I’ve been to this place many times and usually enjoy the ambiance, but last night was a huge disappointment. I stopped by with my date around 10 pm for cocktails and dessert. We started in the lounge, but since it wasn’t very comfortable, one of the servers kindly suggested we check out the restaurant side for a more romantic setup. There were at least 7–8 empty tables, and no one stopped us from walking over, so we sat down.
That’s when things went downhill. Another server asked us to check in, which was totally fine, but when I went to the front, the hostess approached me with an extremely unprofessional and rude attitude. The very first thing out of her mouth was, “Are you having full dinner?” I explained that we had already eaten and just wanted dessert and cocktails. She flatly said, “Sorry, you have to order a main course.” Trying to be accommodating, I said I didn’t mind ordering something, but then she doubled down, saying it had to be two entrées, full dinner only.
I completely understand policies if the restaurant is packed and we didn’t have a reservation, but this was late at night with plenty of empty tables. What really bothered me wasn’t the rule—it was the dismissive, almost hostile way she delivered it. In hospitality, attitude matters, and hers ruined the entire vibe.
We ended up going back to the lounge, ordered something small, but honestly, I just paid the check and left because the experience was soured. I’ve overlooked slow or uneven service here in the past because I liked the atmosphere, but after last night, I’ll think twice before...
Read moreI stayed at The Sunset Tower Hotel for 5 days and enjoyed dinner as well as breakfast daily at Tower Bar. I loved all of my meals, the service was fantastic, thank you Angel for being an absolute doll, and the atmosphere was stunning. Tower Bar stays packed and if you plan to dine here, I highly suggest that you make reservations. I had reservations for 1 and it took me 30 minutes to be seated and that was after I had asked for a manager (thanks Jen!). Besides that little snafu, I did not encounter any more issues. For dinner I did not want an entire bread basket and was very grateful when I was brought a pretzel bread. While the menu is not large, they do have quite a few mouthwatering options, but in the end, I chose the scallops that were cooked to perfection. For breakfast, I fell in love with the smoked salmon benedict, smoked salmon bagel spread, chicken apple sausage, huevos rancheros and the fruit and yogurt parfait. I was excited for the brussel sprout and quinoa bowl, but it was rather bland and not a favorite. While I did not eat lunch, I did eye a few plates and the dishes looked just as yummy as the dinner and...
Read moreMy spouse was celebrating his birthday . It was the height of the pandemic 😷, so we had to sit outside which initially was disappointing. That changed when they seated us at a gorgeous table by the pool and the jazz quartet with that million dollar view of the city . Our server was excellent 👌🏻, and the classic dishes were delicious 😋. We had the Deviled Eggs and the Wedge Salad to start , and the Fried Chicken and Rack of Lamb for our mains . Cocktails were perfectly made and served , we went with the servers suggestion and shared the Ice Cream Sundae . Is the food adventurous ? No , but it is classic American cuisine in a very swanky and expensive place that makes you feel like a million bucks , because it’s well worth every penny . It really has become our favorite go to restaurant for a special evening because it’s a class act , with lovely staff members who know how to treat their guests to a superlative experience . If you want to dress down and desire trendy , molecular cuisine in a loud , Hollywood club kid environment, I don’t think that this is your kind of place , it’s sort of...
