So, I’m usually not one to be bothered by hotels. I’ve stayed in cheap and expensive and really they are both just a space to sleep. I must say though pulling up to this one I didn’t have a great feeling, but it was only for a night. Parking lot and area are pretty run down looking. Staff was sitting out front smoking. Could smell pot before even getting into the lobby and then was overwhelmed by the smell once inside. Waited for someone to check us in. Didn’t have the king size room I reserved and was told the price for a queen is the same but now looking online the queen is cheaper than a queen, not by a lot but I still paid for something I didn’t get. Room was better than I was expecting and was clean. Beds are super hard. Wouldn’t stay here again unless I had to. Didn’t eat the free breakfast but seemed to consist of cold cereal. No one was in the office when we checked out at 8 am so just slipped the keys between the sliding windows. Air conditioner kept randomly turning off - couldn’t figure out what caused it and didn’t seem to be the same intervals - was on until about 2 am and then seemed to go off about every hour or so. And no, it wasn’t turning off because it had reached temp, it was physically off - no lights and I would have to turn it back on. Oh, one last thing - there were two, small, flat pillows on the bed - it was almost like having no pillow.

The hotel lived up to it's 2 star rating. The bed was comfortable and the TV was nice. But the loose floor tiles, missing smoke detector, and restroom door being broken brought it down. The continental breakfast was minimal, went to local bakery.

I am not giving this any stars, I blocked rooms for our wedding end of last year and our wedding was this past weekend. I found out the following day of my wedding that my guests that reserved their rooms never got their them. Due to a manager being fired they had to clean the system and start over???? I had guests that have been drinking and elderly that do not like to drive at night, I provided shuttle buses so my guests had a safe ride to their hotel but they never had their hotel. And some of the excuses were my guests lived too close to get a room!? are you kidding me!??! I even talked to this hotel a week or two before hand making sure we still had our rooms how many were left if any and I was told yes people had rooms ready to go, I am very displeased with this hotel and how they handled my guests and would not recommend this place to anyone. There were other ways they could of handled firing a manager that DOES NOT interfere with guests that already reserved rooms. I was not the only wedding party that blocked rooms I heard another wedding a guest with his elderly mother slept in the lobby because they didn't get their room they reserved. I am so disgusted and appalled by this whole ordeal.

Oh and to make it better I called to complain and this manager who cant speak English well and I know you are reading this, he just lied through his teeth to me about my guests, I called my guests to see their side of the story and they told me it wasn't just them but guests from Arizona and all over saying they had reservations and had confirmed 2 weeks ago and they no longer have them!!! I ALSO was charged for a room that I never stayed in or SAID I was staying in they said they called me asking if I was staying, I checked my phone log NO PHONE CALLS FROM THEM!! he hung up on me and it wont be the last he hears from me that's for sure, im going to corporate and better business bureau, he better hope he has a job in the...

UPDATE:

After over a month of leaving voicemails and emails, finally got it resolved. The charge was refunded. Main issue was that i had reserved 6, and thought i had canceled the 6th, but turned out i was already within the 48 hour cancellation policy (my fault for not seeing that earlier) this appeared to trigger an auto charge with the billing company for the rest of the 5 rooms some how, not sure how, but it did not show up in the hotel charges. The manger had to call the billing company to find it and reverse, then i in turn paid for the extra room.

While it took a long time to resolve, it did get resolved.

ORIGINAL: The room itself was what you expect for the price, no frills. The Breakfast was a stretch to call it that, cereal and toast, but, it was something i guess.

Biggest complaint comes in the fraudulent charge. I held 5 rooms for 1 night on my card, when our group got there, we charged each room to a separate card, including mine. So, I ended up with 2 charges on my card, one for all 5 rooms and one for just a single room. My 4 traveling mates also go charged for a single room, so, I ended up getting charged for 5 rooms too many.

I have left MULTIPLE voicemails and emails and received only one email response with the receipt for the rooms showing them as paid by 5 separate credit cards. I responded with a screen shot of my account being charged twice, and have not heard back. I am currently in conversation with my bank to stop payment on it.

Mistakes happen in all parts of life, it is how you correct them that makes the difference, and this shows how little Waconia Inn cares about correcting them. I shouldn't have to get the bank involved and leave voicemails and emails (there should be someone available to answer the front desk phone at least during business hours), just to correct THEIR mistake.

There is another hotel in town, it may be more a few dollars more, but book, you...
