I would’ve given this hotel 5 stars based on everything but the comfort of the beds-hard. I don’t want to focus on the negative so I’ll list the positives. First is the staff. When I called ahead, the male employee on the phone was beyond helpful and personable and same for the female employee who checked us in. She told us where everything was and offered her assistance if needed. Our room was on a corner just around from the elevator with no neighbors on either side (just across the hall). The layout wasnt typical. The bathroom had a large sliding door unlike the usual layout with the bathroom up front. The bathroom was across from the two beds. If you turned right there was the toilet, straight ahead was the sink/vanity, and to the left was the shower which had jets down lower which were at the perfect height for me (I’m 5’10”) to massage my back or hips. I noticed though that after the shower, the floor would get extremely wet even with a mat, because the shower door opened outward over the floor. I liked the two flushing options on toilet to save water. There was a good sized closet with shelving to the right perfect for holding shoes or small items. There was also a long slotted bench under the window good for holding 2 large suitcases side by side. There was a Keurig coffee maker on a counter above the microwave which was above the smaller fridge. Those appliances were located across from the entrance to the right. To the left was a long pull out couch with an ottoman which had a large wooden tray with handles handy for carrying breakfast up to the room if you didn’t feel like eating in the dining area. Across from the couch was a desk area which had a sliding partition. This desk was basically the division between sleeping and lounging areas. Not a bad design. Different than what I’m used to, but the only negative I could think of is when others are sleeping, the sliding door to bathroom and lights might wake up the others. It was definitely roomy enough for 2 adults and a 9 and 12 yo. We used the pool twice. Large and not too deep. Plenty of seating around with chaise loungers, chairs, and a table. There were towels available on every chair back or in shelves at one end. The pool had large walk-in stairs. Breakfast was good-waffles, good coffee, and other usual items. There was plenty of seating and the food was setup nicely. If not for the beds hurting my hips , I would have 100% loved everything. There was even an outdoor fire...
Read moreMy daughter and I really enjoyed our room at Springhill Suites, and the lobby was a very nice place to hang out and relax. It is also the area where you eat their breakfast, which is also really good. Checkin was very easy, staff was attentive and professional. Our room was on level 3, right next to the elevator, but the noise from the elevator wasn't an issue (by the way, the elevators were fast). The problem that we had with noise was coming from above us. By the sounds of the constant running and thumping, I am guessing it was kids above us. Aside from the noise issue, the room was quite large and comfortable and clean. Plenty of lights, and great blackout curtains. I loved that the desk area with a couch could be separated from the bed area by a window-like glass panel. However, the panels were loose in the sliding track, and every step, every movement caused the glass panels to jiggle and make a clattering noise. I was able to finagle the panels so the clattering sound was minimized. The bathroom floor was in bad shape though. The tiles were badly laid, and the grout around them was crumbling. It was so significant that the tiles moved and slid when they were stepped on. I believe I could have just picked the tiles up from the floor, but I didn't want to do that. They need to get their subcontractors back to regrout those tiles. There were a couple of other issues in the bathroom in the shower. The controls for the shower are strange in that you have to turn your back to the shower head to find the control for the water temperature. There was no indication that it was a hot/cold control, and I took a mostly cold shower until I turned around and tried the lever on the opposite wall.. I have no idea what the controls in front of me were (my front to the shower head), but I ended up getting sprayed directly in the face twice. It was a bit confusing. Even with the shower door completely closed, water had pooled out of the bottom of the shower and onto the floor, running toward the carpeted room. I did what I could to sop up the water, but that shower door needed some work as well. I know all this sounds bad, but we really did like it here. It is a great hotel. I would come again, only I would ask for a room on the fourth floor. And I would hope that the bathroom tile issues were only in the room I was in, and not every room. Everyone who worked here was very nice, and we enjoyed a couple of...
Read moreI was at the SpringHill Suites Fishkill for a wedding. The lobby area was warm and inviting. There is a fire place and the décor is very modern. The area is also extremely spacious. So spacious that we were able to have two after parties in the lobby - one small one the day everyone arrived, and one larger one after the wedding. We ordered pizza's and drinks and hung out until the wee hours of the morning. The staff was great in providing help, utensils, paper plates and cups - and even brought out bowls of chips. I stayed in a King room. The room is spacious and the layout is done in a way where it doesn't just feel like one big room. The bar/fridge/microwave are near the entryway - you don't see it from the bed. The pull out sofa did not look like pull out sofa. It was large and had a large ottoman. The room was furnished by West Elm and had a luxurious feel. The closet has shelving which s a nice touch. The AC unit has a bench/rack over it so you can place things on top of it or sit on it and it also hides the AC unit. The bathroom is spacious with a nice layout also. There isn't a tub but a shower stall with glass doors. I feel like this is more practical and takes up less space. The selection at breakfast is much better than what you'll see at other hotels providing continental breakfast. They also include iced coffee at their coffee bar! The dining area is huge and kept very clean. They provide games - jenga, puzzles, uno, cards etc so that you can just hang out downstairs when you don't want to hang out in the room. The laundry room is clean, has a tv, chairs and a folding area. Also there are plenty of machines and dryers. Most places only provide 2 washers and 2 dryers and they are usually already in use. I didn't have to wait. The pool is large and the pool area is clean. The outdoors had a fire pit and 2 grills. I would've liked to use them but we didn't have time. I actually wanted to extend another night but the hotel was fully committed as there was another wedding party checking in that day. This property is near a Walmart Supercenter (I made 4 trips there in 3 days), at only 4 minutes away. It is also near a Cracker Barrel - which I didn't get to go to but - who doesn't love CB? There is plenty to do in the area and is close to hiking and shopping areas. I would definitely stay here again and recommend. Also - the staff in all areas - super friendly and super helpful. Thanks...
