We stopped in for a room on Saturday morning and you just had a cancellation. So room. 213 was available. Ocean front with a private balcony I was very excited as my daughter and I were down just for the night. The room was $180.00 (I thought it was a bit high before memorial weekend but it was last minute). The lobby was very clean and the woman was super friendly!
Once in the room the view was definitely the only good thing about that unit. We didn’t stay in the room long as we changed and headed to the beach for a few hours. It wasn’t until we returned from the beach and began getting ready for dinner that we noticed the true state of this unit. There were metal rusty flakes on the beds. It appeared that the ceiling was flaking off and had been painted over (but still in need of repairs). The ceiling is peeling where the wall meets it. The towel bar was broken in the bathroom. The bathroom ceiling tiles are stained and look like they need to be replaced. I have photos as well. We didn’t sleep on the beds, we slept on the couch. The kitchen counter was two different counter tops, the decor was off.
I checked out at or around 9am Sunday. I explained everything that I found and even left the metal rusty flake with her. She was so nice and apologetic, however she knew the state of that room after speaking with her she said “I know” we’ve tried telling that owner. I do not recommend this place at all. If she knew the state of that room she should have disclosed that to me. When were the beds last changed ? There were metal flakes on them! In hindsight I should have went down to the office and asked for money off or a refund and left. I’ll never stay...
Read moreWe booked the Cara Mara through Expedia and it says it's a motel. It is Not. It is condominiums so every one is different. It was nonrefundable but said we wouldn't be charged until our stay, we were charged immediately. For check in we were texted a code for a lock box for our room key. The key wasn't there. We had to call and he did come right over. You get one key or at least we did. Our room was a loving room when you came in and then the bedroom and kitchenette were the same room. There were dishes but I have never stayed anywhere that didn't provide coffee or dish soda when there is a kitchen. We also didn't have a full roll of toilet paper and there was no spare so we went to shop rite and got these things as we weren't sure what we would be getting. There is housekeeping though. There is never anyone in the office so you won't be stopping in to ask for recommendations or extra towels or how much laundry is. The beds were old and there was a fitted sheet and light blanket, no top sheet. With all this being said it's a fine place not stay. It's just little things that make you say "really" like there's no tissues or salt and pepper. Little things. It's a good location and clean. The beach is nearby and the pool is nice. The pool hours are 10am - 8pm which are pretty short hours but since it's a condo that might be normal. Trying to rate this is hard because like I said it's fine just missing stuff that you get used to. Also leaving you are supposed to put your key back in the lockbox but that didn't work so there is a key box to put the key in if you have problems. We did that and you are told to text when you leave. We did but got...
Read moreRead moreI found a room with 2 beds on the Air bnb site for this motel for June 20-21st. I got all the way to the payment part and the payment actually processed but then I received a message that the host "Steve" declined my reservation, no reason given. I have never had this happen to me with any other host and have good reviews on all my stays. I just checked multiple sites and this room is still available for the same days I tried to book it. My profile has my picture, and I am a person of color. I can't prove anything because Air bnb does not report why hosts decline but kind of makes you wonder....discrimination much? Edit A representative from this hotel responded to my review with some incorrect info. #1 My payment method was a valid credit card that I've used on the Air Bnb site before. Payment was not the reason I was declined. #2 I have a valid state ID. Always have, as I mentioned I have booked stays on the site before with no problem. #2 If your room had a 2 day restriction you should have stated it on the website! Just like the other hotels and stays do. There is a function to block the person from selecting the room if at least a 2 day stay is not selected. Finally, if you want people to check with the hotel directly and not use a 3rd party service to book rooms then don't advertise on the 3rd party service. Simple as that. Update the site with accurate information and you won't have people assuming the worse when you make a declination for...
