We recently stayed at The Wesley with another couple and it served as our home base for what was primarily a wine-tasting weekend. I have been to Walla Walla numerous times and have stayed at just about every interesting property within a 5 miles radius of downtown. There are many beautiful properties in that area, but The Wesley is outstandingly unique.
The space itself is utterly charming. The building must be somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 years old, but the owner or a recent owner performed a fantastic remodel to modernize it and add a modern flair that is unique to this property. It has all the beauty of an older home but that beauty has been fused with a modern, playful design scheme that makes it impossible not to smile upon entry. The shared spaces on site are embarrassingly generous - multiple fire pits, hot tubs, games, etc. plus a party space downstairs that could host over a dozen revelers easily, But even with all those amenities, when it came time to retreat to our apartment we were met with peace and a good night's sleep.
The location of The Wesley is perfect. It is less than a five minute walk to downtown Walla Walla, and one could easily spend a weekend there without needing a car. It's far enough away from the college that you're not kept up by late parties, but close enough to visit in a few moments. Walla Walla can be very hot or very cold at times so proximity to attractions is valuable, and The Wesley provides a great balance in this area.
Even while the property and location is amazing, the real standout was the on-site staff. We were greeted by Keilah upon check-in and she seemed to be in the building almost constantly. We were always greeted with a smile and asked what we needed to enhance our stay (though we never needed anything) and it was obvious that she was the kind of person who was passionate about hosting us rather than someone to whom property management was merely a job. Her warmth, and the helpfulness of her young daughter Brinley, made us all feel immediately at home at The Wesley.
One of the features of Walla Walla that keeps me coming back is the sheer friendliness of the city and the people who live there. The quality of the space and the incredible welcome from Keilah and Brinley create a level of comfort that is hard to replicate. We very much look forward to seeing our new friends at The...
Read moreThis was a really nice place to stay. All though there were a couple of things I didn't like about the place. I didn't like the parking very much. It's hard to find the driveway from the main road and there wasn't a lot of parking. The cars were parked kinda slanted so getting out was a little hard and you had to drive backwards to get out and on to the street cause you don't have room to turn around and they had cones up in the back so that was the only way to get out. With that street being fairly busy, it was scary. And the other thing I didn't like was that the pool closed at 10pm We stayed there the night of 4th of July so by the time we got done watching fireworks and back to our room it was to late to sit in the jacuzzi and relax before going to bed. For the price you pay to stay here, the pool should definitely be open later at least midnight! This is what stopped other friends from staying here. What I did like about this place was that the rooms were very nice, had lots of extra soap, shampoo, and conditioner, and they even had makeup wipes. It was clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable. It had plates, silverware, pots, and pans, so if you wanted to do some cooking, you could cause it had everything you need. This place had a home feel to it. We had a room that was like an apartment. We had a full-size kitchen 2 bedroom, a full bathroom with a nice walk-in shower, no bathtub, but that wasn't a big deal for us. The kitchen had all updated nice appliances. And the view from the balcony was really nice. It also had a room upstairs from the living room with 2 couches, which was pretty neat. I would love to stay here again next time we come to walla walla cause we come often but the pool not being open very late might make us choose a different place. It will depend on how long we will be there and what we're coming there for. I would give this place a 7 out of 10. It's great if you don't plan on going swimming for long and you don't mind...
