Upon checking in last evening Alan behind the desk told me that if I do a review to make sure I mention his name. I'm more than happy to oblige. This was my fifth visit at this hotel in the past year I come here every couple of months just stay the night because I travel from out of state to come here for cancer treatment. The rate is low and affordable. I am not looking for luxury. So I can usually overlook misgivings. When I returned to the desk last night to make a purchase from their snack items Alan asked me how was the room. So here is my exact response. I said there are some unfortunate aspects but I can overlook them. He wanted clarification so I gave it. I told him I want you to understand I don't fault the staff but I do lay blame on ownership because owners of businesses giving management team a budget and it is usually restrictive. Managers then have to make the best of what they can. I firmly believe that when a hotel or any other business has a mindset that a guest can tolerate aspects of the conditions that are less than desirable because they offer a low rate that that mindset itself lacks a courteous appreciation for the guest’s business. Why they think it is acceptable to have a floor lamp that leans like the leaning Tower of Pisa with the finial missing from the lampshade so that it dangles along with stains and filth on the lampshade without replacing it is the mindset that says all the guests can overlook this. There was Scotch tape holding the lamp together. The baseboard of the bed has pieces of plastic ripping off of it with what looks like paint spots. I can overlook all of this but what I will not overlook is if you are going to ask me how is my room and I tell you and then you look at me and defend yourself then don't ask. Because that really put me in a mood he didn't believe me. He cannot fathom that they had Scotch tape on the lamp. So maybe you'll believe the evidence I post here which I really don't like to do a review like this but you are not going to speak down to me by further telling me that the owner is not cheap, that he is your friend. Perhaps he is not cheap but my impression is not a fond one and I'm entitled to that. At 8:00 this morning I received a text on my telephone asking me what time I was checking out? I went to breakfast at 8:35 so I could make a choice between fruit loops or waffles. No bacon no eggs. And no staff. A few other guests came in around 8:45 and one came in at 8:55. All of a sudden a Nazi appeared and she turned off the television and the lights and we were all in the dark. Again I think this is cheap. Get the guest out of the building so you can get the staff out of the building and when the staff is not in the building and you're down to just one person at the front desk then you're saving on labor. Alan will keep his job because the owner will be so pleased that he was defended but the owner will be losing this guest. I wish Alan a good future and career. I really do. I think he means well but the execution of manners needs addressing.

Although I feel bad for giving the hotel a 2 star rating, there is just so much ick and the rooms are so outdated. First, I want to say that the front desk staff were all so kind and friendly! Absolutely great! But.. as soon as you step off the elevator everything goes downhill. The hallways are dark and carpeting is old, dirty and grimy. My room had hard wood floors and although I thought they were clean; when I stepped in the shower the amount of black that washed off my feet was alarming! My BIGGEST issue is that there is NO light in the room. The bathroom had a mirror with a soft blueish glow, there was no light in the entry way, and only lamps in the rest of the room. I unplugged and put one of the lamps in the bathroom so I could get ready. When I did this I saw just how gross and dirty the lamp cord and bottom of it was. It was very gross. I then moved that lamp into the entryway since that is where the full length mirror was. When I did this, it showed how nasty behind the dresser/tv stand was. Like, it was a health concern at that point. But I don’t think it’s at fault of the housekeeping, the rooms are so dark, that I didn’t know this until I started moving the light around. The walls and doors are so paper thin that you can hear whispers and every tv that is on. During the day, the housekeeping was so loud and noisy it made it difficult to try and focus on the work I was doing. Breakfast items included a waffle maker, no toppings besides syrup and butter. Yogurt and jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches. Juice machine and coffee. Not very much to choose from. I didn’t look at the pool, as it was chilly and rainy while I was there. & their balconies are the craziest thing I’ve seen. 2 feet of balcony room, that over look the parking lot and freeway. What is the point of this!? Once again, I do want to point out that the staff was friendly. Always greeting as you walk in and out and there was zero issues with check in or check out.

Currently staying here (as I booked and prepaid for this stay)Went through hell of having a flat tire on our way to this hotel from out of town, so we checked in around 9pm. The outside and lobby are nice, hot throughout the hallways. But our room is ridiculous, didn’t seemed cleaned very well at all. Cobwebs in various corners, toilet had stains, shower knobs are a struggle, very dim in the room. Battery for remote was on 15% , and the volume button won’t work. Beds hard, one bed had tooo many stains and some type of bug maybe a beetle, didn’t look like a bed bug was on it, but my son killed it before I could take a pic. Called the front desk to ask for another clean room, was told they didn’t have any, and they also didn’t have clean towels or sheets for replacement. Was told that they would leave a note for the morning staff, called around 11 this morning for housekeeping to come, was told they were on my floor but couldn’t give me a time when they would be to clean the room. It’s now 2:30, and still no service. The worst stay I’ve ever experienced. **Update I had to go down to the front desk to get more towels, they explained to me that they no longer offer trash bags as part of being a sustainable hotel, okay I get it, but still slight inconvenience. As I got back up to my room, the housekeeper was finally there questioning my 11yo son, then begins to question what was wrong with the room in a very annoyed condescending tone. Showed her the areas which I put pictures of, then kept asking me what I wanted her to do?? So I guess she didn’t understand her job role. Tried the pool out to try and make our stay better, my son enjoyed it, but the water temperature was too cold to me, and they had an empty bin of pool towels. Went back to our room to shower , only to discover zone towel when I unfolded it had hairs on it, gross. This is the worst stay I’ve experienced EVER !

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago and I returned because it was pretty decent but I thought too soon. I will not be back. I feel so unwelcome. I had no idea how to get the television to work so I went downstairs to ask at the desk and I was in a t-shirt and shorts whereas there were probably 30 men in the lobby dressed in suits and ties for some meeting and guess who received their needs catered to while I waited and waited and waited and just gave up? I could not get the heat to work. But I didn't bother to report it because I would have just been told maintenance will check on it tomorrow more than likely. I'm just very angry right now because I have made a mistake and I admit I made a mistake and I am human. I don't like being punished for it however by people running a hotel. I went down to breakfast at 5 after 9:00 because I thought it was 5:00 after 8:00 because I was in Chicago the day before and my timing was mixed up. Breakfast was over at 9:00 and I went back to the desk and I asked the guy if I could get some juice and he said you should be able to. But the problem is that there was a gate pulled down to the entrance of the breakfast area. Now let's be honest what does a gate serve a purpose for other than to keep people out which means that they do not trust their guests. Is it really necessary to pull down a gate unlock people out from getting a cup of apple juice so they can take their medications? I'm a cancer patient and I have six medications so I had to leave to go to a gas station just to acquire juice when on the other side of the gate is plenty of juice and what more than anything peeved me off is that on the other side of that gate was a man sitting there having breakfast while scrolling on his phone and he looked up at me and I looked at him and he went right back to his phone. I'm like good luck buddy cuz I don't know how you're going to get out of here. I had a notification not once but twice of text messages on my phone beginning at 8:00 in the morning from the hotel saying you can expedite your check out now and let us know what time you want to leave? Could I just wake up first and try to orient my day without having to be concerned about how soon you can get housekeeping in here? There is no sense of welcome at this hotel. I'm done with this place. I have to come here every two weeks for cancer treatment and I am done...

If only every hotel experience that I have throughout the year could be like this I could be a much happier man when I travel. To note first and foremost the customer service is exceptional. The grounds from the parking lot into the inside of the hotel and throughout the hotel including my guest room featured everything immaculately clean. You can tell they anticipate your arrival. I was greeted with enthusiasm for my welcome from Ahmed. I was so pleased with him and later that evening I meant a woman named Amy who is working the third shift and I had told her I was really enjoying my stay and in a short discussion it was revealed to her from myself that I am in the area seeking cancer treatment. Her response was incredible as it was not formulaic or without sincere support. What a beautiful spirit she possesses. The following morning at checkout I had the pleasure to meet the manager Corey to whom I expressed my appreciation for his employees and he acknowledged their professionalism and I now must acknowledge him. in addition to my review I will tell you that I stayed on the 4th floor as I requested the top floor. As a point of information if you happen to get a guest room on the 4th floor make sure that you asked them to stay in the center of the floor or down towards the end far away from the laundry services that are provided on the 4th floor behind the elevator. The problem is if you were in room 400 up to 405 you could hear the washer and dryer with someone was using at 11:30 at night. I only knew this because I happened to come up the elevator at that time. It's not disturb me in room 410. I have seen in a few reviews where people have been skeptical about the breakfast that was provided the following morning. I agree it has limitations but what is once expectations in the first place do you really expect a buffet at a hotel? 2 years ago everybody complained about the bags that only a few hotels provided calling it grab and go. The purpose here is considerably steps above. I would suggest try to practice gratitude. Of course this is coming from a man who regularly contributes to kids who don't have but one meal a day in Kenya. Beautiful hotel and beautiful staff and I am beautifully...
