When one comes to Wall, SD they come to see Wall Drug. This hotel is almost within walking distance, except it was raining. It's 7 blocks away. BW Plains is a very large hotel., It's not brand new, but still quite nice. There is lots of free parking, but not always by your room. There are two floors, all rooms have outside entrances, and there is not an elevator. If this is a problem for you, ask for a lower level room. The hostess was accommodating when there was no available room on the lower level and had her maintenance man come and assist us with getting our bags up the outside stairs. We were even provided with a second luggage rack upon request. There are also suite rooms and rooms for the physically challenged. The beds were comfortable, and the room was properly stocked with enough towels and was clean and quiet enough. Safety was not an issue. There is always lots of hot and soft water here, as the water is heated by an underground spring. It tastes pleasant and ice is available if you wish for cold water. Best Western's trademark breakfast is served in the adjoining pool building. It is always good. The room is rather small for the number of people it needed to accommodate. The reception area is small and does not have a public restroom. The staff was nice, but they almost seemed overwhelmed.

Pet friendly! The rooms were decent for the price. We liked that there was a fridge in the room. Don't expect the best of other guests though. When we arrived to our room the guests besides ours were sitting at their door in a fold up chair blocking the sidewalk smoking with their door open and the TV on full volume. We left for dinner and came back to a full parking lot. The parking immediately in front of our room though was empty but was blocked by buckets. We parked down the other side of the property, I don't mind walking but was gobsmacked at the selfishness of the space reserve. A short time after those guests arrived removing their buckets. We went by the pool where there were kids running around screaming. Kids will be kids, but sometimes you want peace while on vacation. The motel serves breakfast with several different options to choose. There's a dining area you can sit and eat. Unfortunately there was a kid on one side standing with his mom grabbing food while he coughed everywhere without covering his mouth. I grabbed food from the opposite side of the kitchen. The gentleman who was bringing out the food was very friendly. We GREATLY Appreciate rooms available being pet friendly. Great location I'm proximity to the bad lands.

The Best Western Plains Motel is our jump off point for the Black Hills and Badlands. We've stayed here and in Rapid City but prefer here even though it's an hour from the action in the Black Hills. So if we're going just for a long weekend we opt for the Plains Motel. It also happens to be perfect for visits to the Badland National Park. We hadn't been here in a few years and were happy to see it was still such a nice place. Check in was easy and friendly. The rooms still have these TINY VERY LOW toilets but make up for it with extra electrical outlets. It is an easy walk to Wall Drug and pretty much everything else in Wall. The pools, one indoors and one outdoors, were closed at our visit but I know from past experience have been good. They offer a breakfast but with Wall Drug a few blocks away the only reason to eat is if you are leaving too early to go to Wall Drug...and it is free. I really enjoy this motel. It's updated but still has that classic golden age road trip motel feel.

Wall is a classic tourist town, with limited hotel and restaurant options and everything overpriced. But it's so charming and a great story of entrepreneur success and our family loves stopping to get the free ice water and take pictures with all the photo ops at Wall Drug. ||We've never stayed overnight and might not again...normally we love Best Westerns but this one was so pricey and seemed badly in need of updating. We also struggled with the very strong taste of softeners in the water everywhere on property (including breakfast juice machine). It was sickly sweet and tasted horrible.||The rooms were small and cramped. Ours had two queen beds and a small foldout sofa (could only sleep one elementary-age child - an adult would be uncomfortable) and a tiny bathroom with shower and toilet. Sink was in the bedroom area. There was a microwave and oversized mini-fridge which was nice and worked great. Smart TV saved us when there was a freak hailstorm/thunderstorm outside. ||The other highlight was the pool! There is an outdoor and indoor pool, and a jacuzzi inside too. Very nicely maintained pool area, plenty of clean towels and seating. Before the thunderstorm, we enjoyed the outside pool in the sunshine. ||Breakfast was very good with a pancake machine that made fresh pancakes, eggs with cubed ham, sausages, donuts, yogurts, oatmeal. Appreciated the almond milk (lactose-intolerant). The breakfast host was friendly and attentive and quick to attend to any needs. Small seating area in the pool lobby but more seating outside or near the pool. ||The pool was fantastic but the rooms and water would have us hesitate to return. The service was friendly and nice and if you needed a place to stay in Wall and don't get stuck inside the room for too long, this...

This property was just ok, and the most expensive of our trip – in the off-season no less. The room was fairly large, but there was only one easy chair in a double room. The lighting was decent – enough lights so we could read. There was adequate space for toiletries in the bathroom, but not enough towel bars/hooks. Water pressure was ok, but the temperature kept alternating between hot and cold water – it wasn’t consistent. We had specifically requested not to be on the ground floor, but that’s what we got. So, we were awakened very early every morning by the people above us walking around – it sounded like a herd of elephants. Staff was a mixed bag. Some of the staff was not particularly friendly or helpful, just doing a job, while others were very friendly and helpful. It’s in a good location near the entrance to Badlands National Park. Breakfast was very bare bones and they didn’t seem to restock it; when items were gone, that was it, and we never saw anyone cleaning the breakfast room up. The room was too hot – we had to set the thermostat to 60˚ to get it cool enough for comfortable sleep. And the A/C blew right on the bed, which was awful. There was no good place to sit outside in the nice weather. We finally sat on some hard benches in the dog walking area; they could do better than that. There were no USB ports in the room. We got notes from housekeeping every day – clearly a bid for tips. We might or might not return here if we came back...
