My husband and I wanted ice cream from this place after we bought the pass to visit Grand Canyon. There is a restaurant adjacent to where you buy the pass. We wanted some ice cream humble cones. The spot was open, and it did not say it was closed, so I asked the restaurant workers to please sell 2 ice cream cones. And they just looked at each other , in a very stressful way and they told me that they were too busy to sell me the ice cream. They did not have the capacity to handle the sell of ice cream cones. Basically, they did not care about us and that we were customer as well. Our money is as good as those other customers. 2 young men could handle such. I asked if they could provide somebody else for the service. But they still denied us service. It was very disappointing and upsetting to be treated like that at a tourist center. Beautiful building, yet horrible service. If they had a closed sign on the ice cream spot, I would never ask for service. I would never go there again, and certainly I will tell others not to buy food or ice cream from the visitors center. I have worked restaurants, and worked banquets, it was horrible that they couldn't keep up with demand. Absolutely, atrouches service. At least, through this I am able to express my service feelings. Thank you blessings...

Grand Canyon Village is the perfect hub for exploring the South Rim. The views are great, and being able to walk right up to the rim from the lodges, restaurants, and shops makes it super convenient. There’s a great mix of history (the old railway depot, El Tovar Hotel, Hopi House) and practical amenities. It does get crowded, especially mid-day and during peak seasons. I loved being able to stay right inside the park — sunrise and sunset felt magical without the hassle of driving in and out. Parking can be tricky at times, so using the shuttle buses is a smart idea. Overall, it’s the best base if you want comfort, history, and immediate access to the canyon rim. Restaurants are a bit over priced and don't waste your money on the sunset tour. Take the free shuttle buses that will drive you to the exact same places the sunset tour buses take you to. The accommodations were pleasant and comfortable, maid service great though overall the hotels could do with some maintenance. Eg door locks are difficult, light switches are hard...

The Grand Canyon Visitor Center is an absolute must-visit! From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with friendly staff and a wealth of information about the Grand Canyon. The interactive exhibits are both educational and engaging, making it a great stop for visitors of all ages. The IMAX movie is a highlight, offering breathtaking views and a deeper understanding of the canyon’s history and geology. The Explorer’s Cafe is perfect for a quick bite, and the gift shop has a fantastic selection of souvenirs. Overall, the Visitor Center enhances the Grand Canyon experience and is well worth the visit!

Update: came back and was lucky enough to catch the sunrise and snow on the ground! I This place is beautiful regardless of the time of year. Original post: The views are amazing and a great way to spend quality time outside with family. I would recommend blocking out a whole day, 2 if you are coming from far away and want to hike. We had dogs with us so we were limited on what trails we could do but even the kids were impressed! Will be going back without dogs to do trails below the rim and see more areas. Words can't describe how big this is!!
