I am officially hooked on this restaurant. So far we've gone four times in the past two weeks and every visit hasn't disappoint. And today, I noticed that indoor dining was being allowed. I think that might be because Long Island is in phase 4.
From their signature bowls section of the menu, so far I've tried their Salmon Lovers bowl and the Poke Frisee bowl. Both were absolutely fantastic. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. And I love that the staff are not stingy with ingredients. They really pack the bowls to the very brim.
While I've loved their signature bowls, my preference lately has been to create my own. The Three Protein Build Your Own bowl for around $15 is such a good bargain. It's so much fun picking the ingredients as you go down the isle. And some of their offerings are not the usual items you would see at other poke restaurants. There are too many to mention but I've had some of their hot items like shrimp tempura, crab cakes and eel teriyaki. I've also tried some of their various mushrooms, octopus sashimi, two types of kani salad, tempura flakes, lotus chips and rice crackers bits for toppings.
From their fruit bowl section of the menu, we've had their acai bowl and dragon bowl. Both were delicious and refreshing. I haven't tried any of their sushi rolls yet but that's on my list for my next visit which I'm already planning. I cannot...
Read moreThey increased the price $1 only 4 months ago, and I just visited their store for a pickup order and realized they’ve increased the price $1 more again. All within half a year $2+ increase.
Today’s visit disappointed me. From the staff telling me I have to choose 5 different toppings and I can’t repeat a topping when they’ve always done that. Then the oshinko is dry and there is no pickle juice from biting into it, this must have been there for more than a day or two ! I ended up getting food poisoning from the lack of freshness in the food Their poke is fresh quality and big portions. They recently increased the price of both portions by $1. Reason it’s a 4 star rating is because in the city you can get the same portions for a little less, PF (2 proteins) $14.95 vs pokeworks $13.95; PF (3 proteins) $16.95 vs pokeworks $16.50. It would only make sense for Poke Frisée to charge less than the poke locations in Manhattan. Besides that, this is a great poke spot, great quality, great atmosphere & have the options of Hawaiian drinks which are offered in Pokeworks locations. Their choices of corn and mango are not sweet tho, the corn is just chewy no sweetness, the mango is lacking in sweetness too. Overall, I would...
Read moreCHECK your credit card statements!! My family and I had been popping in here WEEKLY for lunch, this week I sent my daughter in while I waited in the car with the dog. She is an authorized user on my card and I set a $40 limit. As soon as she purchased I received a notification of $36 total. Woman didn't give her a receipt until she asked for it twice, with the woman asking where I was. Thank god she got the receipt! I look two days later and it is now $43. I asked if she left a tip, she said no, she hit no tip, signed and asked for the receipt 2x. Even if she did add tip, it would have been rejected at over $40 and would have been on the final receipt. Now they are playing dumb and telling my CC we added a $7 tip. For what?? It is a takeout place and we have never added a tip before! Great job, Poke Frisee, let's take advantage of a teen ordering, hope trying to scam $7 from her...
