The first time I tried CrossFit, I didn't last. I gave it a second shot though here at Stay Strong and I can say that it was one of the better decisions I have made for the overall health and well being of my life.
Stay Strong has exactly what you are looking for when it comes to having a very knowledgeable coaching staff that focuses on technique and safety first, all while finding innovative ways to push their athletes regardless of skill levels. Further more they are great about challenging you to go that extra mile even outside of class with things like nutrition, mobility, extra strength conditioning, etc. The staff here has single handedly given me a new appreciation for just being a healthier individual in my day to day life.
Intimidated to come in alone? I don't blame you, I was as well. Upon your first few visits you'll quickly realize how close some of these athletes are and after a couple of years with them I can understand why. This is not an ego-oriented gym, but it is competitive gym in all the right ways. You will find athletes of all experiences and of varying skills, and as such you will always find someone who is rooting for you and pushing you to be better. I've seen this gym explode in excitement when someone hits a heavy Olympic lift the same way they explode when someone gets their first pull-up. They don't care where you are at in your journey, but they do care that you come in and put in the work. If you do that then I promise you they will welcome you with open arms. Once they do, you too will understand how its possible to meet some incredible people here.
If you're on that edge of deciding, I recommend you swing in and see what it is about. It will challenge you, more than most things I have attempted, but if you can stick with it and be consistent you will start seeing all the positive effects that you are looking for both mentally and physically.
10/10
*Bonus fact - The gym dog, Brock, is everyone's friend and if you get lucky enough he may choose you for pre class pets...
Read moreStay Strong CrossFit has not only improved my fitness but has become my family! I belonged to a Global Gym for over 14 years, thought I was getting a good two hour work- out and eating right but never saw the results. After getting thru the first month of CrossFit, the soreness lessened and results happened! I was seeing myself transform both physically and mentally. The fear of becoming bulky quickly vanished when my clothes were fitting looser. The intimidation of lifting weights disappeared when I continued to hit new PRs (Personal Records). Everyone around me helped to celebrate those milestones and continue to do so! After 1.5 years of living the lifestyle I took the next step on getting my Level 1 CrossFit Certificate. I gained more knowledge of the "sport" and was taught how to coach others about the thing I grew to appreciate so much. Aside from wanting to teach the importance of form and technique, I want to spread the word on how much CrossFit and Stay Strong has influenced my life. My 59 year old Dad tried out CrossFit 2 years ago when he wanted to add strength to help his triathlon performance. He now competes as a Masters for local competitions and had his sights on bigger goals. I have a group of friends that I honestly can call them family. We are all individuals who have professions that make us unique and balanced in life. But when we walk into the "box" we are all athletes who support each other with our goals. I encourage anyone to try out their local CrossFit gym! If you are in our area... I encourage you to try out Stay Strong CrossFit. CrossFit is a community inside and outside of...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about my time at Stay Strong.
A wide variety of fitness levels are accommodated and challenged through a selection of scaling options per workout, and both the coaches and community foster growth in a positive environment. The Stay Strong community is incredibly kind, supportive, and makes coming into the gym worth it, both on the best days and when the idea of working out needs all the help it can get.
That being said, with the spread of workouts targeting a diverse spread of fitness focuses, I find myself looking forward to the challenge most days. Compounding this, the coaches here are skilled, professional, fun, and attentive. While they encourage a hard workout, I’ve also had and seen multiple directives and accommodations to prevent or avoid aggravating injuries.
I highly recommend this gym to both new and experienced athletes who are looking for a CrossFit gym...
