I don't think I've been to a more overpriced, terribly managed restaurant in my life. Service started fine. Then, after 10 minutes it stopped.
You'd think you could get a good burger for 15 bucks, but Canyon Star says otherwise. BURNT to a crisp, and they didn't ask how yoou wanted it cooked. So dry that not even a beer could keep the dryness out of my mouth.
Speaking of beers, my girlfriend and I had three. That's right. Three. After getting my beer, our terrible waitress Emily didn't come back for an hour. ONE. HOUR. And although the busser came once, we never had even a glance in our direction.
When we complained to management, the manager was nice, but obviously didn't want to deal with us. He offered 20 percent off the bill. Three beers and awful food..with discount..50 bucks. Awful conside ring I've had better food and service at an Applebee's.
With my girlfriend and I being part of the service industry at some point in our lives, we know it's a difficult job. Even terrible service with a friendly, courteous waitress warrants a tip. We received neither.
When leaving, we were confronted by the hostess. She asked why we were so angry, not in a helpful way, but in an immediately defensive way.
Then, it happened. EMILY. She walks up to us and asks what was wrong. It was weird, considering we hadn't seen her in an hour. It would be like an estranged parent asking to reconcile with their children after a 30 second conversation.
When we told her of the terrible service, she instantly suffered from amnesia, stating how attentive she had been, and essentially calling us liars. WE took the high road, said adios. AT this point, in front of everyone, Emily yells out "dont come back." Oddly enough, she wasn't immediately fired. I don't know when or where that line is acceptable, but it put the icing on the cake.
Avoid this place like the plague. From terrible prices to awful service, it's best to just go anywhere else.
Just dont...
Read moreThe canyon star steakhouse is located within the Grand Hotel. Let me start by saying the steakhouse is less than grand, it's a mediocre, paltry restaurant with non existent service, a menu that doesn't match what you receive and prices that are overbearing for the plate that arrives. I ordered a blue moon, took around ten minutes for the waitress to figure out that it came from the bar. This was a bad start, one that I should have taken heed to and packed up and gone elsewhere. However, I didn't, and moved on to the food order. I ordered the "Grilled Atlantic Salmon fillet topped with chilled blueberry mango salsa" now it sounds absolutely devine! However, this is not what it is, what I received was fried salmon smothered in butter topped with garlic butter and dill, (not what I ordered and when I questioned the waitress she then proceeded to tell me that the blueberry's and mango have been off the menu for months, seems like this is pertinent information that would have been nice to know up front since the menu is incorrect), anyway, on to the seasonal vegetables, green beens were over cooked, limp and again smothered in garlic and butter, neither of which I enjoy. The mashed potatoes were exquisite and the poky little bread rolls again delicious. So in summation if you enjoy a restaurant where service is non-existent, the food that arrives is not what you ordered but you enjoy mashed potatoes and rolls then this is the place for you! My advice would be to Skip the main course and go straight to ordering rolls and mashed potatoes you won't be disappointed and you will save a lot of time and money! If however, you prefer a restaurant with good service, excellent food and a menu that reflects what you receive then THIS PLACE IS...
Read moreWhere to start about this bad steakhouse. I also wish I didn't have to give it 1 star because it is not worth it.
My husband and I went to Canyon Star Steakhouse looking forward to a Great dinner, especially with the prices. We were so shocked with how bad the food was. I got a ribeye and my husband got a T-bone steak. Both of us had a side salad and I got fries.
The fries and salads were ok. The steaks were terrible!!! My ribeye was so tuff I had trouble cutting it. Also the herbs they put on top of the steak made it taste funny.
My husbands T-bone was soooo thin and then cooked like a potato chip. His second T-bone was a little thicker but still not cooked correct and still tuff.
When you go to a steakhouse you usually get your steak and two sides. Well, it does not work like that at this place. Everything, and I mean everything has a charge to it. Each salad, fries, steak and drinks. I get the drinks and steak but not the rest. I would of been fine with all of this if the steaks were a very good quality and prepared correctly.
I asked for a manager over the steakhouse. A supervisor or something came over. The first thing I noticed about the supervisor was his suit did not fit him properly which does not give a good impression of him or the steakhouse. He did take my husbands T-bone off the bill but that was all.
I hope people read these reviews that are posted. I will NEVER go here again. I will also tell other people NOT to go here. Canyon Star Steakhouse is trying to be a 4 or 5 star restaurant using very very poor quality cuts of meat and cooks that don't know what they are doing.
Please save your money and go somewhere else. You can get a better meal at any fast food...
