Andre and Amy are the stars of the show here. The way they have treated me have turned what would have just been a good hotel experience into an AMAZING hotel experience. EVERY time I walk in and one of them is at the desk, they address me BY NAME, genuinely seem to care about how I am doing and my stay at the hotel. With my work I have stayed in MANY hotels. As far as the people that I have dealt with here, this has been one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had.
As far as the hotel itself, for a mid range hotel this definitely gets the job done. It is not a brand new property however it has been updated and most importantly it is C L E A N!!!! I have stayed in higher end hotels before that are not as clean as this one and more importantly don't match the level of personal service here. The rates here are VERY reasonable for what you get and if you are coming to Williamsburg to see the tourist attractions here, it is VERY close to the historic parts of town. Also as a fitness buff, I am very happy with the quality of the equipment they have. The treadmill reaches up to 10 MPH which allows me to exercise at an all out intensity and the elliptical is a Natulis brand which is one of the top in that industry. I also like the exercise bike as it is more of a professional model that allows riding both sitting and standing. There is also an assortment of weights however I have not started strength training yet. Also the pool here is nice. The only thing I would like to see changed is having the fitness center 24 hours as it closes at 11PM.
The breakfast. For a mid range hotel is far above average. I patronize another sleep inn on a very regular basis with my job (princeton WV) and they don't have near the breakfast offerings this hotel does. This hotel (williamsburg) has a hot breakfast with delicious hot sausage as well as a wide assortment of bread and cereals so I am able to get full here in the morning without having to eat out after eating the hotel breakfast. This saves me time and money.
The hotel has ample parking and several decent restaurants near by so if you want to walk to get lunch or dinner you can. There also is a nice OTIS elevator here so if you have issues walking stairs, you can get an upper level room here without having to worry.
PROS: STAFF!! Andre and Amy and everyone else I have dealt with here has been AWESOME -CLEAN! the rooms are SPOTLESS Location Convenient to the major attractions of Williamsburg and walking distance to restaurants QUIET! the building is well insulated and you don't hear outside noice Comfortable Beds. As with every sleep inn I have stayed in, I am very happy with the quality of the bedding better breakfast than other sleep inns I have stayed in VERY nice exercise room Microwave and refrigerator in room. If you extended stay here you can store and prepare food Did I say they have a VERY nice Exercise room?
Cons: There are only 2 things I can think of
the exercise room is not 24 hours. The internet can be a little slow at times however, that is more due to the ISP offering in the area and not so much the hotels fault.
Other than that, I can not think of anything this hotel could do better. This could be either a pro or a con depending on your preference but bathtubs don't seem to be available in non ADA rooms however this seems to be the trend with ALL modern hotels only offering a stand up shower, not just specific to this property. As far as Sleep Inn goes, this is probably the best one I have ever stayed at.
IN CONCLUSION, I HIGHLY recommend this hotel as this is definitely one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a LONG time and a BIG part of that is because of the staff here. ESPECIALLY Andre and Amy. If you read this, you two are amazing. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT STAYING IN THIS HOTEL! DO IT! For the price you pay, the friendliness of the people here alone are MORE than worth it!! If I return to Williamsburg again, I...
Read moreThe GM Andre has issues. When I checked into the hotel my son was excited about going to the pool. He has a documented medical alert/therapy service animal. 5he dog is documented as both. Andre asked me to make the dog sit in a pool chair while we were at the pool so he didn't "contaminate" the pool. Coocoo bananas. 5he dog isn't allowed on furniture at home so of course he isn't going to be instructed to sit on pool chairs. He sits on the ground. Apparently Andre had an obvious OCD issue with this. Major discrimination issues going on with this GM and my disabled child/animal.
He then proceeded to follow me around the hotel everytime I stepped out. When my children went to the pool I received a phone call less than 30 seconds after while I was heading out the door with them. Andre started asking them weird questions that he had no business asking.
When I went to meet my kids Andre stopped me VERY abruptly without saying "hello" or anything. Just very "sit on your butt and judge" kind of attitude. He's a camera stalker.
I wished he stalked the cameras the night before when I almost slipped on pool water that him or his staff failed to mop up. I cleaned up after 4 teenagers who had been in the pool for about 4 hours or so. Typical teens that were sweet but just did what kids do. This was BEFORE my children even got into or out of the pool. I cleaned after the teens and used towels so no one else slipped or fell. I prevented an accident that the hotel could be sued for. Didn't even think twice about it. That's what Mom's do.
Did Andre thank me for cleaning up after minors that were NOT even my kids????? Nope. Andre didn't give me a single thank you. He didn't even mention the mess to the 2 parent household with the 4 teens about THEIR mess. He went after the single mother.
He followed me into the pool area a few minutes after I was relaxing with my children making me feel sexually uncomfortable. Why would he even do that for??? At this point, I started recording him and I gave him an 3xtea piece of my mind. He made sure no other families were in 5here when he followed me. I don't know if he has a sexual problem or what but major mental issues when it came to that pool.
I also took my garbage out the entire stay. I cleaned the room the entire stay. I even gave the hotel MY personal towels because I did have kids and they do require extra towels.
I got a knock on my door 30 minutes prior to check out asking me when I was leaving. I asked them if check out was 10 or 11 and they assured me it was 11. They obviously knew I was in the room so why did they even have to bother me???? I felt 💯 harassed in more than one way during my stay.
I took videos of the room prior to departure to show corporate how it was kept prior to my departure.
Single moms beware. Andre is a creepy GM. He also invades the personal bubble of other female employees space while using computers at the front desk. He needs to comprehend boundaries and harassment towards females.
We will never be going back. This place has law suit written...

1st weekend, the room was nice but you could tell the age of the hotel when looking at the sliding door that closes for the restroom (it was beat up and loud when you open and close quickly). A small spider was in the bathroom when we arrived, got rid of it (so I thought) and another showed up the next morning, got rid of it and did not see another in the bathroom afterwards. A/C worked really well in the room and the W beds were small but comfortable. Did not care for the big clunky office chair with arms rests. The door key worked really well (been to some hotels where door key does not work). Only one elevator and it is kinda slow, I had to take the stairs a few times, nice carpeted stairway. Needed/wanted some milk for my 19 month old daughter and the kitchen dining room personnel (nice young Hispanic lady) filled up my 2 large cups with a jug of milk after 930am (after breakfast ended), asked her while she was cleaning the dining room, and later on that evening, the gentleman at the front desk, asked him and he was nice too and filled up the large cup that I had with milk and he asked was 2% (milk) okay, I said yes. Parking in the front and around the back side of the building, parking is shared with sleep inn and comfort suites and I saw some hotel guests park in the neighboring parking lot which belongs to Golden Corral. Parking on the other side of the hotel, there is a short walk to the front of the hotel which allows you to see the swimming pool and you can exit the dining room area to get to the parking on the other side (rear) of the hotel.
2nd weekend, housekeeping knocked on all doors every morning sometime between 8 and 10am (if Do Not Disturb is not hanging on door), so I asked for new set of towels and washcloths and gave them the trash that was in my room they told me put the trash and dirty laundry on the floor outside the door and they gave us more towels and washcloths and trash bags; I really liked that and the house keeping ladies were really nice friendly and accommodating! The door knob and card reader on our door needed to be replaced, I informed the guy at the front desk, he came upstairs tightened some screws and tried to unlock and open the door, and he said that he will get the maintenance people to replace it (on Monday, I assume sometime after we checked out,, they don't work on weekends). Also, the nice housekeeping lady told me that checkout is at 11am and to call the front desk to request late checkout. Finally, the shower floor was uneven, some places felt deeper than other places while standing in the shower, so...
