Iāve been a member since 1/14/16. Iāve never had any real issues and for the most part loved the gym as well as the associates. But for some reason seems lately that the manager has been targeting me for the most petty reasons. One instance I had a curl bar on its side and he made it a point to go out of his way to come over to me and tell me not to do this because it could danger other members and I tried to explain the only reason I did stand it up was because the floor is uneven and it rolls when I lay it down, which I assumed would be a greater danger to members to have a metal bar that rolls in the middle of the floor. But I let it go. So today 10/6/2020. I came with a shirt Iāve been wearing since 2016. The manager stopped me and asked do I have another shirt to wear? It caught me off guard because Iāve been wearing this shirt since 2016. And the reason I know I have been wearing this shirt is because I have photo evidence of me wearing it at the previous location before they moved next door. I said yes and proceeded to ask why the shirt was a problem 4 years later? He said they donāt allow shirts that display your open chest. So I went outside and put on another shirt and upon retry I proceeded to ask why this is an issue now? The TRAINER(not the same person who brought up this concern) kindly explained to me that they donāt allow shirts that allow nipples to be shown. Now this is not the explanation he gave, he just said they donāt allow exposed chest. Now this shirt does not display my nipples. Today I had a backpack on and it made my shirt display my chest upon walking in. So I agreed with the information I was given but I also addressed my concerns about this hopefully not being targeted individual issue. So I continued to work out and noticed a gym member with a similar shirt. I asked him did the manager say anything to him about his shirt, he said not at all. So I then saw another member who had even less of a shirt. I proceeded to ask him the same question and even showed him the shirt I was going to wear. He laughed in disbelief and claimed that he wears shirts with less cover than that. I also talked to an associate, who claimed they didnāt understand the issue either, because I always wear that shirt and they always see me in the shirt. While writing this I asked another member who I spotted in the parking lot who has his nipples FULLY exposed, has he ever wore that shirt before? He answered yes. I asked him has anyone ever asked him to wear another shirt, he answered no. Me now realizing that this must be some type of targeting exercise, I have no other choice but to cancel my membership. I refuse to give my money to a company that picks and chooses the rules as they see fit or should I say as management sees fit. Iāve worn this shirt since 2016 and today itās a problem. Someone suggested that I wear it when heās not there or just change once I get into the locker room, but I donāt pay a monthly/annual fee to be hiding from a desk dictator. Itās sad that this is what ends our relationship/business because all the other associates are really great but I refuse to let someone pick and choose the rules, they want me to follow and not mandate them to anyone else. My problem is not the rule itself(even though my shirt didnāt qualify for per explanation I was given) my problem is itās not equally being distributed throughout the gym. They say we ALL must wear mask while walking around the gym. And so, I wear my mask. But you canāt pick me out and say what Iām wearing is inappropriate and at least three others that day had similar attire and even stated it was never even mentioned it to them at all. This is supposed to a judgment free-zone but why am the only who was addressed for my attire? If what I had on, was in fact inappropriate, why wasnāt it inappropriate in 2016,2017,2018,2019 and now with three months left in 2020 itās now a problem. I recommended this gym to so many people throughout these almost five years but now I know I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited this Location on July 13, 2018, at approximately 1:00 p.m. As I scanned my membership card I was met by a rude, tall, light complexion African American young man. He began by cracking jokes on me concerning my attire, no hello, no welcome to planet fitness, just rude jokes concerning my attire. I am a 55 year old retired law enforcement officer who is in excellent shape, I almost went old school on the young man, but decided to workout and never return to this particular planet fitness. The physical condition of the facility is excellent and very well maintained, but the childish behavior of staff is not appreciated, one day that young man will say the wrong thing to the wrong person. Judgement free zone, really?
In your response to my review you stated that I Should come in to review your policy and procedures, that makes no sense, what is it in your policies and procedures, is there something in your policies and procedures that state it's ok for your staff to belittle members? I'm not sure you realize it, but you have a problem on your hands, and I'm not it, I don't' need to correct anything by coming in to speak with staff, I already have, which is to no longer return to this particular gym. I have a choice, go to another gym, your in the business to make a profit, your one of the many businesses trading on the stock market looking to grow. I have no horse in this race, because there are millions of horses for me to to ride, but you are running a business, which is only one horse. Coming from someone who has supervised young folks I am sure realize who your problem children are, make a difference, sometimes it's a pain but well worth...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo of course, I joined the Gym the 1st of the year. Jan 3, 2018 to be exact. Just like so many do the first of the year. I choose planet fitness because of the price. It is an excellent price however you get what you pay for. I choose the Dutch Square location Samantha Mueller (Club Manager) was the individual to process my membership, talk about benefits, and show me around their facility. When I started going I noticed a lot of their equipment was always "temporary out of order". But my biggest issue that I had with them was the WiFi. I'm not your die hard core gym member. I am just a beginner and I need my music to motivate me while I am working out. I went 3 days in a row and their WiFi was down or stop working. When I brought this to the Club Manager's attention Samantha Mueller, she explained that they are having issues because the Dutch Square site will be closing and moving to Lexington Location. Which she NEVER disclosed this to me when I signed up for my membership. If she had explained that BEFORE I signed up and they deducted my account and took my money I would have just waited until the new location open so I wouldn't be paying for something I wasn't going to use. She was rude and not willing to rectify the situation and explained that she could not do anything about it. I explained to her that you ADVERTISE Free WiFi as a part of your packages and if she was not willing to offer a solution or rectify the problem that I would cancel she said OK and was willing to cancel my account with no hesitation. Not a way to run a business, resolves issues, or even pretend to care about customers. False...
