I visited this restaurant once weekly and stopped on July 3rd. The next day I started to feel sick with diarrhea. Since I eat only once a day, I knew that my illness was caused by Plaza Azteca the day prior. I visited an urgent care and tests were ordered on July 7. I tested positive for Campylobacter bacteria and it took three rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it. The manager said he had trouble convincing his employees to wash their hands. This is disgusting. I ordered a chicken burrito, which required hand manipulation to prepare. I spent over $576 in medical bills after eating a burrito and a mojito. The place is entertaining, the cooking tastes delicious, the food is fresh and it looks clean. All of that doesn't matter if their food prep is unsanitary and dangerous, or the food is undercooked. No one will return my request for contact from corporate. I will post a website if no one reaches me in thirty days. URGENT CARE VISIT $137 LAB TESTS $150 AND $289 Subtotal $576, plus cost of three rounds of antibiotics. Diarrhea that lasted weeks. Cancelled prepaid vacation. September 21, I called Plaza Azteca again today and spoke with Fernando. He spoke with Pablo Gonzalez, the Manager. They will do nothing. Fernando said, "Go to court and our insurance will pay for it." I called in July to complain and spoke with the manager. You know, the guy with the missing patch of hair at the back of his head. He offered me a free meal. Ridiculous. Eat here enough times, and who knows what will happen. They will not help you. Remember that, "Take us to court and the insurance will cover it."

Love this place. This is my go to Mexican place in Berks County! I am adding the following: I love this place! This is my local go-to for great Mexican food. When we visited on Sunday the food was amazing and the service was excellent. What I really want to recognize are the great employees! We brought my stepfather there who is on a walker. When we left and got out to the car, he was very weak and missed the seat. My mom and I could not get him up and into the car, so I went back in and asked for help. Two amazing employees came to the rescue and I would like to make sure they are recognized because they deserve to be. First Johan came out and tried to help, but realized we needed more help and he called for assistance and Sebastian came to the rescue. Both Johan and Sebastian worked diligently to help us get my stepfather into the car, which was not an easy task. I cannot tell you the gratitude my mother and I felt that day for their help. I want to make sure these two employees are recognized by their manager and the company. This was well above the call for the job and it is exactly the kind of employees to be proud to have working there. So please forward this to whoever needs to see it because I would love to see them recognized for being kind and generous with their time when I know they probably had other customers to attend to. I want to thank them for their assistance and let them know their help was appreciated more than they will ever know!

DISCRIMINATION AGAINST DISABILITY! For context I have a service dog with her harness, a leash and a treat bag. After informing the manager Fernando and the owner about the ADA (American with Disabilities Act of 1990) laws regarding service dogs I was told that I needed to leave because I did not have an ID or a harness that says service dog, which is illegal to ask for. I explained to him as well how those are a SCAM and can be purchased online; I showed them the ADA page online. The cops were called and never came to me. After explaining my disability (which is in my legal right not to) and the type of work my service dog does I was told that he doesn’t have proof of my disability to say that I am telling the truth. I need my service dog as any other person with a physical disability needs it. What happened is discrimination. I decided to leave because I do not want to give money to this restaurant after the way I was treated. No cop ever came to kick me out or even speak to me around the matter and of course not I am acting within my legal right. If you have a disability or care about anyone who does DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. No one with a disability deserves to be treated any less than any human being specially on 2024. I will add a picture of the law below. P.s I did not give 0 because google does not allow it.

We have been going here now a long time. My boyfriend was not a fan of Mexican food simply because he never tried or had the real deal. We stopped at two Mexican restaurants and grabbed a menu. Plaza Azteca was a second stop. We reviewed the menu in our car and my boyfriends first impression was that the prices were too low and it couldn't possibly be any good but it was getting late, we were both hungry and already in their parking lot. Our first visit we were introduced to manager Pablo and asked what we should try explaining this was our first visit. I am a vegetarian but there were many good selections for me to chose. My boyfriend fell in love that night with Mexican food and he now craves it if we haven't gone there in more than a week or two. This is an absolute true account of events. I LOVE the fresh ingredients they use in all the food. The salad is always fresh with NO brown looking lettuce. The guacamole is made fresh by your table with as much heat as you like or not. Their Margarita's are the BEST around made from fresh juices. I know because I am one of those people that asks a lot of questions. Their beans are made daily early every morning. I honestly can not say enough good things about the food let alone the staff. Wonderful and friendly. Smiling and SINCERE.
