Bahama Breeze — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

My family and I have visited Bahama Breeze multiple times at various locations. We first discovered them a few years ago while visiting Orlando, FL. We had a wonderful experience! Anytime we travel, we look for a Bahama Breeze location due to not having one near our home on the Eastern Shore of MD. We visited one in New Jersey and the one in Woodbridge, VA twice. We traveled 2.5 hours yesterday for my husband's birthday to have dinner at this location in VirginiaBeach, VA. There was no host/hostess at the front when we first entered, so it took a few minutes before we were greeted and seated.

We already knew what we wanted, so we placed our drink and appetizer order with the waitress almost immediately upon her coming to our table. Our waitress returned shortly after with our 2 younger children's Apple juice boxes. We then placed our entree orders for our party of 6. Needless to say, we never received our crab dip appetizer and waited over an hour to receive our drinks. Our waitress apologized and let us know that she was going to notify someone about the situation. We ended up receiving our entrees, but still no drinks or appetizer. I requested to speak to a manager who informed me she was aware of the situation and that the bartender was backed up, and now it was shift change. I let her know that we also had not received our appetizer and, at this point, no longer wanted it, so she refunded us for it.

I was so disappointed about the service received for my husband's birthday upon traveling as far as we did. Not even as much as a slight discount on our bill for our troubles. I'm not usually one to complain and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. This was clearly unacceptable. My family and I have chosen not to visit this particular location again...

As a side note, we really wanted to have an early lunch on Saturday, day after Valentine's, at PF Changs but the parking is stupid there so on a fast pivot we chose BB.

Having never been to this location before we weren't sure what to expect seating wise. As we entered we were hit with a loud bar scene. I asked the hostess for a table and guess where she wants to put us? In the 1st table behind the barstools. Basically only an aisle buffer between you and those at the bar having a great time. Now, I have no issue with folks having a great time but I don't want their great time to be mine as well. Once I spoke my displeasure at her selection, she took us into the dining area to the first table on the right. I didn't mind it til I discovered our server was also the bartender. Because of this, we had a bit of a wait between each service.

The crab dip though did arrive fast and hot. I wish the same could have been said about my sides. I ordered the Pina Colada Shrimp with mash potatoes and fries and hubby ordered the Jerk Chicken Pasta. I never could get him to tell me what was wrong about his lunch as he pretty much threw half of it away once we left the restaurant. I can tell you what was wrong with mine: while the Shrimp were hot & delectable, the mashers & fries were both lukewarm, if that. I ate a few of the Shrimp with hubby consuming 1/4 of his pasta before both of us were full. I left most my of fries but took a few to give to our dogs.

All in all, this is a one and done spot for us. I did tell bestie that we could try drinks and desserts once she returns, but based on last week's lunch, hubby and I would not go back for food service.

Too loud, too slow and...

My first time at Bahamas Breeze at VA Beach location; and service was pretty bad. I was with a group, so I may give it another try. But one person ,while she received their appetizers, they didn’t get their food at all after waiting for two hours, even after everyone else received their food. I asked for my dessert to go and got it before everyone else received their main meals. The waitress kept forgetting the orders. Everyone besides the one person eventually got all their food, sporadically, but that one person. Oh! I’ll take that back …One other person didn’t get one thing but they didn’t want to add to the chaos so they just didn’t mention it & let it go. Then it took forever to get our receipts. Then when we finally receive the receipts, everyone’s items ordered were on each other receipts after we specifically asked for individual receipts…and then the waitress came over 3 times before she finally got it right. The waitress was forgetful, not focused at all, she supposedly wrote down the orders but I’m not too convinced she did, but she was nice although flustered. The manager did give that person’s appetizers free. I think it was all too overwhelming for the waitress, so that why I said I will try it another time.
