Express Mini Mart — Local services in Tusayan

Ive been reading the reviews of this place and theyre what i expected. So i figured id share my own experience and give ya some details. I have actually been the assistant manager at this gas station for almost 7 months now. Im actually quitting though because of the terrible environment of this store. The rest of tusayan has what youd expect for prices at a tourist attraction but this store takes it to a whole other level. They train their employees to price items on what they call a 40% markup. Traditionally a 40% markup is calculated by taking 40% off the original cost and adding that to the original cost however they actually calculate it by dividing the original cost by .4 effectively marking the price up by 400% of the original cost. And they do this on every item in the store. They've taken advantage of tourism far more than anywhere else in town. The other businesses at least have locals discounts to give the locals some relief but express mini mart refuses to offer any discount whether it be for locals, employees, veterans, or seniors. And you would think with their extremely inflated prices that they would offer a decent livable wage or benefits to employees but its far from it. The only benefit they offer is a gas allowance that they hold over your head and use to punish you if you take a sick day. Not only have they taken advantage of the employees and priced out the locals from even shopping here, but they take advantage of even disaster situations. After The recent fire that decimated the north rim, they took it as an opportunity to set up a water display by the front door in case the local water supply got hit by the fire! And when i mentioned the morality of upcharging on a necessity like that in that situation my manager shrugged it off and said it was about making money. And the current manager of the store is the cherry on top of this delightful cake. Shes a class A narcissist with no experience in customer service or in running a gas station, she takes every opportunity to gossip and talk bad about her employees. She even cuts their hours whenever they upset her. And to top it all off she has had an extremely rude attitude with many of the locals and the tourists! Shes verbally berated customers and made insensitive comments about their nationalities. She is definitely not a trustworthy person and has no rational mind to treat people with decency including her employees. This is not a store you want to spend your money at, they'll use every opportunity to bleed you dry and then talk about you behind your back. Im...

Beware of the prices at this place. GS was almost a dollar more a gallon than the stations passed on the way here. Just got a 12 pack of beer that cost $10 more than the general store one block down. I also needed a lime for margaritas. Store didn’t have any. The clerk told me the general store in the park had a much better selection of produce. I stopped at the local store anyway and they had a full selection of produce, including limes. I returned to the store to ask for a refund, beer unopened, and was directed to the receipt which said no refunds on alcohol. Should have gone to the general store in the first place.
