Please DO NOT go here they will take your money! and absolutely no pictures of so-called " damages" after being told we would get the proof and months have gone by and NOTHING! We went here at the end of September through October 2023 since we had a water leak at our house and have been displaced until it is fixed. The General Manager was horrible and not understanding at all. We called several times and emailed for proof of damages, and we continue to be ignored. I am surprised there hasn't been a replacement. If this hotel/corporation doesn't want to lose money I suggest they correct the way they handle situations and the people running their hotels. This is supposed to be about making the guest comfortable and this was not the case at all. I have worked so many customer service jobs and would never treat a guest/customer this way even if someone was rude to me. The General Manager called during the day at 1 pm and told us we had two hours to go and no consideration for our kids with no place to stay with water ext. No communication about anything before the day of either about what they thought was damaged. My husband and I had to scramble to find another place to stay with our children not sure if we would even be able to find a place with availability. They were supposed to have maids come every two days and they came 1x per week and expected it to be clean. After " I" cleaned it myself to help the maids. Even "I" myself was trying to be considerate of others in this situation and I did not feel the same in return with the lack of communication. I know how hard it is to work for others with little pay and long hours. However, They did not even do a full cleaning when coming into the room. They also said if the room was occupied at the time they would come later in the day at a specific "time" and never did. The General Manager even lied claiming she only tried charging our card after submitting a claim to housing insurance after we left the hotel when we had proof from the bank of the date and time it was in fact before we checked out there were tried transactions before consulting the insurance. This baffles me that no disciplinary action has been taken after escalating the situation to corporate. We also have pictures of the room that have been sent to corporate to escalate the situation and have been told by corporate that it's up to that "particular" location to get our money back I would think it would be up to corporate? Some of the staff at the front desk were okay but one lady was also very rude when I asked to get a coffee "politely" and continued to comment on my kid's attire instead of being polite and asking what I wanted and walked away to ignore me. If you want to have a comfy stay and kind staff go to Residence Inn down the Road or their location in Chesapeake VA, they seem WAY more understanding and polite, especially with people who have children. They have laundry for free and free breakfast every morning. They also have appliances that work like a refrigerator unlike the Hyatt not fixing the problem and letting your food/drinks go bad. The first day when we got there, we wanted to move to a room with a kitchen and a dining table that was more fit for a family of four and was told we would be notified when one came available and never heard anything. It is stressful being a parent and parents do not need the extra stress mentally or financially from people who can't put themselves in others' shoes while trying to keep up with as much as they can and would even surprise me more if they do have children and don't understand. I was planning on giving my kids a good Christmas as to what all parents want for their kids and I became limited in funds because of this. But I realize not all people will have the same compassion and kindness some people carry and understand people "do" in fact struggle. Please SAVE your sanity and money. The Hyatt Town Center in Virginia Beach, VA will rip you off and lie to you! If this doesn't get resolved, we will unfortunately have to escalate...
Read moreAfter reviewing many hotels in the area prior to booking this hotel, I am glad I chose to stay at Hyatt Place at the Virginia Beach Town Center (VBTC) for my recent vacation.
First, Hyatt Place VBTC is minutes away from the freeway and a short drive to the Norfolk Naval Base, Oceanfront, the beach, and in short proximity to retail shops like Target, Kohl’s and REI, and restaurants like Tupelo Honey Cafe, Yard House, the Cheesecake Factory, Shake Shack, Legal Seafoods (hello, Boston!), among many others.
Second, the hotel property sits alone so there aren’t any other business traffic other than people going in and out of the hotel parking lot. I felt safe coming in and out of the hotel, and leaving my rental SUV outside. Parking is free here and there’s plenty of parking. It is also very well-lit - no dark and creepy parking spots.
Third, I enjoyed the service during our week stay. There was free breakfast every morning from 6:30am-9:30am on the weekdays and 7am-10am on the weekends. After those hours, they also have The Placery, where you can purchase small bites and dine without having to leave the hotel. And always available 24/7 is a small drink and snack section where you can make purchases.
Fourth, the staff is very friendly - from the front desk, to the people making breakfast, to housekeeping, etc. Every employee we interacted with was a pleasure. I think there was only one hiccup where we tried to dine at The Placery around 6pm and was told by an employee that there was only 1 fryer to make appetizers and that it would be a 2-hour wait! Poor young man, he was so distressed and we reassured him as we would just dine elsewhere. We ended up just driving down the street to YardHouse - where I spent way more than I was hoping to. Yikes!
Fifth, the hotel was clean. From the exterior, walking into the lobby, up the elevators to our room, and to our hotel room itself - I felt good walking around and taking my showers. It didn’t have that icky feeling that I get at some hotels. The shower door was glass (not a curtain - thank goodness), and the shower head had the right pressure strength. And they had shower gel, shampoo and conditioner available and refilled. These products were attached to the shower, which made it so convenient to shower. The product smelled really good and, somehow, I love how the water in VA felt on my skin and hair - sorry, CA! (Haha) Also, the hotel smelled good every time we walked in - I loved that!
Sixth, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfectly firm and just the right size. I didn’t have to ask for any extras. We stayed in a 2 Queen Bed with Sofa and it was very spacious. It was on the 6th floor (it only goes up 6 floors). There was only one night where I think I heard some kids (or adults) screaming that was a bit disturbing. Other than that, I couldn’t hear anything from neighboring guests.
Seventh, the mini fridge held the bottled waters we purchased for the week so we always had cold drinks ready whenever we needed to hydrate.
Overall, we did pay a pretty penny to stay at Hyatt Place VBTC- but it was all worth the stay. I felt safe, I had great sleep, the hotel was clean (yay for no bed bugs), and we were minutes away from all the places we needed to be.
I would absolutely stay here again if I were to travel to Virginia Beach again, and I feel 100% confident recommending Hyatt Place VBTC for anyone willing to pay for comfort, safety, and great service.

Read moreSuper disappointed in my stay. My boyfriend and I sacrificed our Valentine’s Day and weekend to visit a friend in the area for her birthday. We traveled over 4 hours and had called before hand to ensure that we were able to check in past midnight. The front desk employees throughout the day and night were polite. We had no problem checking in. We did feel uncomfortable leaving our car parked over night, since the area is sketchy. It happened to rain this weekend, so we were thankfully for that. Apparently, they have a history of car robberies. When we checked in he paid $270 for a king high room, but was charged $220 without notice when checking out. It ended up being $507 after taxes. It was supposed to be around $380. Which is still NOT worth the money. This is something that weirdly seems to happen a lot after reading reviews. We left the room in perfect condition, so we are confused. The rooms are very outdated. Our room specifically was not vacuumed, the shower was disgustingly dirty (we had to lay a towel down to make sure we didn’t get athletes foot) the countertops were sticky, the couch was stained, we didn’t have a microwave (we used the microwave in the cafe), the 5th floor did not have an ice machine (so make sure your floor does), and the walls were super thin (unfortunately we stayed beside housekeeping, a family across the hall, and the same family beside us in a different room who consistently kept going back and forth to each other’s rooms, throughout early parts of the morning and random times at night). I have cleaned hotel rooms, homes, & stores so I can tell when a room is dirty. I made sure the bed did not have bed bugs using the hair dryer method. The bed was okay. Hopefully they changed the sheets. The hall was also awfully hot. Not to mention the smell of weed throughout our stay. I did not checkout the fitness center, but the pool seemed small. We also paid $20 for breakfast, but they were only open from @7am-9am. This was supposed to be a nice trip that turned into an expensive inconvenience. So sad! I didn’t have high expectations, for the least part have a decent stay.We have stayed in 4&5 star hotels in Washington DC that have been the same amount. He tried calling, but no is answering the phone. I would not return or recommend. This is our 6th valentines together and I regret wasting our time and money. We normally do something locally back home. We don’t travel often due to working on weekends. When we do decide to take a trip, we have to save up for it. We don’t have the luxury of having an undisclosed amount of money charged to our room. His name is...
