I've passed this Yard House location several times over the years, but had never actually made my way in here. This Yard House is located at the corner of Commerce St. and Independence Blvd. That area generally has a good amount of traffic. There is a parking garage nearby and can go through The Westin Hotel to get out, or park closer to the elevator near Commerce St.
My first visit here was on January 2, 2018. The place was recommended by my brother and his wife to come here during their happy hour for appetizers. They also gave us a gift card to the place, so that helped further the reason to check the place out. Once you come inside, one thing you'll notice right away is that the place is pretty dark, with not a lot of lighting as you might see in other restaurants. We were immediately greeted when we came in and were seated immediately as well.
Within a minute or so of being seated, our server Brandi was at the table. She was great to work with and quick as well. The first order of business was the drink order. I had gotten a sweet tea this time and my mom got a ginger ale. The drinks came back quickly and then asked if we were ready. Since my brother said to come for the appetizers at happy hour, that's exactly what we did. We ordered the Onion Ring Tower, Spinach Cheese Dip, Queso Dip, and two orders of the Blue Crab Cakes. At the time of ordering, I notified our server about my allergy to mushrooms. A few minutes later, the manager Chris came to the table to check on us and let me know that they checked all the items we ordered had no mushrooms in it and they would avoid cross-contamination, which they did well with.
About 10 minutes or so after ordering, the appetizers came out to the table. The first thing I tried was the Onion Ring Tower. Those were great, as they weren't hard to chew and were cooked just right. The next thing I tried was the Spinach Cheese Dip. This appetizer was amazing. It tasted great with just spinach and cheese (first time I've had one in a while that didn't have artichokes). The next thing I ventured to were the Blue Crab Cakes. They were also amazing. They were cooked perfectly and they didn't contain fillers that you could find at other places. The last thing we had gotten that I tried was the Queso. The Queso was great as well. They gave you a soft bread and chips to use with it. After that, I went back and forth enjoying each of the appetizers.
As we got full and started slowing down, the manager came back to our table to check on how everything was. Everything was actually very good and said we could ask for him to check on us when we come back again. Shortly after, our server came back and asked me which dessert I wanted from my birthday. I chose the Crème Brûlée. The dessert was very good and they even had happy birthday on the plate (my birthday was in December, but the coupon was good until January 2nd). The Crème Brûlée also included bananas, which was a nice touch.
Overall, this was a great experience and will definitely come back again. I look forward to that next visit. However, I might just stick to water for a drink since the non-alcoholic drink prices are a bit higher than other places. If you're looking for a nice place to have lunch, happy hour, or dinner in the Town Center area, this place is definitely worth...
Read moreThe servers attitude were very very condescending, ill and downright seemingly racist towards me. Because of my casual attire and hair. I walked in and there were five Servers who were standing there, I said goodnight, but they all ignored me while chatting amongst themselves for about 4-5 minutes, I said again, goodnight, and one finally said with a very pompous attitude , “may I help you?”. I said I know what I want and she said, here’s a menu. I said again, I know what I want. She then took my order, which was take out, (cost 37$). I handed her two 20$ bills and she asked me if I want my change. I said why would you ask that off the bat instead of letting me willingly give my tip. Which I had fully intended to do of course. A customer behind, overheard and said “why would you ask the man if he wants his change?” and laughed. I gave my name for the pick up and was told 20 minutes. She then left. I then sat in the waiting area. About 15-20 min later from my arrival, I eyed some bags that came out. (About 6) They called all the other names but left that one bag on the wheel cart. I looked at them look at the tag and went about their business. About 30 min later, I approached the counter and asked again for my order. That server looked at the tag and went away. Never saw her again. Servers came back out to the front and buzzed about the register area. Then 45 minutes later, a server was on the phone by the register with two other servers. I approached one and asked again for my order. There was a server on the phone who rolled her eyes and pointed with her finger out to the other server whom I just asked and rolled her eyes Yup. It was that SAME bag that was just sitting there that came out with other orders awhile back. She gave it to me and said “here!” and walked off. It was really awkward then and It really felt all these white servers were very racist and condescending towards me and I felt humiliated, cause, like I said, I wasn’t dressed up all pretty and I wasn’t like the majority of customers and servers. White. Will not be supporting this establishment again due to the treatment by its employees. Hire more diverse or just put up a sign. ,...
Read moreI went to Yard House I used to be a regular now. I’ll probably never go back. I walked in the hostess was very nice and asked for a booth. She said us in a very nice booth by the window and there. I waited for 30 minutes with my baby for someone to come serve us I eventually just use the ZO to order drinks and appetizers And no one came for about an hour and a half to take our order so I ended up ordering to go off the app which took about 40 minutes to be ready which is expected to go and then that time three wait walked past my table 1 bought me my Ziosk appetizers. Another bought me a drink from the bar , eventually when to go was ready, I walked up to the hostess stand and told her no one has come to help us my baby is screaming crying in the restaurant now while I’m sitting here waiting the table behind me is seated with a waitresses friend and she’s telling her about how she got into it with another waitress and honestly I just knew that that was supposed to be my server finally when I went up to Go get the food the hostess was shocked that no one had come to check on me the entire time I was there, and when I took the food back to the table, she alerted the waitress that I was her and the waitress assumed someone had taken me because I had gotten my drink from the bar however this is the same waitress that had bought me one of my appetizers and I don’t know how Yard House works but normally when I’m serving and someone steals a table in my section I like to know who but also she sat out there long enough, telling the story of how she got into it with another server to know that no one had come and checked on me at all the manager came over. He was apologetic and gave me $13 off my meal. However, I don’t feel like that was an adequate remedy for the situation. He even walked around and was checking on tables however he did not come to my table once the entire time I was waiting I couldn’t order kids meal food off the Zouk so my daughter was having a fit. I’m also six months pregnant. My pregnancy craving was not letting me leave till I got the Nashville hot is hands-down the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my...
