My boyfriend had never had a proper Jersey Shore vacation, and I spent countless weeks researching hotels in both Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. We had specific wants, such as an oceanfront room with private balcony, enough distance between us and the boardwalk that we didn't hear anything, but could still travel there by foot, and of course, we hoped for a wonderful experience. We were not disappointed!! Overall, Bristol Plaza was a wonderful choice and probably the best hotel I have had the pleasure to stay at in Wildwood. The rooms were sparkling clean, our room was magnificent, and above all.....the staff!!! Whether it be the women greeting you at the front desk, the maids or even the guy cleaning the pool, everyone went above and beyond for their guests. Every day we were greeted with warm smiles and friendliness, always asking if we needed anything, and if we said yes, they dropped whatever they were doing to accommodate us. We did not ask for much, as they made sure we had all we needed in general. I believe we only asked for some extra toilet paper, towels and an extra blanket and pillow for the pullout couch. I can really only think of a few minor things that did not live up to the rest. Our main one is teh pullout sleeper sofa bed. If you are reading this and are planning to use the pullout couch to sleep on........save yourself and your body and bring an air mattress. The mattress on the couch was only 3 inches thick and on top of a platform. Needless to say that 3" does nothing and we woke up every morning in immense pain. My boyfriend and I took the sleeper sofa so our family could have the two beds in the bedroom for the time they were with us. It was absolutely awful. I ended up having to use the cushions from the couch to put on top of the bed to create some comfort. But on the plus side, I got to open my eyes to an ocean view every morning without having to leave my bed! Second, the parking spaces are extremely narrow, making it very difficult to get into and out of your car, especially when packing and unpacking the car. I understand the property has limited space and they want to squeeze in as much parking as possible, but damn! I'm a small girl, only about 130lbs, and found it to be quite the tight squeeze for me to get out of the car. Third, on our next stay, I would like to see updated pots and pans. The ones they had were chipping and the coating was coming off of them. We made the best of what we had, but small updates like that go such a long way and are always appreciated. Overall, the good far outweighed the bad, and we are already planning our trip for next year. There is a beautiful pool, and contrary to what I keep reading in these comments, I saw many open chairs around the pool at all times of the day. The pool and sundeck were always clean and family friendly, and they provided Magic Shows, and our favorite.....a steel drum band every Tuesday and Thursday. The tropical music added a beautiful touch to an already wonderful atmosphere. This is definitely a family place! Every guest we encountered was beyond sweet and lovely, just like the staff. Bristol Plaza truly makes you feel like family, and will always put you first. Thank you to everyone there for making our vacation magical and memorable!! We will most...
Read moreThere was only one handicap accessible friendly room which was already booked. The whole place isn’t handicap friendly. Why is there no ramp to go downstairs incase of an emergency? Elevators aren’t permitted for fires yet there’s only stairs. And there is only one handicap accessible room which is upstairs, what? The ramp leading up to the hotel rooms on the lower level was very steep and very difficult to push my father up. Also we didn’t get a handicap room for him because there’s only one….so getting him in and out of the room with his wheelchair with that big step was very difficult and frustrating. The rooms got redone but now you can feel all the sand being tracked into the rooms on the floor. The bathroom is extremely small. I mean very very small! The water barely got warm either. The shampoo and soap wasn’t the greatest so be sure to bring your own. The door also wouldn’t close right to the bathroom in our room so we had to keep leaving it open or slamming it closed. The air conditioning was hard to get to adjust to a comfortable temperature… its also pretty loud too. The hotel is miles away from the boardwalk. Getting in and out of the car in that parking lot is a joke. Looks like all hotels are like that which makes no sense. We were so close together couldn’t even get my dad or my daughter in and out of the car properly. The pull out mattress was ungodly uncomfortable so I didn’t get any sleep while staying. The television volume is hard to adjust too couldn’t find a happy medium with it. The doors are very old and were hard to open and keep closed to the hotel room.
The pool is very nice, I give them that and the cute deck upstairs to eat and hang out on is okay. The tropical music they play is really nice too and fun. Other than that I wouldn’t consider staying again after this because we really need a place that is accommodating to our needs especially someone who is handicap and this hotel just doesn’t have it. Also I don’t why there is only one handicap room and none the less it’s on the upper level with no ramp incase for some reason a fire or other emergency did happen. Oh well. My parents enjoyed seeing their old friends and being close to the beach. We also enjoyed the deck and pool a ton, but we all agreed we like to stay somewhere else next time since we were all not that happy with our stay...
Read moreThis motel looks nice & clean in photos however the cleaning staff do not clean well. Floors are continuously dirty. They don't vacuum or mop everyday. Nor do they come into room everyday regardless of the tag being put on door. The sheets on bed feel like sand is still on there. We asked for extra pillows and they refused. The male manager is VERY RUDE!! We were there during outage that lasted all day & my husband is on a breathing machine so we went to office to make sure we would receive cdt for the night b4 we left and he said yes of course we will give u credit. So we figured no prob we will just use credit again regardless of our view on cleaning staff just to not be out if a day of what we paid. We received a cdt for only 71.00 today (room was over 200) and I called and that manager began to yell at me stating he didn't say how much credit. Which he knows as well as I know that we meant full credit for the day. I never in my life dealt with such an A-hole and I can't believe this is who they hire for manager. He said we had full day of room and pool. We were at the beach when outage happened when we came back we heard it could be hours to days for outage. I had to start packing so we didn't have to pack in the dark. So we did not get to enjoy the hotel accommodations. He said I was able to shower. However he failed to mention there was no hot water. So they lost another possible week vacation for giving us another 150 back. No customer service skills at all! We come to wildwood every year and usually stay at the compass motel for the past 7 years however we tried this motel out do to bigger dining table and extra sofa. We have never dealt with such rude behavior at the compass and will 100% go back to where they treat customers with respect...
