We recently moved, a few thousand miles, and required hotels along our route. The staff appeared to be polite and was considerate in not bothering us when our, "Do not disturb" sign was placed. They had a large king-size bed. I do have to say that the pillows and comforter were quite cozy. Each side of the bed offers a lamp and a night table. I like that the blinds appear to black out the room quite well. Our son likes that they have nightlights. They also come in handy, for adults who do not know the layout, as well as they do at home. One large TV occupies the room, which is on a cheetah mount, and their television swivels well. Our son was able to watch T.V., or we ca. There is an oversized/elongated desk, which acts as a partition, between the king-size bed and the pull-out couch. Our son had access to a standing lamp. They have a mirror in the restroom and offer a full-length mirror towards the entry. Available are also a blow dryer, an ironing board/iron, a refrigerator, and a small microwave. The indoor pool is lightly heated and separated from the exercise area. The toilet has a nice shower(older model) yet offers shampoo, body gel, and conditioner in attached bulk dispensers. We stayed in a Hilton, and their rooms were a bit larger, and their bedrooms were separated by a curtain or a door. For those who need multiple televisions, The Hiltons Home2 Suites offered two televisions. For two busy adults and a young child, one sufficed. I have no complaints regarding our stay at The Hampton Inn& Suites York. We seemed to be in a good location to access public transportation. The entrance, which has a carriage-style overhang, had a nice foyer, and check-in is a breeze, particularly if you are using their app. They have a laundry room on-site, although it is operated by coins. Recently, they underwent a major renovation/remodel of their hotel. This was seen, most evidently, in the entry area of the foyer/sitting rooms/ and breakfast rooms. Their pool was immaculately clean, and the walls were beautiful! It appeared that staff maintained the pool well, without over-chlorinating. The exercise room resembles the exercise room that Hilton offers. Even the equipment and a visually similar setup were employed. Nevertheless, it has been clean, comfortable, and had kind staff. The conference room was in use and an area by the reception desks sold sweets. One could purchase sweets, but the prices at the hotels were quite inflated. There was one life-saving device that was only visible at The Hampton Inn Suites York. I apologize if I did not see it well displayed at the other hotels. Their AED was well placed, and in reach of reception, yet also of a traveler. If I were traveling with a spouse who had a diagnosed heart rhythm issue or anything remotely similar, my reservations would be swayed towards the hotel that had an AED that is displayed and easily accessed. This one item, the AED, was sufficient in reviewing The York Hampton Inn and Suites, at five stars. We were traveling with our felines, and thankfully needed two rooms in each location, as I believe that was the maximum allowed per/room. One must pay a one-time, non-refundable fee, of $75 per animal. This can become costly quite quickly. Ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all hotel guests is the priority. A standardized system for verifying prior animal stays could be beneficial. This would allow hotels to maintain records of animals' behaviors and preferences. Such a system could streamline the check-in process for guests with or without animals. Creating a consistent experience across different hotels would enhance guest satisfaction. I certainly am not the entrepreneur who is going to begin doling out passports with pet photos, verified by veterinarians, although I was surprised at the number of individuals who enjoy traveling with pets. Our circumstances did not offer options, yet one can accrue a large bill over a distance of 3000 miles. Overall, our stay...
Read moreWorst Hampton Inn stay we’ve ever had! Checked in Saturday night, and per the information posted, rooms are serviced every other day. On Sunday morning, we found that the shower head had two options; a hose-like straight down flow, or a conical mist that made it very difficult to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. On Monday, the shower curtain flipped out of the tub, soaking the floor which required the tub mat and two towels to sop up the water. That evening, we came back to the room and found no service had been done, so no fresh towels. I went down to the front desk and asked for towels. The lady at the front desk apologized and supplied the towels. No problem, I said. I understand that sometimes things don’t go as planned. On Tuesday, I tried to soak my shirt on which I had spilled something, only to find that the sink stopper was totally disconnected from the knob in back of the sink that controls it. Ugh. When we left that morning we made absolutely sure that the “do not disturb” had not been left on the door so the housekeeper (who was two rooms down when we left), would know it was okay to service. (The “do not disturb” was not left on the door on Monday either.). Tuesday evening we returned to the room to find it had not been serviced…again. I went down to the front desk to ask for service as we needed the trash emptied, new towels, and we had only 1/4 of a roll of toilet tissue remaining. We asked why our room had not been serviced and were told that we needed to request service at the front desk in the morning!! I thought every other day service meant actually just that. Anyway, they have no one to service a room in the evening, so I gathered up all the used towels, replaced the toilet tissue, and shelved our fresh towels. I’m wondering how I request a tip for taking care of a room for which I paid the same amount as other guests? And just a minor thing, but might I suggest to those who service the coffee bar that they use the hot water container for only that. As a tea drinker, it completely ruins my tea to taste the remnants of coffee. Needless to say, it’s doubtful I’ll ever...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for a family event nearby, and we were given room 317, a room with two beds. The staff were all kind and courteous. Our room was spacious and comfortable and clean, and it has a mini refrigerator that has a small ice box in it, and mini microwave and alarm clock, coffee maker, iron & board, 5 drawers, but no personal safe is in the room. The bathroom has a large counter and big undershelf space for personal toiletries, and plenty of good hot water and the shower pressure was adequate.||||The Hotel has a meeting room, and a very nice indoor swimming pool that has plenty of good seating and a very nice outdoor patio area. The fitness room is nice, and they have a small guest laundry room. The lobby has a small mini market to purchase snack items. The hotel has two elevators that worked well.||||The complimentary breakfast was good and well presented and stocked.||||There is plenty of complimentary parking on the premises, but in some areas of the parking lot there were tiny "pavement" Ants that were in some places piled high with them, but I did let the front desk and maintenance person know about what we saw in the ants, so hopefully they treat their property, because we did have a few ants in our room that were on the HVAC unit that probably came from the parking lot, but this was not a serious issue in our room, but it was something that we worried about in the parking lot for our vehicle. Otherwise this is a very nice hotel that we would absolutely stay in again if in that area, and highly recommend.||||The hotel has a lot of nice restaurants that are in very short walking distance through their parking lot area, some restaurants are just right next to the parking lot, no need to drive at...
