I stayed at the beach house in Hugger 1 from May 2-12, 2022. I have always given a glowing review when staying at this property. Here’s some of my stay history…I started staying at the Sunset Beach House in 2016. Originally I rented the Sandpiper Suite & Tree House for my family & friends to join me. After my first stay I began renting the only the Sandpiper Suite. I was very sad when the ownership transferred & could no longer rent the suite alone. I switched to staying in a hugger after the property sold. Despite the size of the accommodation, the small quirky bathroom & a bed access only from one side, I love the property. It is why I have returned multiple times a year since my first stay in 2016. To say my last visit was disappointing is an understatement. To start: 1) though the room was clean [except for the glass in the door. I cleaned it. ]there were no plates, glasses, spoons. [Obviously no inventory was done to see that items moved around from room to room or broken were replaced] 2)the freezer was frozen to the point that the drawers would not slide & one drawer was on top of the refrigerator because it could not fit in its slot because of all the ice. I cook. I bring food. A cleaning person was there & gave me extra towels so I could defrost the freezer. I spent the better part of my first evening defrosting it. I used my blow dryer to get the ice off all the coils including up under the racks where ice had been allowed to freeze & never fully defrosted. I took a break for sunset. 3) No internet (addressed but never fixed) 4)curtain on door window falling down. Duck taped.( It was addressed on May 3rd)All of the Adirondack chairs were up by the huggers instead of reset to the sand & on the deck out by the sea grass for sunset viewing. I & my friend can not lift or drag them 6)the picnic tables that should be set out, were stacked by the stairs to the house, blocked the double gate & could not be used. I spoke to the office to get the kitchen things that were missing I mentioned the chairs& tables & was told there is a service that comes & reset those on Mondays & Fridays. I arrived on Monday, May 2nd and it was not done. The property was messy from a weekend wedding. The outdoor furniture was not reset. Plates, glasses, spoons, a few more items the kitchen was missing were taken care of Tuesday. I wish I could remember the woman’s name, she ask to see all the issues. She also moved 4 of those heavy Adirondack chairs out to the deck so we would have chairs to watch the sunset. I sent a text regarding the picnic tables & the raking. I ask to please have things back in order for Mother’s Day. I had family coming and wanted access to the picnic tables. Again told they would come Friday. In my opinion, your service missed Monday they should have come immediately on Tuesday & then again on Friday. I sent a text asking that everything be put back in order for Mother's Day. Friday rolls around & again no show. I did get an email or text stating they had an issue with their equipment but they would be there on Saturday so the grounds would be attended to and I would have picnic tables on Sunday. That did not happen either. For me, the property is not getting the attention it has had in the past. I know it is different than other properties but it’s uniqueness should be something to embrace, take pride in & keep in good order. I stay because I can walk from my unit onto the sand & out to the water. I stay because of the beautiful, well groomed property. I love the pines and have appreciated the upkeep & raking that it requires & have been grateful for it in the past. Maybe this is an isolated occurrence & has never happened before. But as I stated earlier this was not my first stay. It was not my first stay this year & not my first stay after a wedding. I have experienced a decline in the attention to this property that makes me so sad. I hope this was an isolated incident and my next stay will be more like what is projected on...

It cost $4200 to rent the whole place for 4 nights. But they add on another $4500 if you have a wedding there and it comes with ZERO services, no event or liability insurance, no set up, tear down, not even a courtesy clean of the rooms when you check out. You will have to sweep the sand from the entire house your self, take out all the trash and do every dish. We also had to rake the whole back yard twice, the crew they sent to blow the place clean did a terrible job and left this horribly sharp burrs that get stuck in your feet and are the size of walnuts!
For that kind of money I would say stay at a hotel where at least the coffee and clean up are included. You can get married on the beach nearly anywhere for free, if you need chairs and an arch a company will do all that for less than this.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my wedding day! It was beautiful here, just lovely. But I want to save you the stress of having to clean up a whole 3 floor house after your wedding night! We cleaned for hours and were still billed for something. I'm going to post a photo of the break down in price and Yes I really did stay here, my wedding is the one with the burlap tables and the...
Read moreI wanted to book 3 nights online. I got the confirmation that the dates have vacancy and that I just have to wait for a contract they will prepare and I have to sign afterwards. So I waited 1 week...As I still didn‘t get a contract I asked back when I will receive it. I got then a short e-mail that there is no vacancy. In my point of view this is more than unprofessional and not the way you should treat your potential guests. What upset my most, is the fact that I had to ask back they would not have informed me that there...
