OYO Hotel Columbia SC I-20/I-26 — Hotel in West Columbia

#1 NEVER EVER stay here! You'd be better off buying a blanket and sleeping in your car! I promise you would feel much more safe and sanitary. This property is a complete and utter joke/Mess. Unless you're on major drugs and completely out of it, you will feel very uncomfortable. The stench of Weed and other Drugs are just flowing thru the air. Its tons of suspicious traffic and blatant drug activity all night long. The property has ROACHES that have infested. The bed linen is disgusting. I am more than sure there are "homeless" people that can find a cleaner spot on the street than this hotel. #2 NEVER use you Credit/Debit Card here. You will not receive your deposit back. It's been a month and mine has allegedly been refunded and I have yet to receive it. As the other person said, " you will have to call the Hotel and wait for some random person to let you inside the Rooms." Which this lady was actually nice. However, the 1st room was covered in roaches as soon as the lights came on and she said..."you don't want this one! Its bugs everywhere". I should've left then but it was late. Room #2 when she opened the door it was a Man in the Bed! So clearly this place is unorganized. Finally we got to a vacant room. I may have stayed 1 hour just long enpough to make reservations elsewhere and I left. I only stayed in the room that long because I was afraid to sit in my car in the parking lot while i search for a room. I was checking to see if a Zero Star rating was available. This place is called "The Trap" by locals, which means heavy drug and gang activity. Like I said, sleep in your Car or hell just sleep on the Street. I promise you its better than this. Purely Disgusting Property. You can tell the Owners are some people maybe in another Country that are never here and they just sit back and receive the residual income. They can less about the people over here and whether they are safe in my opinion. I can tell the Workers are severely underpaid. Seriously, who wants a random Man from down the street to come and let them in their hotel room that you are not provided a key for...Oh and NO DEADBOLTS!! I just can't! I can go on...

I made this reservation through Travelocity at 3am the morning of the 20th of September 2018...I arrived at the property later than expected because the website said it was 84 miles away and turns out it was 220 miles away...so I got there at about 5:45 am so tired I could hardly tell you my name...I had been driving now for 15 hours...I pulled up front where there was a well dressed, very nice colored man being helped through a locked door, and a tiny hole to slide your info through...we spoke awhile during his wait...when James the Indian guy got to me , just a average white guy he unlocked the door and invited me into the indoor lounge...I should have left then, because I just witnessed a horrible case of racism right in front of my eyes...and I am very sorry I didn’t speak up... I forget the guys name but I send you my apologies!!! I proceeded to check in only because I couldn’t go a step more...I opened the room door and immediately the smell of must and smoke and past wet dog hit me in the face... I grabbed my pillow and dog blanket from the car and she and I laid on top of everything and was dead asleep in minutes... I also need to note that there was only one working light in the far back corner of the room, luckily I only had to urinate!!! I woke up sharply at 11:30 when my alarm went off... I had asked for a late check out of 12 vs 11...all he would offer even though I had checked in less than 6 hours before...okay so as soon as I woke I jumped up and drew the very nasty curtains back and the first thing I see are cockroaches running everywhere from the light... I immediately got my dog and things in the car...didn’t get to even wash my face , because as I looked more closely I was physically sickened......I will attach some pics and let them finish my story...and no , even showing the owner the pics he refused to refund even a portion of the full what turned out to be $135.51....and the only amount I approved was $90.51... I got charged $20 for the extra hour from 11 to 12 pm and then $15 more for a pet clean up fee!!! So here...

UPDATE: it has been 2 WEEKS since I checked out and they HAVE NOT REFUNDED my deposit!! SCAM ALERT!!

I was passing by Columbia and needed to stop by for one night so I picked this hotel for the price. I booked online through hotels.com for a king bed, no smoking room. It was pretty hard to find because the name is not actually OYO. They just bought Regency Inn and renovating but no sign on the road to tell you that. When I finally found it, I got told they only have doubles. I thought it was just one night so I was fine with it. I have been to many hotels so when I got to the room, I immediately check the bed and the restroom to make sure they’re clean. The beds seem fine but I found a live roach in the bathtub. The room also has a smoking smell lingering in the air. I was annoyed but at this point it was late and I was tired so I thought it’s alright for one night. I came home and 2 days later and I got about 15 insect bites all over my body (I suspect it’s bed bugs). Now I have to wash everything I brought with me and treat these bites.
