Some services, menus, and amenities are not up to date even on the information they give when you check in. There are signs listing an app to use so you can use your cell phone as a key, which I installed while waiting to check in. They did not know how to use it. The Canyon Star Saloon is described as having a variety of light menu options, but that is no longer the case. There is just one menu but also a children's menu if needed. Nobody had a current copy of the menu except in the menu binder but I was sent back and forth to ask for one and then told "Why were you sent here? We don't have a menu!" The to go breakfasts have a lot of food in them and my kids described it as school lunch type meals. They contain a yogurt, flavored Cheerios, a cold breakfast sandwich that can be microwaved, milk, orange juice, and an orange and an apple and muffin. The pool area smells overwhelmingly of chlorine but my kids loved it. There were other people there eating pizza in the jacuzzi and having water fights and it got a little chaotic and noisy. The TV in my mom's room didn't work but got fixed immediately. The air conditioning in my room sounded like someone was trying to kick down the walls. The window was broken, in that it wouldn't open and pieces were falling off of it. I was offered ear plugs by the front desk but my kids just begged me to not turn on the AC because they couldn't wear the adult sized earplugs. The one bright spot in my stay was the incredible restaurant/bar staff who helped with my kids' dinners two nights in a row. He was friendly and professiona and personable. The kids loved their meals, especially my kid who doesn't like kid food (he got the salmon). All in all, this is a hotel that has location and history going for it, but could really stand some upgrades in facilities, updated information and staff training, and did not feel even close to worth what I paid for it.

I have never had such a responsive, customer focused experience. Lisa Potts would have a job in any company I advise! We booked 3 nights here after Thanksgiving but had to cut our trip short due to an unfortunate change in schedule. It was a short trip into park with no wait. Toured the Orange Line literally by ourselves. Checked into a clean, comfortable room and grabbed a quick bite at the local Mexican restaurant - not bad. (BTW - the Wendy’s across the street for quick lunch was horrible.) It snowed overnight and wanted yo see the park the next morning on the Red Line. It was gorgeous - again with no crowds. Weather forecast overnight made us uneasy catching an early flight from PHX to attend to family, so requested a cancellation for second night at checkout that AM. The Manager on duty was very understanding and compassionate. Trip was booked through Expedia travel agent and although we received refund for third night cancelled a few days prior, we had trouble getting the refund for final night, as agreed by front desk, albeit last minute. Two weeks later, I called as still no debit to my Amex. Called Xanterra with quick, terrific support and given direct number to hotel. Lisa Potts, a new manager, researched, acted, called back, emailed and resolved the issue with Expedia within a few hours. Everyone - from the random guy in the elevator living on premises to the front desk - was genuine and friendly. We will return and I hope I can say thank you in person to a great staff!

I recently stayed at a hotel that I have visited multiple times during my trips to the Grand Canyon, and I have to express my disappointment regarding a significant change I noticed this time. While the staff remains excellent and the rooms are still great, I was dismayed to see a "no gun" sign prominently displayed at the entrance. This policy not only disarms law-abiding citizens like myself but also leaves us vulnerable. In the absence of visible security personnel or metal detectors, I couldn’t help but feel uneasy about the implications of this decision. Many studies and sources indicate that gun-free zones often become targets for criminals, as they can be assured that their victims are unarmed. In fact, a staggering 94% of mass shootings since 1950 have occurred in these so-called "safe spaces" where the law-abiding are left defenseless This hotel, which I previously considered a refuge, now feels like a potential target for those with malicious intentions. It’s truly a shame, as I genuinely enjoyed my stays here. However, I cannot support an establishment that prioritizes disarming its guests over ensuring their safety. Unless this policy changes, I may have to seek alternatives for my future visits to the Grand Canyon. It’s unfortunate, as I would hate to lose a place that has provided me with good experiences in the past.

3rd and final night staying. As I sit here in the lobby, I am nauseated by the fake scent of cinnamon or apple cider or something like a cheap room deodorizer being pumped in from somewhere. I get it, it's mid November and they're trying to create a "lodgy" atmosphere with the Disney-like decor etc. that's fine, but the fake scent is terrible! Room: 116 and filthy. Dust everywhere.  ac/heat unit is absolutely caked in thick dust (I accidentally saw this while the sun was shining in) I pulled up the filter and dropped it right back down. It was completely clogged. Just gross. I did use a cleaning wipe to wipe the headboards down because whatever it was looked like it was splatter or something and my 16yr old saw it right away! Absolutely gross. After 2 nights of being here with essentially no sleep because the beds are like sleeping on a box spring, I got up this morning with a terrible sinus pressure and headache which not surprisingly went away as soon as we left for the day! Now that I'm back here I can feel my sinus pressure coming back. Tonight we will not be running the ac/heat unit at all. Bathroom was not clean. Shower curtain has caked soap at the top on the part that doesn't get swapped out between guests. Dusty shelves. 3 towels so if you need more, ask. There is no grab bar in the tub if that matters to you. Housekeeping never came today so when we returned after dinner we had to ask for clean towels and they sent 3 bath towels so the maintenance guy had to make a second trip with washcloths and hand towels. Not his fault. So we have a pile of wet towels and full trash from yesterday that is still in there tonight.

Chose to not use the hot tub after seeing what the room is like and it looks like it hasn't been scrubbed clean, ever.

We also chose not to eat any food here for reasons above. The good things about this hotel? Location. Coffee in lobby is OK and available Early. Aside from the fake scent, the lobby is spacious and has a lot of seating. We played chess. The rooms have sufficient space that you would expect.

The counter staff at night were pleasant to chat with.

Finishing this review the next morning after leaving.

There is no redemption for this hotel. They charge A LOT of money and they do not take care of their rooms. There is no reason they can't wipe down the rooms and change the shower curtain between guests. Clean the AC units...

To be very honest, unfortunately, the only thing I liked was the car park and the location of the hotel itself as it is the perfect spot to go and enjoy the Grand Canyon on an early morning trip. We enjoyed the flexibility of being able to leave at 9am and yet be able to enter the national park without any queue.

Disliked · I am so disappointed with this hotel and very frustrated I spent 420 dollars for one night on it... To start with, we arrived at the lobby, after 10 hours of driving, coming from Los Angeles, half of the driving done under the snow... We were a little tired and it took the lady at the reception a good 5 minutes to end her conversation with her friend at the desk. She was not particularly polite, I did not catch her name, she wears glasses and works in the afternoon, she could certainly benefit from a customer service training, especially when you are working in a 4 stars hotel (which clearly is debatable in the case of the Grand Hotel). She gave us the cards for our room, we had to ask for some of the details about the hotel as she was not prepared to be helpful. There was no one to help us with our luggage neither so we struggled with our stuff until the end of the corridor. Once we got into the room, I was quite surprised, it just looked cheap, shabby and small. The carpet was absolutely disgusting and the room was not cleaned properly, I found some stuff on the carpet by the bed. I called reception and spoke to the same receptionist whom first put me on hold and never picked up the line again, I had to call back. I requested bathrobe and slippers but I was told sorry we don't do that here. I had to walk with my shoes the whole evening as it was so gross on the floor. The way I was spoken to on the phone was not appropriate and I felt like again that was not the service of a 4 stars hotel. The bathroom was small and the shower head fell off when I tried to take a shower on my feet. We went downstairs to use the pool and spa, there were no changing rooms, no towels, the spa water was yellow, the pool water blurry and cold. I had to get changed hiding from windows where people can see and then I had to wear my cold wet swimsuit all the way back to my room, it was just awful. The corridors were noisy, the rooms around were noisy, I had to sleep...

We stayed here for 2 nights. Here is my honest review about this place in its most detailed form. Just FYI, Paragraphs are long to read.

When I walked into our room, I went inside the bathroom and the first thing that I saw is the toliet paper. It seemed like someone used it because it wasn't folded and it was ripped when I got in. It was half way done. Then I saw a ripped shower curtain but no worries since it was only on the right side hoop that got torn. I did saw one tiny blood stain on the shower curtain, but it was no near as bad. The carpet is dirty and dated. The bed sheets are clean... to an extent. I saw some stray thin hairs on the mattress and some on the pillow cases but overall, I slept comfortably and the bed is very comfortable. I love that there is a counter to make your coffee and tea in with the dishware of ceramic mug and glass ware. There is a coffee filter on top of them and condiments for your coffee and it's plenty. The microwave and fridge works. TV is also good. The desk area is also nice and the fact that there is wireless charging when the lamp turns on makes it even better!

I didn't pay for their breakfast because it's relatively expensive for the whole family, if you want a cheaper option, opt to go to wendies or starbucks as your go to, which is close to the hotel itself. Save money for your vacation. They do offer coffee and tea for free at the lobby when you enter the hotel though, so go help yourself with a free drink in your hands.

Service is great! No problems at all. The lady is very kind and gave us directions when we went, the elevators were out of order so she was telling us where to go as an alternative.

LOCATION IS PERFECT. So many things to do there! The Grand Canyon is only a short drive from the hotel, 35 dollar entry fee for 7 days (a week) isn't bad at all! Keep your receipt if you want to re-enter the park without paying another entrance fee.

That's all. Overall our stay is pleasant and I had a fun time, my jaw dropped so many times as to how beautiful Arizona with its amazing geology on how the Grand Canyon is formed and its...
