We love staying at the Sunshine Inn for its value, cleanliness, and friendly staff! We enjoy simple motels/hotels that offer clean rooms and don't charge an arm and a leg for it, as we don't want to spend our entire vacation budget on lodging. John and Deanna are kind, courteous, and very knowledgable about the area, providing great recommendations of things to do, places to eat, etc. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's nothing fancy, but you will be well cared for and treated right.||I always bring my own toiletries but my room had trial-sized bottles of organic toiletries, which I really appreciate, as I am striving to reduce my toxic load. I travel with my own hair dryer, but they have them available to borrow; just ask. The beds do not have bedspreads currently but I slept comfortably with the bedding provided and did not get cold. I actually preferred not having a comforter/bedspread as I always wonder how frequently motels/hotels clean them, and I know blankets are regularly washed. As several reviewers mentioned, the beds have flat sheets which admittedly is not my preference as they don't stay in place as well, however this did not create any issues for me. The bottom sheet got looser after a few nights but did not come out of place and did not expose the mattress, so it was just a minor inconvenience. Coffee, juice, and snacks are provided for breakfast; while I don't eat the types of foods offered, I brought my own protein bars, fruit, and made instant oatmeal with the hot water provided, then visited the restaurants in town for a protein-dense breakfast. ||I mention these things to help with expectations. It truly is a simple motel, but the value and service provided make it worth it. Last year we spent at least $60 more per night at a hotel in Rapid City and breakfast wasn't even included! I would MUCH rather spend less of my vacation budget on lodging to be able to spend more on experiences, local restaurants, souvenirs, etc. Sunshine Inn is definitely our go-to place when we are...
Read moreMy kids and I started coming up for an annual trip from Kansas City to the Black Hills in 2016 and we would leave at a reasonable time and make it to Mitchell for our 1st night...Then we changed it to leave early and make it to Wall for our first night...So glad we did...Wall is such a quaint western town and a better place to spend a night than Mitchell...We used to stay at a different place but once when I was coming up they were full so I thought I would give this place a try...I liked the location on Main Street and asked if I could get one of the rooms over looking Main Street...They gave me room 26 and I was hooked...Every year I call in advance and request that room and so far they have always been able to make it happen...We look forward every year when we leave to pull off I-90 and into the parking lot...We get our keys and are off to spend one night of the year in a place we really like...John and DeAnna have always provided great service from check in to ice for the coolers to that much needed coffee in the morning...They always remember us when we get there and that does not happen much these days...We just got from our trip and are already looking forward to next year...If you are travelling in the area and need a place to stay I would highly recommend the...
Read moreThe best night's sleep!!!! This motel was very clean and quiet. I told the very kind owner, John, that everything was wonderful. The bed was comfy, bathroom clean, floor clean and unstained, plenty of towels, "soft" water from shower, etc. I went on and on to him because I'm very picky about where I sleep. Chain and independently-owned motels/hotels vary in quality of stay, of course, but for me, the Sunshine Inn was one of those unicorns...lol! I came with my church group and everyone was pleased overall. There was one minor issue with a toilet in someone's room but it wasn't reported til morning. John said he would have taken care of it immediately if he had known and I believe him (I feel certain that toilet will be fixed before the next guest arrives). He said keeping his inn clean and maintained was very important--that was quite obvious. I wish EVERY hotel/motel made the effort to maintain their...
