The staff was friendly when we arrived. Facility seemed clean and welcoming. Lobby was done really well and we really liked the spotlights outside. When we got to our room, it was fairly cool- which was lovely!- but quite on the humid side and only got worse in the few amount of hours that we stayed. My little boy and I were finally able to fall asleep and we both coughed the whole time we were in the room and finally woke up at about 2am unable to deal with it any more. Our asthma was not going to be able to withstand staying there. Our bedding was moist, all of our items on the table and chair near the air conditioner and everything on the dresser- all moist. I assume from the air conditioning. The food in the fridge felt as though it were left out all night when we removed it to leave. We packed up and waited for a decent hour to drive home and checked out and left. I explained what happened to the girl at the front desk. The gentleman in the room next to us was in the lobby and overheard and he said that he had the same trouble in his room as well and said that we should demand to have our money back. The girl set the receipt on the counter and we just got out of there since we were both coughing and felt miserable, it was still the middle of the night with only a couple hours of sleep, and a drive home to do. My son was happy to at least get the last bottle of Sunny D from the vending machine which would have at least helped for the drive home except it was awful tasting and ended up being expired when I checked it. What should have been a very special occasion with a bonus hotel vacation and swimming, turned into an absolute nightmare. Not to mention the $160 that we totally wasted basically loading and unloading and just being miserable. I wish we never even stopped and had just driven home but it seemed like a fun treat to have a little mini vacay and swim. None of that...
Read moreHave stayed at this location previously and did not have any issues. Stayed the end of July 2024 and for some reason the system decided to check us out and then check us back in during the middle of our stay. Got a phone call at 6:50am asking if someone was in the room. This was the only morning we had to sleep in. We were staying at the hotel because we were with a group up in the nearby state park. Service in the park was spotty and could not receive calls during the day once we left the hotel area. Found a voicemail days later concerning this mid week checkout debacle. After our originally scheduled checkout, we found additional charges on the credit card that did not equate to the total of the room per the email. No other services were used or charged to the room. When we called the hotel, they said the safe charges were added. We didn't use any safe in the room or the hotel. I'm still waiting for the fill in manager to call me since I was told the manager was on vacation until mid week. I can say that we had clean towels each day and did not require beds to be made each day. The breakfast room is nice and there is coffee available 24/7 along with a basket tier of fruit. The fruit, coffee, and muffins hit the spot for us each morning as we were truly only in our room from about 11pm-6:45am most days. As for security, you must have a room key to enter after 11pm. We did like this feature and did not feel unsafe...
Read moreWe were in Room 109 which had a bad smell as soon as we entered the room. The bathroom vent was on as soon as we opened the door, I believe in hopes to clear out the smell, but it did not appear to help. My partner described the smell as "smelly feet or old tennis shoes". We hoped the smell would eventually go away but it did not. When we woke up, he had a sinus headache and my nose was stuffed up. We believe this was due to the odor. Other than that, everything else about this hotel was great! Hot water and water pressure was good, beds were comfortable, pillows were fine, room was clean, the gym we did not use but it looked great, and the breakfast was very good as well (waffles, a couple of cereals with milk, 4 instant oatmeal flavors, yogurt, biscuits and gravy, red & green apples, mandarin oranges [although one of the oranges has a bad soft spot on it but there were others that were fine], bananas, coffee, etc.). I also appreciated how they had actual silverware, bowls, coffee mugs, in addition to paper plates, and plastic silverware so if you want to avoid the plastic disposables you can. The staff was courteous. Overall, I am giving a 4/5, but due to the odor and my partner's headache, he is saying he would have given a 3/5. There was also a coffee station near the front desk to grab...
