Yamas is definitely a must try if you are visiting walla Walla, or living here. Every time I eat here I am always impressed with how delicious the food is, even if I get the same thing. It’s simple and delicious, and I always come. I’m a big fan of the lamb and beef Gyro, whether it be the wrap, the rice bowl, or the larger combo.
In terms of their drinks, they typically have a few different wines on hand as well as a few different beers. They have a bar with other liquor and Such, but I wouldn’t call it a full bar compared to other places. But generally speaking the drinks are tasty and I have always enjoyed them. I personally like when there’s a smaller selection because it makes it easier to choose.
My only downside would be that sometimes service can be pretty slow, whether it be someone coming back to your table to get another drink order or if you want to just pay. Honestly, the most problematic part has been trying to pay. To me it’s still unclear whether or not I’m supposed to go to the register or if someone will be coming to me to take my card. It seems to be the former most of the time, and occasionally They will take my card from the table. When they are busy it can be almost impossible for somebody to come by and bring you your check. Additionally, i’ve noticed that if you ordered alcoholic drinks with your meal while you are with other people, they won’t just let you pay, they need to get your waiter to ensure what you ordered is correct and the amount you’re paying is correct. I find this to be a bit annoying because I just want to pay and leave, and it gets hectic at the register. Overall I won’t fault them for the service aspect because generally it’s good and everyone is knowledgeable and nice. But just FYI.
I find myself coming here almost once a...
Read moreMy family decided to try this location for an experiment together and see what they had to offer. Upon arriving it was filled with other patrons, families and college students, which was a good start. We waited a few minutes, not long, for a table and chose to sit outdoors on the patio area. Seating was a little close quarters, but it made it intimate and cozy.
Our server was polite and did a good job with answering questions offering what was available. There were a few items that were forgotten, but it wasn’t anything major to complain or become upset over.
When the appetizers - dolmades, paidakia, and spanakopita - arrived to our table, the playing looked good and we dove right in. Then midway through the appetizers we ordered our entrees - lamb + beef gyro, chicken souvlaki, falafel. Everything was flavorful.
Pros: • Good ambience especially outdoors in beautiful weather • Great time to go is early evening when the air is cool • Family-friendly and people are light hearted spending time with family and loved ones; was able to see a few pups along the way ☺️
Cons: • The lamb did not sit well in flavor. Not sure how this meat was prepared, however marinated in seasonings overnight and using a clay style pot/oven slow cooked may be a suggestion. This is due to experience with international travel in North Africa. • Experience could be enjoyed better “tapa style” eating versus full plates (this was our family’s consensus from our experience) • Servings for fries were very small in portion when ordered another side order; it was almost on par with fries that came with other orders (if requested)
Overall the experience was good due to the ambience. The food was neutral, yet being with family made all...
Read moreWe came here tonight on a whim. We got seated and our orders taken really quickly, but it went downhill from there. Hubs got the beef and lamb rice bowl. He said the meat was really tender, rice was tasty, tomatoes were flavorless and gross, and too many onions. Let me just say the guy who took our order we never saw again after he brought our drinks. We were never offered drink refills or asked if our food was good until a random waitress lady came out and asked if we needed a box…Ok, back to the food. I ordered the chicken souvlaki wrap. The meat was well seasoned but overcoooked and in huge, non wrap friendly chunks. It was delicious in flavor and incredibly tough. On the menu it said there would be fries with the wrap. I expected them on the side and while they may have been ok, they were gross and mushy in the wrap. The pita bread was really tough and burned on the bottom. The tomatoes in my wrap were nasty and just a pile of sauce in it and big onion chunks. The seasoning on the chicken was great. Too bad it was like jerky. At the end of the meal the lady who wasn’t our original waiter took my husbands credit card and kept it for in excess of ten minutes. This made us uncomfortable. Somehow we ended up leaving our card there as well because she didn’t bring it back with the bill and my husband didn’t notice it I guess. Maybe this place is better when it isn’t the weekend, but I doubt we will be back to find out. We have better Greek options...
