This place is amazing! Huge portions for a decent price, the food is delicious. Best service I've seen in awhile. I'm newish to the Metro Detroit area, and I've been checking out BBQ places around where I now live. I really like barbecue, especially brisket. To be honest, I haven't been super impressed. The meat at other places has been typically dry and the prices are very expensive for the small amount of food that you get. That is not the case for Mission BBQ. Thinking that it was going to be like the other places I've been to, I ordered the three meat plate so that I can have some leftovers. I will be eating for the next couple days. I way over did it. This is a ton of food. Lol. The cuts of brisket are thick. It's very juicy. The pulled pork is generously portioned and tastes great. I also got some mac and cheese, very good, and peach cobbler. I'm loving that they give you a piece of cornbread, too. I was disappointed that the other places I've been to didn't give you bread with your meal. It was extra, if you wanted it. On top of that, it's very good cornbread. When I was walking in I was greeted by the staff behind the counter enthusiastically. The area manager, Adam, introduced himself to me and was extremely friendly. This is my new favorite barbecue place in the area. I will be back. I definitely recommend giving it a try. 😄

Duplicitous Patriotic Marketing. 😠 The theme and look is cool 😎, and the food is good 😋, but their prices are uneconomical 💸. Moreover, this private for-profit company dosen't give donations from their own Corporate Accounts to Public/Private Organizations supporting Military Service Men/Women, Veterans, or Police & Fire. Instead, their website states, "Through the generous support of our loyal customers and communities we serve, more than $10 million and counting has been donated for national and local charitable organizations." Donations from Customers and Communities, but not the Company Mission BBQ. 🤔 Its patriotic stolen valour in favor of commerce. Mission BBQ is worth checking out once for its impressive-looking decor and tasty lunches/dinners. But readers, don't get the impression this private, for-profit, company is a charitable organization that directly aids financially Military Service Men/Women, Veterans, or Police & Fire. P.S.: Mission BBQ was capital-funded by public, for-profit companies Goldman Sachs and M&T Bank, reports Forbes.

UPDATE: After several more visits I'm forced to revise my rating downward!

By now they should have their act together, but both the food and service continue to be very inconsistent.

The final straw for me was this past Saturday. I tried to eat there, but before I could place an order I was informed that they were "sold out" of several meats and other items. This was around 6:00 P.M.! Nothing they had left appealed to me, so I was forced to leave. After my experiences I see no reason to return!

Original rating was 3 stars- see original comments below:

I really want to like this place. I think they have potential, but, so far, in my 3 visits they have been all around the perimeter of the target, but have failed in their mission to hit the bulls-eye.

I've had the brisket twice, and both times it was good. The first time I had it with the cheesy potatoes, and they were terrible (dry and pasty).

The second time I had it with their fresh cut fries, and they were cold.

The third time I had the pulled pork and fries. This time the fries were good, but the pork was terrible. Dry, hard, dry, chewy, and did I mention dry. I had to drown it in sauce to get enough moisture to be able to chew it.

On the way out I looked at another customers pulled pork sandwich- his looked great. I must have received the last of an old batch, and he got a fresh batch?

Also, on the first and third visits the corn bread was very dry and tired (again, had to put bbq sauce on it to get enough moisture to be able to eat it).

On the plus side, the prices seem reasonable (relative to other BBQ in the area), portions were big, and the restaurant was reasonably clean.

I think if the guy serving the trays did a little quality control, to make sure the product being served was up to standard, it would go a long way to help.

Hopefully they will get their sights dialed in, so after another visit I will be able to declare "Mission...

Mission BBQ: Where Great Food Meets Exceptional Service

Mission BBQ is one of the few restaurants in my area that truly excels in both food quality and customer service, particularly when it comes to takeout orders. Most places tend to overlook the details when packing takeout, often resulting in missing items, incorrect orders, or even someone else's meal entirely. This can be incredibly frustrating, especially once you're already home and it's too late to fix the mistake. However, Mission BBQ stands out by ensuring this never happens.

First and foremost, their food is consistently excellent. The BBQ is flavorful and perfectly cooked, making it a reliable choice for any meal. But what really sets them apart is their meticulous attention to detail with takeout orders. Here's how they do it:

When you arrive to pick up your order, you announce your presence. If you've pre-ordered, they promptly check to see if your food is ready. Once it is, they don't just hand you a bag and send you on your way. Instead, they bring the order to the counter and open up every single item in front of you. They meticulously go through the list on the receipt, showing you each item to ensure everything is correct. They double-check every detail and even sign off on it before handing over the bag.

This thorough process guarantees that you get exactly what you paid for, without any surprises when you get home. Mission BBQ’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is evident in every step of their service. If you're looking for a place that offers both great food and reliable takeout, Mission BBQ is definitely the...
