After working all night, I stopped to get a quick breakfast. It was early (before 7am), so there were hardly any customers in the restaurant. There were two black women working the area, a waitress and a manager (??, light skinned older black lady). I’ve visited this restaurant on a few occasions, and the waitress is always nice and provides minimum but satisfactory service. However, she seems to be more attentive to certain customers. The manager (??) is always very intentional about who she caters too (white customers). I always feel snubbed by this lady. I purposely sat next to the window to get some sunshine & to move away from the fans, because I am anemic. I get cold very easily. As I was sitting and enjoying my breakfast and hot tea, a group of white men came in & the mgr told them to sit directly behind me. After they sat, she came over and greeted everyone and to make sure they were ok. One of the men complained about the blind being open because the sun was “blinding” him. The mgr, who was standing behind me proceeded to reach up & let the blinds all the way down. I flinched because of the sudden movement & noise of the blinds & also because she failed to even consider that I was sitting there. She had complete disregard for me as a customer as all of her attention & focus was on the group of white customers. After she let the blind down, she apologized and said, “I should’ve asked you first.” At that point, the damage was done. ALL customers should be acknowledged EQUALLY; not the ones with white skin. I was the only black person in the restaurant at the time. And I was completely ignored the entire time I was there. The waitress didn’t even bother to ask if I needed more hot water for my tea. This is what happens when reverse discrimination comes into play. On the way out, I stood at the register to pay for close to 5 minutes while the manager took another white customer’s order & then walked back to the kitchen. She completely ignored me. It’s almost like she did this on purpose. When she finally came back to take my payment, she had the audacity to ask me if my meal was ok & gave me a fake “have a nice day” as I left. I snubbed her as she had snubbed me the entire time I was there. I will not be going back to Village Inn again. Encourage your workers to show the same respect for the black dollar as they do for the white dollar. Self hate cost owners money more often than...
Read moreTo the owner. You asked what happened to cause my harsh review. Well for starters,I came in with my son for lunch and the place was relatively empty yet we still had to wait 20 minutes to get our drink order. After another 20 minutes or so we finally got the waitress to take our food order. The entire time the wait staff was rolling silverware and socializing and ignoring us. After waiting another 45 minutes I had to interrupt their socializing to inquire about our food. The young lady seemed annoyed and said nothing and walked to the back to get our food. Everything was cold and inedible. I informed the waitress that we would not be eating the food and she sent over the manager who kept asking if I wanted anything to be remade. I explained that I had been there for nearly 2 hours and did not have the time to wait or the confidence that they would do any better. His solution was to discount my order. Even though we ate nothing he insisted that he could only offer a discount. So rather than cause a commotion I had to pay for food that I did not eat. He even had the audacity to make a snide remark when I refused to tip the waitress for the food I did not eat. Usually in an instance like this I would tip because I am aware that the wait staff does not do the cooking but as I explained to him the waitress who was sitting at a table talking with coworkers 10 feet away did nothing to warrant being tipped. She ignored us and was annoyed anytime I asked a question. Yet the manager still felt the need to attempt to shame me into paying even more money for the food and services I did not receive. I feel like they stole my money. The overall attitude of every employee I encountered was that I was being difficult or picky. It is not being picky when you order over easy eggs that are rubber and everything on both of our plates were cold ti the touch. The staff seemed more interested in hanging out and joking around than actually working. So that is what went wrong. Everything. As to filling out your form, no thank you. I will not be returning to your establishment and I will certainly be telling anyone who will listen why they should not go to your restaurant. Being hungry is a better option. I will continue to dine at other village inn locations, just not yours. My advice. Fire everyone starting with...
Read moreGreat service. Great atmosphere, but really stingy with the food. I had gotten the chicken tenders with gravy the first time I went there and I had four chicken tenders with the two egg omelette, sausages and I forgot the third one I had, but it was so delicious and I had to come back again with my family. The second time I only got two tenders. They were really small. I got two egg omelette and my strawberry crepe I was definitely disappointed. I asked the server "hey is it only supposed to be two? Because the last time I came it was four tenders" and she said normally there's only two tenders in that it was probably was a flute. I had two small chicken tenders the size of my pointer finger and for $12 the best part of the meal I only get two so I had to add another three tenders and pay for them as well. When she brought them out I had a few more then 3 and she said that it's because we have smaller portions so they added more up there and those were just as worse just half the size and not to say that my strawberry crepe was so hard I couldn't even cut through with a fork and it was cold. She got it remade for me but at that point I was like not excited anymore. I also bought two pies and they were really room temperature. I had the key lime which was broken in half and did not taste right because it was so warm. I put in the refrigerator and it just didn't make it any better. I also had the cherry which was warm as well and I tried to put it in the refrigerator that made it a little better, but you know it's a learning experience. I thought this was going to be my favorite place I can bring my family too ever other day. I'm just saying I probably will not be back there again. But I can say the best part is all of The nice customers that were just smiling in so nice and friendly The servers were great too. I just wish the food was just as good the first time. Oh yeah I pay for two dishes plus the $3 for the extra tenders, one kid's dish and two pies which came up to $70 and then I added the $5 for a tip. Of course because she still was sweet, But yeah it was fun while it lasted. Thank you for the first time, I had an awesome time with a nice customers they are so lovely in the...
