw me off as well because he said he didn’t know what we were talking about at first. The 2 stars are for our first experience when we went and the food the first time around. We are sad to say we will not...
