I usually give places 5 stars, with the exception of this place. And let me tell you why: Story Time We had stopped in Wall, SD to do some shopping & do the "tourist" sightseeing, (we live in SD, East River), we were driving back from Rapid City after visiting relatives. Normally, we drive right by, but I wanted to stop & shop. ANYWAYS, after shopping for a an hour or so, we got hungry n decided to eat at this place. Walked in, it wasn't REAL busy, & were seated right away. BUT, the waitress had put us WAAAYYY in the back, at the table that was right next to the back hallway, which everyone had thought where the bathrooms were located(they weren't). When we were seated, there was one table(3adults) & one booth(mom, dad, & 2kids) that had already been there before us. After our waitress took our pop & water & food order, another couple was seated in our section, in the corner, kitty-corner from us. Couple minutes later, 3 couples were seated in our section as our drinks came, & the waitress took the order from the other couple. NOW, the waitress was taking the drink order from the 3 couple (3c) party(struggling, I might add). The waitress had brought out HALF of the family booths food, & then my husbands food next. The waitress had gotten the familys order wrong, so the other half had to wait. A few minutes AFTER my husbands country-fried steak & fries was delivered(by our waitress), my salad was served(by someone else), as our waitress had gotten the 3c's drink order wrong, AND was not allowed to serve the drinks as she was underage, was taking their drink order again. The other half of the families order was served, the drinks were served, & we were almost done eating, expecting the check to arrive soon. We got done eating, and still no check. We waited for another 3-5mins for our waitress & the check, nothing. My husband had to go to the bar & ask another waitress to get our check & ring us up. Only once our waitress come to our table & that was to bring my husbands food. She didn't come back to ask us how our food was or ask if we needed refills for our drinks. Luckily, I had gotten a bottle of water when we were shopping, or else I wouldn't have had anything else to drink during the last part of my meal, & waiting for the check(which didn't come). She was too busy "catering" to the 3couples instead of the 2tables & the other booth in her section, which I think that, because they had ordered alcohol drinks, & as far as I can tell, none of the other tables did either, she was probably thinking that she'd get a BIG tip from them, & that she basically forfeited our tip. And Idk if any of the other tables did or not. But I DO know that, if we ever stop back at Wall again, we are NOT going back to this place again. Sorry that this review is so long, but I had to tell about our...
Read moreWe stayed in Wall for 4 nights while on a photography road trip. We ate every morning and every evening at the Badlands Saloon and Grille . Our 1st night we had a very nice server from Columbia the food was not that good and it was way overpriced for salad out of a bag and a grilled cheese for $21 . The second night I ordered the personal pan pizza which was very good and it was a plus that we had the same server. We came back for breakfast the following morning and the coffee was good and fresh . Our server lacked much people skills and looked like he may have woke on the wrong side of the bed. Our breakfast came out the pancakes were good , the biscuits and gravy were cold and mediocre. No sugar free jelly or syrup for the diabetic person. Day 4 we arrived for breakfast and met the so called owner.. who identified himself as the owner with his husband .. we had no problem putting our empty stainless steel coffee mug away to accommodate his comments about the health department etc.. but when they had filled this travel to go cup on all 4 days. We were told his staff were nothing more than non compliant children, it left little to be desired. I was a bit taken back how he spoke of his staff in such a negative and disrespectful way. Here is my point .. you have 5 active generations in the workforce irregardless of age “Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.” — John Crosby. “A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself, and helps bring it out of you.” — Bob Proctor… If anything you are Aligning your employees with your company values. Might want to value them more its a proven fact that Happy, engaged, and motivated employees are more likely to perform well, positively impacting productivity, customer satisfaction, and, ultimately, your bottom line. You may be an owner but certainly could use some training in your leadership skills … you talking down about them was so unnecessary… You want to run a successful business it starts from the top (You) … you really need to apologize to the staff who heard you make that statement … treat your employees like they make a difference...
Read moreIf I could give less than one star I would. We waited almost ten minutes to be greeted by our server just to get drinks. Another ten minutes before we got to order food. I ordered the Badlands burger without jalapeños, my husband ordered the whiskey steak tips, our daughters ordered chicken strips with fries. My husband's whiskey tips were beyond overcooked they were so tuff you could not chew the meat pieces, they should be so tender you can cut them with a fork, funny enough the fries were kind of warm. On to my burger, I took one bite and it was raw and still cold in the middle, not cooked through, my fries were completely cold like they had been sitting out for a long time. The kid chicken tenders were fine, no complaints there. The adult chicken finger were fine as well however they came out of the kitchen almost five minutes after the fest of the tables food. We could not get drink refills, our server was sitting at the back bar eating her lunch and could have cared less about waiting on us. We waited over thirty minutes for our food for it to come out of the kitchen like that hot mess. When we told the server that we just wanted the whiskey tips and burger taken off the bill she replied I will have the manager come speak with you. Not a problem.....waited and waited no manager ever showed up. They server came and brought the check. My husband's meal was $17 and my burger was $16. They did not even comp the entire amount for the items they took $24.50 off of the bill. This place is terrible and unfortunately they are located in a tourist trap town so people will unknowingly go in and eat there not realizing the service is terrible and so is their food! The reason we did not wait for another order was because we had tickets to an activity that we had to get back to Custer for and did not have another 30 plus minutes to wait for food. By the way here is a picture of my burger that I literally took one...
