This is my first time ever leaving a Google review, and it's unfortunate it has to be somewhere I was excited to stop at. We decided to stop on our way back from Mt. Rushmore to Sioux Falls. Even though I couldn't find an official menu anywhere online, I saw photos from another review, and was excited. I also saw some really great reviews, but was quickly disappointed after arriving. We(my friend and I) arrived and after being pointed to a table, sat for almost 10 minutes before we were handed menus. Unfortunately, one of the things I was excited to try was crossed off with a black marker, so I decided to try the special - Steak tips with choice of potato - and my friend decided on the Grilled Chicken sandwich. Another full 10 minutes passed before we decided if our orders weren't taken in 5 minutes we were leaving. Finally a couple minutes later we were asked, 'have you been helped?' and had both our drink and food orders taken. We ordered a 6 piece garlic bread as an appetizer, and only received 4 of them 15 minutes after we ordered them. I didn't bother saying anything about that, as I knew it would probably be another 15 minutes to get the other 2. They were good, but then it was another 15 minutes before our food was brought to us. The table behind us had arrived after us and received their order before us - in fact, we ended up giving them our menus after we decided what we wanted, as we didn't want them waiting to get one as long as we had. The food wasn't as good as I was hoping, but everybody has different tastes so I won't judge on that. There were two points when two different employees walked around with food, unsure of where it was going. One even stated, after being called by a table, "I must have looked really confused", and then said she was the manager a minute later. While not the biggest deal, the place was extremely crowded, with little room to walk, and even smaller room to move your chair around. This unfortunately makes for an uncomfortable dining experience. Our waitress was very kind and attentative after she finally noticed us needing service, but the wait at the beginning was not a good first impression. I was however glad that she was our waitress, as the other one did not seem nearly as attentative - we even handed her our tip in cash and told her it's for her and her only(in case they split tips). Overall, we had a poor experience and would not return again if ever in the area. As someone who has worked in the food and serving industry for years, I understand some nights can be tough, but tonight was extremely...

My husband and I ate an early dinner at Red Rock on a Saturday in June 2023 while vacationing in South Dakota. One of the better rated restaurants in Wall so we thought we would give it a try. It ended up being our worst dining experience on our entire trip and a meal we very much so regretted. There were several things that made this an unenjoyable experience.

We arrived a little after 4 thinking they wouldn't be very busy. We were wrong, but we were told we could be seated in the bar. Not a problem seeing as it was just my husband and me. It did take us a while to decide what to order which was completely on us. The girl working the bar also waited on us and took our order. My husband ordered the country fried steak, and I ordered the beef tips. Well, the bar got busier and we waited and we waited. . .and we waited. . .and then . . . we waited some more. At this point, we had waited at least 45 minutes (maybe closer to an hour) and a table that ordered after us got their food (after going to check on theirs) so my husband decided to ask about ours. A few minutes later, the food did come out, but it was clear it had been sitting a while. My beef tips were cold. His gravy had that congealed look and texture to it. We had waited so long we didn't dare ask to send our food back. So not only did we wait a long time, but our food was luke-warm at best.

Their dinner menu specified that you could order a baked potato as a side after 4. I tried but our waitress apologized and said that wasn't going to be possible. That's ok, I picked something else. Well, a table that had arrived and ordered after us but got their food around the same time as us had a baked potato as a side. Not sure what happened there.

The salad bar was included with our entrees. I went up and the salad was almost empty. I got a little and told my husband he may want to wait as it was just about picked over. So he waited and went up a bit later and there was nothing. Waited and went up again, and still nothing. He mentioned this to our poor waitress but it never got refilled. She did take off a percentage from his meal though which was a kind gesture.

All of this made for a frustrating and bad experience. Our waitress was kind but our overall experience was not one we wish to...

After reading reviews for the restaurants in Wall, we decided on Red Rock. The waitress who seated us was friendly and seated us right away. Our party all ordered burgers and 45 minutes later they arrived. I'm not sure if the kitchen was short staffed, but it would have been nice if the waitress had checked in with us since we waited so long for our food.

My husband and I both got sweet potato fries which were good. They needed salt, but that's easy enough to add ourselves. Unfortunately both of our burgers were so well done the outside was extremely chewy and tough, not to mention black. On my Dome Burger the cheese was melted into a patty of sorts, which looked good, but added to the chewiness. We were also surprised our burgers weren't hot since we waited so long for them. We chose not to send them back or ask for new ones because we'd waited so long for the first ones and our children were getting restless.

The kids' burgers also were very well done, but no complaints from them. My daughter got regular french fries which she ate with gusto and our son's mac and cheese had good flavor, but looked like it had been sitting on his plate for a long time as it had a gluey consistency. He didn't care for it because it had a bit of a kick to it, but I think most adults wouldn't mind that. I think it would be quite good if it were freshly made.

An acknowledgement of our wait time would have been nice and gone a long way, especially since we came in before the big dinner rush. Also, while the waitress was friendly we had to call her over for drinks refills a couple times. It would look a little more professional if the waitresses weren't wearing earbuds while they waited on us, too. I won't say don't go here, but be aware of the potential wait time and specify how you want your...

My husband and I stopped here for lunch on a Monday. What a refreshing change from the usual road- side fare! A combination of veteran efficiency and service with authenticity of Dakotas hospitality and warmth, serving food that is outta this world. Drew took exceptional care of our needs and was super capable and affable. We had the best soup ( potato and beef) that I think I have ever had - and were offered a free second helping!! Go figure!! My husband had honey garlic chicken wings as well and they were truly epic!! Saw other veterans there and I am convinced that this place will achieve icon status in Wall. Having waited tables in college to get through I recognize exceptional service when I see it. Having eaten pretty mediocre food in our travels I appreciate truly exceptional food preparation when I am lucky enough to find it. I think this place is a hidden gem and would love to return for the dinner menu if I get a chance. We were served quickly within minutes as were others who came after we did - no wait at all! So thank you for the great food, authentic warmth , ample portions, , concerted attention to our needs. And thank you for your service.

We've eaten here in the past. This restaurant is veteran-owned and has a wall of pictures and information about the veteran. We ordered burgers. I don't usually like waffle fries and was unaware the sweet potato fries I ordered would be waffle fries, but they were good! I asked for a sample of gold BBQ sauce as I hadn't heard of it or eaten it before. I liked it, too. My husband and I enjoyed our meals, but I took half of mine in a Styrofoam tray to eat later. Our senior dog, a toy poodle, watched as my husband put my food in the back. We stopped for gas and left him on his pillow on the console in our Armada. When we got back in, I asked where the dog was. My husband jerked around and said, "In the back seat with your food." I found him lying on shredded Styrofoam and most of the meat and cheese from my burger. He was eating my sweet potato fries as fast as he could. He and I realized at the same time, he'd missed most of the meat. We both grabbed for it and caught it. I gave up and fed him the burger. He'd already eaten the bun, lettuce, and tomato. So, yeah, the food is dog-approved, too.
