Upon check-in, I was informed of the hotel’s smoke-free policy, which prohibits smoking of cigarettes, marijuana, and vaping. I respected this policy and refrained from engaging in any of these prohibited activities. However, I was informed by phone on the evening of November 2, around 5 p.m., while waiting for dinner across the street, that I was being evicted due to burning incense in the room.
When I returned to the hotel to understand the situation, I was surprised and dismayed to learn that my room had been entered despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. I explained to Hakeem, the front desk attendant, that as a Native American of the Nanticoke Lenape tribe (member number 2443), I use incense as part of my religious practice, specifically for worship purposes. I even attempted to show my identification as a Native American and referenced information on the role of incense in Native American traditions, yet my explanation was disregarded.
The staff member who called me was not only dismissive but also rude and unprofessional, refusing to consider my explanation or review the relevant cultural context. When I requested a copy of the hotel policy or agreement that specifically forbids incense, she deflected my question and referred me to the owner.
While waiting at the front desk, I witnessed this same staff member evict another guest for smoking cigarettes. It was clear that there was inconsistency in how policies were enforced, and I was left feeling embarrassed and disrespected.
Moreover, I would like to note that our experience was unsatisfactory from the first night. We found a stained sheet on the bed upon arrival and had to request a replacement. The staff response to this issue was already dismissive, setting a negative tone for our stay.
Given these circumstances, I am requesting the following:
A refund for the night that we were unjustly evicted. A formal apology for the way we were treated, both for the eviction and for the unprofessional conduct of your staff. Additional customer service training for the staff member involved, to prevent future incidents and ensure respectful treatment of all guests, including those with cultural and religious practices.
Our experience was far from the standards of hospitality I would expect from a reputable establishment like Comfort Inn. I hope you will take my concerns seriously and take appropriate steps to address the...
Read moreThe staff seemed distant with no since of a warm welcome. It just seemed that they were understaffed and not in any hurry to provide good guest service. Upon booking the hotel I was not aware of a holding fee. I had booked online and also did double duty by communicating with them via phone months in advanced. During none of those times did they express a holding fee. When I arrived on the day of, no more then 30min early, they told me that I wouldn't be able to check in not even just to pay and take care of things while I wait for the room to be ready. Once the check-in time came I was informed of a $100 holding fee. I had explain to them how this was highly inconvenient due to such a large sum without my prior knowledge. She offered no empathy but simply repeated the amount. Upon waiting in the lobby you could see large visible stains on all of the furniture. The hallways were dimly lit and gray and gloomy. The bedroom was nicely furnished except for a large visible stain on one of the chairs. Upon first inspection I could see crumbs in the corners from the previous stay. The sink had water stains on it and the bathroom shower was a glass stand up shower that had the rubber sealant coming off the door. There was also a poorly hung wire shelf in the shower that was held to the wall by an adhesive sticker. Upon getting into the bed I realized the sheets were damp. They were not fully dry. After turning the heat up and leaving the room for a few hours they eventually dried. The beds were great quality I must say. Very comfortable and clean. Every day of my stay there were no attendants to take out the trash or make the bedding etc. I had to ask for room service. There is a free breakfast advertised that ends at 9am. It had nothing but cold cereal and milk and no one to serve. Worst of all I had ordered delivery through Doordash the last night. I instructed the driver to either leave it at the front desk or kindly wait a sec for me to get it from him. Upon coming off the elevator I was greeted by the Dasher. I asked him what he was doing he said the front desk lady gave him my room number and allowed him to come up. I was very upset at this! This is a stranger who you gave permission to approach my hotel room. I was very concerned for my safety and felt that was very irresponsible of them especially considering I am a woman alone. If they improve these things id be happy...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting hotel. Filthy and dark everywhere. Got to our room and there was no light in the bathroom. Called down to desk about it from our cell phone because the in room phone is there but it doesn’t work. We were told that there is an electrical issue on the one side of the building so there is nothing they can do about it. They had no other room to switch us to either. So we were supposed to use the toilet and shower in the pitch black darkness?! After thinking for a while I put the tall lamp in the bathroom that has a long cord so we can have light. We plugged it in to the outlet by the sink and guess what…the outlet didn’t work either. So at 10:50 at night my husband hurries to Walmart because they close at 11pm to get an orange extension cord. Spent $15 dollars on that. The front desk didn’t even offer to pay for that. We had to plug in the extension cord by the nightstand between the beds put it behind the bed where my kids were sleeping to make it reach to the bathroom. As of that wasn’t bad enough the next morning I went to open a dresser drawer and when I opened it there were a pair of men’s underwear and dirty socks in there that was not ours. The underwear were stained with brown stains. I have pictures of it. Absolutely sick! Called down to the desk from our cell phone to ask to speak to a manager. We were told that the manager was on vacation all week. So the woman at the desk came to our room with gloves on to dispose of the underwear for us. The next day we also found a lighter in the bottom of the tissue box which is a cardboard disposable box. I never leave bad reviews but I will be leaving one everywhere I can for this hotel with the pictures. No one offered us money off, a refund, or even money back for the extension cord we had to buy. No one ever cleaned our room or brought fresh towels for the whole stay except when we asked the girl at the desk to bring some while she was coming up for the dirty underwear. This hotel is a sick and disgusting joke and should just be shut down as no one there even cares or tries to take care of the place. I will never ever stay at a comfort inn again in my life!!! And we...
